Security Policy Management Process within Six Sigma Framework

This paper presents a management process for creating adaptive, real-time security policies within the Six Sigma (6σ) framework. A key challenge for the creation of a management process is the integration with models of known Industrial processes. One of the most used industrial process models is Six Sigma which is a business management model wherein customer centric needs are put in perspective with business data to create an efficient system. The security policy creation and management process proposed in this paper is based on the Six Sigma model and presents a method to adapt security goals and risk management of a computing service. By formalizing a security policy management process within an industrial process model, the adaptability of this model to existing industrial tools is seamless and offers a clear risk based policy decision framework. In particular, this paper presents the necessary tools and procedures to map Six Sigma DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) methodology to security policy management.

The Evaluation of the Patients with Clefts in Aegean Region in Turkey between the Years 2000 to 2011

Purpose: The evaluation of the patients with clefts;the number, type, distribution by gender, etiological factors in Aegean region in Turkey between the years 2000 to 2011. Material and Method: The patients with clefts who referred to Ege University from different cities were evaluated. The number of the clefts, the type of the clefts, and the causative etiological factors which were known, were recorded for each year separately, from 2000 to 2011. At the same time, the distribution of the gender was made for each year. Chi-square test is used for the statistical evaluation. Results: According to the results of the study, the numbers of the patients with clefts were increased day by day. Totally 741 (49.6% female, 50.4% male) patients with clefts were identified. Unilateral complete cleft lip and palate appeared in the left side was seen more in males (23.8%), while seconder palate cleft was seen more in females (16.7%). Drugs, which were used in the first trimester of the pregnancy, were the most seen etiological factors for the clefts (42.5%), while genetic was 23.3% only. Conclusion: The prevention for one of the mostly seen congenital anomaly;cleft lip and palate is still unknown. For this reason, the determination of the newborn babies with cleft lip and palate has an important role in order to give these patients more effective treatment.

Sound source localization has numerous applications such as detection and localization of mechanical or structural failures in vehicles and buildings or bridges, security systems, collision avoidance, and robotic vision. The paper presents the design of an anechoic chamber, sensor arrays and an analysis of how the data acquired from the sensors could be used for sound source localization and object detection. An anechoic chamber is designed to create a clean environment which isolates the experiment from external noises and reverberation echoes. An FPGA based data acquisition system is developed for a flexible acoustic sensor array platform. Using this sensor platform, we investigate direction of arrival estimation and source localization experiments with different geometries and with different numbers of sensors. We further present a discussion of parameters that influence the sensitivity and accuracy of the results of these experiments.

Fungal infections of the skin are one of the often faced with dermatological diseases in worldwide. Topical therapy is an attractive choice for the treatment of the cutaneous infections due to its advantageous such as targeting of drugs to the site of infection and reduction of the risk of systemic side effects. Currently, antifungal drugs are generally used as conventional cream and gel preparations in topical treatment. The efficiency of that treatment depends on the penetration of drugs through the target layers of the skin at the effective concentrations. However, stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin, is an effective barrier for penetration of drugs into deeper layers of the skin. The physicochemical characteristics of drug molecules and the types of the formulations are effective factors in topical drug delivery. Therefore, a number of formulation strategies have been investigated for delivering antifungal compounds through targeted site of the skin. This review article focuses on the new alternative formulation approaches to improve skin penetration of antifungal drugs.

Drug dependence and its risk factors in emergency department patients:A retrospective cross-sectional study

Objective:To determine the characteristics and risk factors of drug dependence among patients who were administered drugs with addictive potential(DAP)in an emergency department(ED).Methods:This retrospective cross-sectional study included patients who were administered DAP 3 or more times in the emergency room between September 1,2019 and March 1,*** demographic and baseline information were *** the prescibed DAP,the reasons to use these drugs,secondary drug dependence,the department where DAP were first prescribed,types of doctors who preferred to prescribed DAP,and the risk factors for the development of drug dependence were ***:A total of 3000 patients were screened from medical records,and among them,80 patients developed drug *** dependence only developed for tramadol(n=57,71.3%),diazepam(n=11,13.8%),and biperiden(n=12,15.0%).Tramadol was the most frequently prescribed drug(n=57,71.3%).The most common reason for drug dependence was psychiatric disorders(n=29,36.3%).Drug dependence developed in renal colic patients due to the administration of tramadol(n=7,100%).On the contrary,dependence to biperiden were mainly developed in patients with psychiatric complaints(n=12,41.4%).The rate of secondary drug dependence was 15%(n=12).Of the Biperiden users,41.7%developed secondary drug dependence on *** DAP were first prescribed in the ED(n=52,65%),and the specialist preferred to prescribe DAP(n=43,53.8%).For the development of dependence,the presence of renal colic(OR:3.387,95%confidence interval(CI):1.473-7.788,P=0.004)and low back pain(OR:5.778,95%CI:2.779-12.014,P<0.001)were the risk ***:Most DAP were first prescribed in the ED compared to other departments,and specialist are preferred to use *** is the most commonly used drugs caused drug *** disorder patients are easier to develope drug ***,renal colic and low back pain patients needs more attention to

Serum neopterin levels in children with hepatitis-B-related chronic liver disease and its relationship to disease severity

AIM:To evaluate serum neopterin levels and their correlations with liver function tests and histological grade in children with hepatitis-B-related chronic liver disease. METHODS:The study population comprised 48 patients with chronic active hepatitis B,32 patients with hepatitis-B-related active liver cirrhosis and 40 normal controls. Serum neopterin was measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS:The mean ± SD serum neopterin levels were 14.2 ± 5.6 nmol/L in patients with chronic hepatitis,20.3 ± 7.9 nmol/L in patients with liver cirrhosis and 5.2 ± 1.4 nmol/L in control group. Serum neopterin levels were signif icantly higher in patients with chronic hepatitis (P = 0.005) and cirrhosis patients (P = 0.008),than in control subjects. Cirrhotic patients had signif icantly higher serum neopterin levels than patients with chronic hepatitis (P = 0.004). There was a positive correlation between serum neopterin levels and alanine aminotransferase levels in patients with chronic hepatitis (r = 0.41,P = 0.004) and cirrhotic patients (r = 0.39,P = 0.005). Positive correlations were detected between serum neopterin levels and inflammatory score in patients with chronic hepatitis (r = 0.51,P = 0.003) and cirrhotic patients (r = 0.49,P = 0.001). CONCLUSION:Our results suggest that serum neopterin levels can be considered as a marker of inflammatory activity and severity of disease in children with hepatitis-B-related chronic liver disease.
