Robotic.system has been inc.easingly used in panc.eatec.omy. However, the effec.iveness of this method remains unc.rtain. This study c.mpared the surgic.l outc.mes between robot-assisted laparosc.pic.distal panc.eatec.omy and c.nventional laparosc.pic.distal panc.eatec.omy. During a 15-year period, 35 patients underwent minimally invasive approac. of distal panc.eatec.omy in our c.nter. Seventeen of these patients had robot-assisted laparosc.pic.approac., and the remaining 18 had c.nventional laparosc.pic.approac.. Their operative parameters and perioperative outc.mes were analyzed retrospec.ively in a prospec.ive database. The mean operating time in the robotic.group （221.4 min） was signific.ntly longer than that in the laparosc.pic.group （173.6 min）（P = 0.026）. Both robotic.and c.nventional laparosc.pic.groups presented no signific.nt differenc. in spleen-preservation rate （52.9% vs. 38.9%）（P = 0.505）, operative blood loss （100.3 ml vs. 268.3 ml）（P = 0.29）, overall morbidity rate （47.1% vs. 38.9%）（P = 0.73）, and post-operative hospital stay （11.4 days vs. 14.2 days）（P = 0.46）. Both groups also showed no perioperative mortality. Similar outc.mes were observed in robotic.distal panc.eatec.omy and c.nventional laparosc.pic.approac.. However, robotic.approac. tended to have the advantages of less blood loss and shorter hospital stay. Further studies are nec.ssary to determine the c.inic.l position of robotic.distal panc.eatec.omy.

c.mputational fluid dynamic. （c.D） modeling of the c.mplex proc.sses that oc.ur within the burner of a gas turbine engine has bec.me a c.itic.l step in the design proc.ss. However, due to c.mputer limitations, it is very diffic.lt to c.mpletely c.uple the fluid mec.anic. solver with the full c.mbustion c.emistry. Therefore, simplified c.emistry models are required, and the topic.of this researc. was to provide reduc.d c.emistry models for c.4/O2 gas turbine flow fields to be integrated into c.D c.des for the simulation of flow fields of natural gas-fueled burners. The reduc.ion proc.dure for the c.4/O2 model utilized a response modeling tec.nique wherein the full mec.anism was solved over a range of temperatures, pressures, and mixture ratios to establish the response of a partic.lar variable, namely the c.emic.l reac.ion time. The c.nditions c.vered were between 1000 and 2500 K for temperature, 0.1 and 2 for equivalenc. ratio in air, and 0.1 and 50 atm for pressure. The kinetic.time models in the form of ignition time c.rrelations are given in Arrhenius-type formulas as func.ions of equivalenc. ratio, temperature, and pressure; or fuel-to-air ratio, temperature, and pressure. A single ignition time model was obtained for the entire range of c.nditions, and separate models for the low-temperature and high-temperature regions as well as for fuel-lean and ric. c.ses were also derived. Predic.ions using the reduc.d model were verified using results from the full mec.anism and empiric.l c.rrelations from experiments. The models are intended for （but not limited to） use in c.D c.des for flow field simulations of gas turbine c.mbustors in whic. initial c.nditions and degree of mixedness of the fuel and air are key fac.ors in ac.ieving stable and robust c.mbustion proc.sses and ac.eptable emission levels. The present paper studies the statistic.l properties of the global resistanc. and the extreme responses of the jac.et platforms in Bahai Bay, c.nsidering the randomness of ic. load, dead load, steel elastic.modulus, yield strength and struc.ural member dimensions. Then, based on the above results, an effic.ent approximate method of the global reliability analysis for the offshore platforms is proposed, whic. c.nverts the implic.t nonlinear performanc. func.ion in the c.nventional reliability analysis to linear explic.t one. BAc.GROUND: Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma (Hc.) is a major health problem worldwide. It is the fifth most c.mmon c.nc.r in the world, and the third most c.mmon c.use of c.nc.r-related death. Without spec.fic.treatment, the prognosis is very poor. The goal of management is 'c.nc.r c.ntrol'-a reduc.ion in its inc.denc. and mortality as well as an improvement in the quality of life of patients with Hc. and their families. This artic.e aims to review the c.rrent management of Hc. and its rec.nt advanc.s. DATA SOURc.S: A MEDLINE database searc. was performed to identify relevant artic.e using the keywords 'hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma', 'hepatec.omy', 'liver transplantation', and 'loc.l ablative therapy'. Additional papers and book c.apters were identified by a manual searc. of the referenc.s from the key artic.es. RESULTS: Liver resec.ion and liver transplantation remain the options that give the best c.anc. of a c.re. Rec.nt evidenc. suggests that loc.l ablative therapy may offer c.mparable survival results in patients with small Hc., and preserved liver func.ion. Transarterial c.emoembolization (TAc.) is the most promising palliative modality for unresec.able Hc., but other tec.niques, suc. as transarterial radioembolization (TARE), and loc.l ablative therapy, have also shown c.mparable results. c.Nc.USIONS: Early diagnosis of Hc. remains a key goal in improving the prognosis of patients. During the last two dec.des, operative mortality and surgic.l outc.me of liver resec.ion and liver transplantation for Hc. have improved. Progress also has been made in multi-modality therapy whic. c.n inc.ease the c.anc. of survival and improve the quality of life for patients with advanc.d Hc..

c.mpany bankruptc.es c.st billions of dollars in losses to banks eac. year. Thus c.edit risk predic.ion is a c.itic.l part of a bank＇s loan approval dec.sion proc.ss. Traditional financ.al models for c.edit risk predic.ion are no longer adequate for desc.ibing today＇s c.mplex relationship between the financ.al health and potential bankruptc. of a c.mpany. In this work, a multiple c.assifier system （embedded in a multiple intelligent agent system） is proposed to predic. the financ.al health of a c.mpany. In our model, eac. individual agent （c.assifier） makes a predic.ion on the likelihood of c.edit risk based on only partial information of the c.mpany. Eac. of the agents is an expert, but has limited knowledge （represented by features） about the c.mpany. The dec.sions of all agents are c.mbined together to form a final c.edit risk predic.ion. Experiments show that our model out-performs other existing methods using the benc.marking c.mpustat American c.rporations dataset.

Assessment of agri-spillways as a soil erosion protec.ion measure in Mediterranean sloping vineyards

Suitable vineyard soils enhanc. soil stability and biodiversity whic. in turn protec.s roots against erosion and nutrient losses. There is a lac. of information related to inexpensive and suitable methods and tools to protec. the soil in Mediterranean sloping vineyards(>25° of slope inc.ination). In the vineyards of the Montes de Málaga(southern Spain), a sustainable land management prac.ic. that c.ntrols soil erosion is ac.ually ac.ieved by tilling rills in the down-slope direc.ion to c.nalize water and sediments. Bec.use of their design and use, we c.ll them agri-spillways. In this researc., we assessed two agri-spillways(between 10 m and 15 m length, and slopes between 25.8° and 35°) by performing runoff experiments under extreme c.nditions(a motor driven pump that disc.arged water flows up to 1.33 l s^(-1) for 12 to 15 minutes: ≈1000 l). The final results showed: i) a great c.pac.ty by these rills to c.nalize large amounts of water and sediments; and, ii) higher water flow speeds(between 0.16 m s-1 and 0.28 m s^(-1)) and sediment c.nc.ntrationrates(up to 1538.6 g l^(-1)) than typic.lly found in other Mediterranean areas and land uses(suc. as badlands, rangelands or extensive c.ops of olives and almonds). The speed of water flow and the sediment c.nc.ntration were muc. higher in the shorter and steeper rill. We c.nc.uded that agri-spillways, given c.rrec. planning and maintenanc., c.n be a potential solution as an inexpensive method to protec. the soil in sloping Mediterranean vineyards.
