EMU-Net: Automatic Brain Tumor Segmentation and Classification Using Efficient Modified U-Net

Tumor segmentation is a valuable tool for gaining insights into tumors and improving treatment *** segmentation is crucial but *** learning methods have emerged as key players in automating brain tumor *** this paper,we propose an efficient modified U-Net architecture,called EMU-Net,which is applied to the BraTS 2020 *** approach is organized into two distinct phases:classification and *** this study,our proposed approach encompasses the utilization of the gray-level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM)as the feature extraction algorithm,convolutional neural networks(CNNs)as the classification algorithm,and the chi-square method for feature *** simulation results,the chi-square method for feature selection successfully identifies and selects four GLCM *** utilizing the modified U-Net architecture,we achieve precise segmentation of tumor images into three distinct regions:the whole tumor(WT),tumor core(TC),and enhanced tumor(ET).The proposed method consists of two important elements:an encoder component responsible for down-sampling and a decoder component responsible for *** components are based on a modified U-Net architecture and are connected by a bridge *** proposed CNN architecture achieves superior classification accuracy compared to existing methods,reaching up to 99.65%.Additionally,our suggested technique yields impressive Dice scores of 0.8927,0.9405,and 0.8487 for the tumor core,whole tumor,and enhanced tumor,***,the method presented demonstrates a higher level of trustworthiness and accuracy compared to existing *** promising accuracy of the EMU-Net study encourages further testing and evaluation in terms of extrapolation and generalization.

Ampelographic and Genetic Diversity Assessment of Some Local Grape Genotypes under Egyptian Conditions

Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) is assumed as one of the most valuable and popular fruit crops all over the world. In this study, ten of local grape germplasm were characterized considering phenotypic diversity and genetic features under Egyptian conditions. Selected local grapes;Baltim Eswid, Edkawy, Matrouh Eswid, Bez El-Naka, Bez El-Anza, Romy Abiad, Romy Ahmer, Gharibi, Fayoumi and Banaty, were spread geographically among seven national governorates. A total of 58 attributes were characterized grape germplasm for the distinctness of vine parts. For molecular characterization, 9 nuclear SSR loci were analysed. Data revealed a broad sense of similarity at the level of studied morphological attributes, where the highest similarity (0.93) was between Romy Ahmer and Romy Abiad. A total of 24 alleles, ranging from 124 - 253 bp in size, were detected at the nine tested loci with an average of 2.67 alleles per locus. The amplification products in all of the 9 SSRs loci showed polymorphism among the 10 grapevine cultivars. The genetic relatedness among most of the cultivars was in accordance with their identification based on ampelographic properties. Data of phenotypic and molecular analysis revealed high variability of Vitis germplasm in Egypt and contributed substantially to our awareness of valuable local grape genetic resources which are on the verge of extinction.

Amoxicillin–clavulanic acid induced sperm abnormalities and histopathological changes in mice

Objective: To explore the genotoxic potential and histopathological changes induced in liver, kidney, testis, brain and heart after using the antibiotic drug amoxicillin/clavulanic acid(4:1).Methods: The study included chromosomal aberration analysis in bone-marrow and mouse spermatocytes, induction of sperm morphological abnormalities and histopathological changes in different body organs. The drug was administrated orally at a dose of81 mg/kg body weight twice daily(Total = 162 mg/kg/day) for various periods of time equivalent to 625 mg/men(twice daily).Results: The results revealed non-significant chromosomal aberrations induced after treatment with amoxicillin/clavulanic acid(AC) in both bone marrow and mouse spermatocytes after 7 and 10 days treatment. On the other hand, statistically significant percentages of sperm morphological abnormalities were recorded. Such percentage reached 8.10 ± 0.55, 9.86 ± 0.63 and 12.12 ± 0.58 at the three time intervals tested(7, 14 and 35 days after the 1 st treatment respectively)(treatment performed for 5 successive days) compared with 2.78 ± 0.48 for the control. The results also revealed histopathological changes in different body organs after AC treatment which increased with the prolongation of the period of therapy. Congestion of central vain, liver hemorrhage and hydropic changes in hepatocytes were noticed in the liver. Degenerative changes were found in kidney glomerulus and tubules while testis showed atrophy of seminiferous tubules, and reduction of spermatogenesis. AC also induced neurotoxicity and altered brain neurotransmitter levels. Hemorrhage in the myocardium, disruption of cardiac muscle fibers and pyknotic nuclei in cardiomyocytes were recorded as side effects of AC in heart ***: The results concluded that AC treatment induced sperm morphological abnormalities and histopathological changes in different body organs. Clinicians must be aware of such results while describing the drug.

Impacts of Temperature and Frequency on the Dielectric Properties for Insight into the Nature of the Charge Transports in the Tl2S Layered Single Crystals

Investigation of the electric properties of semi-conducting materials in an applied ac electric fields gives information about the nature of charge transport and localized states in the forbidden gap. Layered crystals usually contain structural defects, such as dislocations and vacancies that may form a high density of localized states near the Fermi level. So, the current study was carried out for insight into the dielectric Properties of Tl2S layered single crystals. These properties were studied using the ac measurements in the low temperatures ranging from 77 to 300 K. The real part of dielectric constant ε?, imaginary part of dielectric constant ε?, the dissipation factor tan δ and the alternating current conductivity σac were measured in an applied ac electric field of frequencies extending from 2.5 to 50 kHz. Based on the dependencies of these dielectric parameters on both the frequency and temperature, the dielectric properties of the crystals under investigation were elucidated and analyzed. The ac conductivity was found to obey the power law σac(ω) = Aωs with which the values of the exponent s were evaluated to be less than unity in the range 0.21 ≥ s ≥ 0.19. Furthermore, it was found that the temperature dependence of ac conductivity follows the Arrhenius relation via which the impact of temperature on the electrical processes in an applied ac electric field was illustrated and analyzed. The influences of temperature and frequency on both the exponent s and band gap were also discussed in this investigation.

The effect of Pr and Gd doping on the transport properties of Cu-deficient YBCO superconductors has been studied. Two series of Y1Ba2Cu3 - xRxO7 - δ, where R = Pr or Gd, were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction technique. Resistance measurements showed a suppression of Tc with increasing of Pr- and Gd-contents in addition to a normal-state metal-to-insulator transition. Moreover, a superconductor-to-insulator transition has been observed at ambient pressure for temperatures less than 50 K for Pr with x = 0.3 and for Gd with x > 0.3. The overall complex behaviours of the resistivity data have been preliminary explained in terms of localization of charge carriers, structural disorders, and magnetic ordering of magnetic moments.

Endoscopic management of Dieulafoy's lesion using Isoamyl-2-cyanoacrylate

Dieulafoy's lesion (DL) is a rare but important cause of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding that may be over-looked during diagnostic endoscopy. Mortality rates are similar to those of other causes for gastrointestinal bleeding. Diagnosis by upper endoscopy is the modal-ity of choice during acute bleeding. In the absence of active bleeding, the lesion resembles a raised nipple or visible vessel. There are no guidelines regarding effective selective therapy for DL, when diagnosed, en-doscopist experience is the major determinant of the treatment strategy. Following our strategy, an expert endoscopist with a skilled assistant should have a high rate of successful DL diagnosis when an obscured gas-trointestinal lesion is suspected. Cyanoacryltes com-pounds have been used successfully in management of Gastric varices and DLs. To our knowledge, there have been no previous reports regarding use of isoamyl-2-cyanoacrylate (AMCRYLATE ; Concord Drugs Ltd.,Hyderabad, India) as an effective therapy for gastric DL without serious complications. In our case study, Isoamyl-2-cyanoacrylate (AMCRYLATE) was effective and safe for treating DL. Surgical wedge resection of the lesion should be considered as a therapeutic option if endoscopic therapy fails.
