Calcium production and the stellar evolution of first-generation stars remain fascinating mysteries in *** one possible nucleosynthesis scenario,break-out from the hot carbon–nitrogen–oxygen(HCNO)cycle was thought to be the source of the calcium observed in these oldest ***,according to the stellar modeling,a nearly tenfold increase in the thermonuclear rate ratio of the break-out 19F(p,γ)20 Ne reaction with respect to the competing 19F(p,α)16 O back-processing reaction is required to reproduce the observed calcium *** performed a direct measurement of this break-out reaction at the China Jinping underground *** measurement was performed down to the low-energy limit of E_(c.m.)=186 keV in the center-of-mass *** key resonance was observed at 225.2 keV for the first *** a temperature of approximately 0.1 GK,this new resonance enhanced the thermonuclear 19F(p,γ)20 Ne rate by up to a factor of≈7.4,compared with the previously recommended NACRE *** is of particular interest to the study of the evolution of the first stars and implies a stronger breakdown in their“warm”CNO cycle through the 19F(p,γ)20 Ne reaction than previously *** break-out resulted in the production of the calcium observed in the oldest stars,enhancing our understanding of the evolution of the first stars.

Regulating surface electron structure of PtNi nanoalloy via boron doping for high‐current‐density li‐O2 batteries with low overpotential and long‐life cyclability

The realization of high‐efficiency,reversible,stable,and safe li‐O2 batteries is severely hindered by the large overpotential and side reactions,especially at high rate ***,rational design of cathode catalysts with high activity and stability is crucial to overcome the terrible issues at high current ***,we report a surface engineering strategy to adjust the surface electron structure of boron(B)‐doped PtNi nanoalloy on carbon nanotubes(PtNiB@CNTs)as an efficient bifunctional cathodic catalyst for high‐rate and long‐life li‐O2 ***,the li‐O2 batteries assembled with as‐prepared PtNiB@CNT catalyst exhibit ultrahigh discharge capacity of 20510 mA·h/g and extremely low overpotential of 0.48 V at a high current density of 1000 mA/g,both of which outperform the most reported Pt‐based catalysts ***,our li‐O2 batteries offer excellent rate capability and ultra‐long cycling life of up to 210 cycles at 1000 mA/g under a fixed capacity of 1000 mA·h/g,which is two times longer than those of Pt@CNTs and PtNi@***,it is revealed that surface engineering of PtNi nanoalloy via B doping can efficiently tailor the electron structure of nanoalloy and optimize the adsorption of oxygen species,consequently delivering excellent li‐O2 battery ***,this strategy of regulating the nanoalloy by doping nonmetallic elements will pave an avenue for the design of high‐performance catalysts for metal‐oxygen batteries.

Data-Driven Direct Adaptive Risk-Sensitive Control of Stochastic Systems

The authors propose a data-driven direct adaptive control law based on the adaptive dynamic programming(ADP) algorithm for continuous-time stochastic linear systems with partially unknown system dynamics and infinite horizon quadratic risk-sensitive *** authors use online data of the system to iteratively solve the generalized algebraic Riccati equation(GARE) and to learn the optimal control law *** the case with measurable system noises,the authors show that the adaptive control law approximates the optimal control law as time goes *** the case with unmeasurable system noises,the authors use the least-square solution calculated only from the measurable data instead of the real solution of the regression equation to iteratively solve the *** authors also study the influences of the intensity of the system noises,the intensity of the exploration noises,the initial iterative matrix,and the sampling period on the convergence of the ADP ***,the authors present two numerical simulation examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

Heat Transfer and Friction Characteristics of Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers with Different Channel Structures for S-CO_(2) Power System

Printed circuit heat exchanger(PCHE)has been widely used in supercritical carbon dioxide(S-CO_(2))power systems because of its high heat transfer efficiency and good ***,due to the large variety of PCHE configurations,channel selection in practical applications lacks a ***,this paper discussed the heat transfer and friction characteristics and the synergy of three fields in the channel under the guidance of the field synergy principle for four typical PCHE ***,the comprehensive performance of four channels was ***,the heat transfer and friction factor correlations for S-CO_(2)in four channels were *** findings demonstrate that the synergy of velocity and pressure fields of the straight channel PCHE is better(β≈180°),so its resistance loss is relatively *** zigzag and sinusoidal wavy channels and the airfoil fins can reduce the angle a between the temperature gradient and velocity,thus enhancing the heat *** sinusoidal wavy channel can reduce flow resistance compared to the zigzag channel due to the rounded *** streamlined airfoil structure can guide the flow and reduce backflow,thus reducing resistance *** the range of Re studied in this paper,the maximum error of the proposed heat transfer and friction factor correlations of PCHE is 7.0%,which shows good fitting *** research in this paper can provide a reference for the selection and design of PCHE with different channel configurations.

Hydrographic Characteristics and Oceanic Heat Flux in the Upper Arctic Ocean over the Alpha Ridge Observed by the DTOP Platform in 2018 and 2021

In 2018 and 2021,the Drift-Towing Ocean Profilers(DTOP)provided extensive temperature and salinity data on the upper 120m ocean through their drifts over the Alpha Ridge north of the Canada *** thickness and temperature maximum of Alaska Coastal Water(ACW)ranged from 20m to 40m and-1.5℃to-0.8℃,respectively,and the salinity generally maintained from 30.2 to *** with World Ocean Atlas 2018’s climatology manifested a 40m-thick and warm ACW roughly ex-ceeding the temperature maximum by 0.4–0.5℃in June–August *** anomalously warm ACW was highly related to the ex-pansion of the Beaufort Gyre in the negative Arctic Oscillation *** summer,the under-ice oceanic heat flux F_(w)^(OHF)was elevated,with a maximum value of above 25Wm^(-2).F_(w)^(OHF)was typically low in the freezing season,with an average value of 1.2Wm^(-2).The estimates of upward heat flux contributed by ACW to the sea ice bottom F_(w)^(OHF)were in the range of 3–4Wm^(-2)in June–August 2021,when ACW contained a heat content of more than 80MJm^(-2).The heat loss over this period was driven by a weak stratification upon the ACW layer associated with a surface mixed layer(SML)approaching the ACW *** autumn,F_(w)^(OHF)was reduced(ling north of the Canada Basin,was largely responsible for the substantial cooling and thinning of the ACW layer in the summer of 2021.

Health diagnosis of ultrahigh arch dam performance using heterogeneous spatial panel vector model

Currently,more than ten ultrahigh arch dams have been constructed or are being constructed in *** control is essential to long-term operation of these *** study employed the flexibility coefficient and plastic complementary energy norm to assess the structural safety of arch dams.A comprehensive analysis was conducted,focusing on differences among conventional methods in characterizing the structural behavior of the Xiaowan arch dam in ***,the spatiotemporal characteristics of the measured performance of the Xiaowan dam were explored,including periodicity,convergence,and time-effect *** findings revealed the governing mechanism of main ***,a heterogeneous spatial panel vector model was developed,considering both common factors and specific factors affecting the safety and performance of arch *** model aims to comprehensively illustrate spatial heterogeneity between the entire structure and local regions,introducing a specific effect quantity to characterize local deformation ***,the proposed model was applied to the Xiaowan arch dam,accurately quantifying the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of dam ***,the spatiotemporal distri-bution characteristics of environmental load effects on different parts of the dam were reasonably *** of the model prediction enhances its credibility,leading to the formulation of health diagnosis criteria for future long-term operation of the Xiaowan *** findings not only enhance the predictive ability and timely control of ultrahigh arch dams'performance but also provide a crucial basis for assessing the effectiveness of engineering treatment measures.

Heat Storage Performance of PCM in a Novel Vertical Pointer-Shaped Finned Latent Heat Tank

The heat storage performance of latent heat storage systems is not good due to the poor thermal conductivity of phase change *** this paper,a new type of pointer-shaped fins combining rectangular and triangular fins has been employed to numerically simulate the melting process in the heat storage tank,and the fin geometry parameter effects on heat storage performance have been *** results indicate that compared with the bare tube and the rectangular finned tank,the melting time of the phase change material in the pointer-shaped finned tank is reduced by 64.2%and 15.1%,*** closer the tip of the triangular fin is to the hot wall,the better the heat transfer *** optimal height of the triangular fin is about 8 *** the number of fins from 4 to 6 and from 6 to 8 reduces the melting time by 16.0%and 16.7%***,increasing the number of fins from 8 to 10 only reduces the melting time by 8.4%.When the fin dimensionless length is increased from 0.3 to 0.5 and from 0.5 to 0.7,the melting time is shortened by 17.5%and 13.0%.But the melting time is only reduced by 2.9%when the dimensionless fin length is increased from 0.7 to *** optimising the design of the thermal storage system,the results can provide a reference value.

Predict the evolution of mechanical property of Al-li alloys in a marine environment

The ocean is one of the essential fields of national defense in the future,and more and more attention is paid to the lightweight research of Marine equipment and *** study it is to develop a Machine learning(ML)-based prediction method to study the evolution of the mechanical properties of Al-li alloys in the marine *** obtained the mechanical properties of Al-li alloy samples under uniaxial tensile deformation at different exposure times through Marine exposure *** obtained the strain evolution by digital image correlation(DIC).The strain field images are voxelized using 2D-Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)autoencoders as input data for Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)neural ***,the output data of LSTM neural networks combined with corrosion features were input into the Back Propagation(BP)neural network to predict the mechanical properties of Al-li *** main conclusions are as follows:*** variation law of mechanical properties of2297-T8 in the Marine atmosphere is *** the increase in outdoor exposure test time,the tensile elastic model of 2297-T8 changes slowly,within 10%,and the tensile yield stress changes significantly,with a maximum attenuation of 23.6%.*** prediction model can predict the strain evolution and mechanical response simultaneously with an error of less than 5%.*** study shows that a CNN/LSTM system based on machine learning can be built to capture the corrosion characteristics of Marine exposure *** results show that the relationship between corrosion characteristics and mechanical response can be predicted without considering the microstructure evolution of metal materials.

Four-channel catalytic micro-reactor based on alumina hollow fiber membrane for efficient catalytic oxidation of CO

The traditional automotive catalytic converter using commercial ceramic honeycomb carriers has many problems such as high back pressure,low engine efficiency,and high usage of precious *** study proposes a four-channel catalytic micro-reactor based on alumina hollow fiber membrane,which uses phase inversion method for structural molding and *** to the advantages of its carrier,it can achieve lower ignition temperature under low noble metal *** Pd/CeO_(2) at a loading rate of 2.3%(mass),the result showed that the reaction ignition temperature is even less than 160℃,which is more than 90℃ lower than the data of commercial ceramic substrates under similar catalyst loading and airspeed *** technology in turn significantly reduces the energy consumption of the *** stability tests were conducted under constant conditions for 1000 h,which proved that this catalytic converter has high catalytic efficiency and stability,providing prospects for the design of innovative catalytic converters in the future.
