Management of various water resources has become a pivotal need for all catchments and sub-catchements in Jordan. Storing treated wastewater applied in reservoirs that originally constructed to store flood and base flow water in the country. This practice has proved detrimental to the originally good quality reservoir waters, leading to additional water quality deterioration such as eutrophication issue. Hence, separating treated wastewater from flood and base flow waters to guarantee the availability of better quality waters for higher quality uses such as drinking or recreation. This study focuses on the dams constructed in Kafrain and Shueib catchments, lying west and northwest of Amman. The results of hydrological, hydrogeological, geological, water quality and terrain measurements using Remote Sensing, Geographical Information System (GIS) and Digital Elevation Models (DEM) show that there are nine potential dam sites in the two catchments to construct. In Shueib catchment, two proposed dam sites were selected as suitable dams for fresh water harvesting and groundwater artificial recharge. While, two suggested dam sites are located downstream of Al-Salt and Fuhais wastewater treatment plants for treated wastewater collection. In Kafrain catchment, three proposed dam sites were selected as suitable dams for fresh water harvesting and groundwater artificial recharge. Whereas, two suggested dam sites are located downstream of Wadi Sir wastewater treatment plant, hereby, it can be used to collect the treated wastewater. The study is expected to serve as an example for other catchments in Jordan and elsewhere, especially in water scarcity areas where treated waste water is stored together with flood and base flow waters.

Background: This study compares the effect of dexmedetomidine versus Ketamine for the prevention of emergence agitation in children undergoing general anaesthesia. Method: 75 Children are randomly allocated into three groups. Group C: Were assigned to receive normal saline. Group K: Were assigned to receive Ketamine 0.25 mg/kg. Group D: assigned to receive 0.25 ug /kg of dexmedetomidine, before the end of surgery. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in demographic data and intraoperative parameters between the three groups. But as regards to time to discharge, there was a significant difference between group C, group K and group D (group C = 39.96 ± 2.84, group K = 37.28 ± 3.80, group D = 35.08 ± 3.36 and P value = 0.0002). FLACC scale was low after extubation, before leaving the operating room and on arrival to PACU (small FLACC scale in group K, D than group C). PAED scoreless in Group K and Group D than Group C (postoperative, at 10 minutes, 20 min, 30 min). Conclusion: Ketamine and dexmedetomidine reduced the incidence and severity of emergence delirium effectively when compared to normal saline, and the effects of dexmedetomidine being much superior to Ketamine.

Validation of prognostic indices in Egyptian Budd-Chiari syndrome patients: A single-center study

AIM To compare predictive ability of Budd-Chiari syndrome(BCS) prognostic indices(PIs) for one-year survival and Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS) *** This retrospective study enrolled 194 Egyptian patients with primary BCS who presented to the BuddChiari Study Group of Ain Shams University Hospital. Calculation of the available PIs was performed using Child-Pugh and model for end-stage liver disease scores, BCS-specific PIs(Clichy, New Clichy andRotterdam) for all patients, and BCS-TIPS PI only for patients who underwent TIPS. The overall one-year survival rate and the one-year shunt patency rate for TIPS were *** The overall one-year survival rate was 69.6%, and the New Clichy PI revealed the best validity for its prediction at a cut-off value of 3.75, with sensitivity and specificity of 78% and 73.3%, respectively [area under receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC) = 0.806]. The one-year survival rate post-TIPS was 89.7%, and the BCS-TIPS score demonstrated validity for its prediction at a cut-off value of 3.92(sensitivity and specificity were 71.4% and 64.5%, respectively)(AUC = 0.715). Logistic regression analysis revealed that the New Clichy PI(P = 0.030), high serum total bilirubin(P = 0.047) and low albumin(P < 0.001) were independent factors for predicting mortality within one year. The one-year shunt patency rate in TIPS was 80.2%, and none of the PIs exhibited significant validity for its prediction. CONCLUSION The New Clichy score could independently predict the one-year survival in Egyptian BCS patients.

The relationship between six Abutilon species was examined using different taxonomic investigation tools. The investigation was carried out using morphological and numerical studies. Fresh materials of Abutilon species were collected from different localities in Saudi Arabia during 2018 and 2019. Numerical analysis was based on the Principle Coordinates, the Principle Component and the Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Algorithm Clustering. The results indicated that there were significant differences based on the morphological characters especially in the leaves, fruits and flowers features. Morphometric studies revealed that the six species of Abutilon clearly separated in all different analysis.

Introduction: Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome is a complex autoimmune disease that can affect all systems of the body and characterized by presence of antiphospholipid antibodies that cause vascular thrombosis and pregnancy complications, kidney involvement is very common in patients with antiphos- pholipid syndrome and leads to many serious complications. Objectives: study the effect of antiphospholipid syndrome on kidneys. Data Sources: By searching and reviewing Medline databases (Pub Med and Medscape) and all renal involvement in antiphospholipid syndrome materials available till 2019. Study Selection: All studies were independently assessed for inclusion. They were included if they fulfilled the following criteria: 1) published in English language;2) published in peer-reviewed journals;3) discussed the involvement of kidney in antiphospholipid syndrome. Data Extraction: Data from each eligible study were independently abstracted using a data collection form to capture information related to our concerned study outcomes. If the studies did not fulfill the inclusion criteria, they were excluded. Study quality assessment includes if ethical approval is gained, eligibility criteria specified, adequate information and defined assessment measured. Data Synthesis: Structured review with the results tabulated was made for comparison. Conclusions: We can conclude that kidney affection in patients with antiphos- pholipid syndrome has a wide spectrum and variation.

交互式白板是一种大型可触摸交互式屏幕,与投影仪及内置(外置)电脑设备相连。屏幕实时展现投影内容,可使用点触的方式直接操作或输入指令,能够让学生全身心的沉浸到课堂教学之中。交互式白板的各项功能使其成为颇受教师欢迎的教辅工具,在教/学环节已拥有广泛的应用。但是目前为止,从教师角度分析这一工具优劣的定性研究寥寥无几。本文旨在探索教师对于交互式白板在南京中小学英语教学中应用的观点。同时希望通过展现交互式白板在教学过程的重要作用而对各地区中小学教学研究活动有所启发。我们将会涉及以下两个部分:第一部分是英语教师对于白板作为一种教学手段在课堂中出现的观点及其对学生英语技能,课堂参与与积极性的影响;第二部分探讨给予教师相应的白板使用培训的的重要性。文章主要围绕着ESL教师关于如何高效的使用交互式白板教授年轻学习者的观点以及这项技术对学生有怎样的影响和激励展开探讨。此外,我也将涉及ESL教师的个人经验和使用IWB的技能对于他们的教学风格和课堂管理的影响以及其对培训需求的认知。本文采取了定性研究的方法:其一是与三位英语教师进行了深度的访谈,他们分别来自南京地区不同的英语教学机构或者公立学校,都具有相当的白板使用经验。通过挖掘参与者个人教学经验以及对白板作用与局限的探讨,访谈也将帮助他们改进交互式白板教学环节中的使用方法。其二是在南京第二育英外国语学校进行为期一个月左右的课堂观察(由于南京地区大部分中小学校区内尚无大规模的交互式白板的应用,故而本项研究中学校的选取有一定的限制)。该校交互式白板使用教师均配备个人电脑,可以全时段接入交互式白板。课堂观察涉及5位英语教师,教授四至六年级。在观察过程中,教师对于白板的使用方式也被纳入考虑范围,并且进行了仔细的比较。课堂观察部分的主要目标是研究交互式白板应该如何作为教辅工具加入并改变教学方式,及其对学生学习积极性和参与度影响的程度。访谈部分通过问卷收集英语教师在使用白板过程中的一些数据来佐证之前部分的分析结论。除此之外,我也将自己在对外英语教学以及交互式白板使用的经验加入到此项研究中。本文发现交互式白板在英语教学中具有很大潜力,但是对于英语教师而言,也意味着一系列的挑战。现阶段交互式白板应用的主要局限性来源于相对应的培训的缺失与不足。而且对于英语教师的培训不能采取“一刀切”的方式,培训者需要同时顾及教师本身知识背景以及应用场景,而量身设计培训方案。在获得相当的培训之后,教师将对于智能白板的使用更具信心,能极大的发挥出教学创意,同时避免由于培训不足而引起的各种技术问题。因此英语教师需要对于充分的培训与交互式白板在课堂中发挥重要作用两者之间的密切联系有一个清楚的认知。这个课题在其他国家已有相当数量的研究与访谈,比如英国,澳大利亚,土耳其和瑞典。但是在中国的本土化研究寥寥无几,这与中国广泛的教育资源状况是极不相称的。另外某些教室中交互式白板存在安装不当:比如未将学生身高,其对学生视力的影响,交互式白板易被损坏的特性,没有备用电源等因素纳入考虑范围。除此之外,交互式白板在南京公立学校中配备的短缺也不容忽视,在总共一百零七所学校中,拥有交互式白板的学校屈指可数,而且这部分学校也仅仅是在小部分教室中才有安装。公立学校对于交互式白板重要性认知不足可见一斑。而只有更多交互式白板相关的论文涌现出来,才能改变这一现状。交互式白板不仅对于教学环节有极大的进步作用,也能对于学生接受新兴科技的程度有积极影响。而部分教师创新性不足也限制了交互式白板发挥出最大的作用,同时他们还忽略了因特网这一交互式白板最大材料库。综上所述,为了能将交互式白板在英语课堂中的作用充分发挥,必须为教师提供深入充分的相关培训。而安装时也应当考虑到学生的年龄及身高。最后,希望本文能够吸引大家关于交互式白板的教学研究的兴趣,起到抛砖引玉的作用。

Petroleum hydrocarbons of surface water were collected from eight loca-tions of from the coasts of north western Suez Gulf,*** extracted petroleum hydrocarbons were determined by gas chromatography-flame ionization detector and quantified by integrating the areas of both the resolved and unresolved *** results confirm that the con-centration is relatively higher than the recommended in the regulations of the Egyptian low of Environment of No.4/1994 of petroleum *** various *** dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons ranged from 5.639 to 74.8 and 1.868 to 65.698 mg/ml for summer and winter sea-sons,*** indicates that chronic oil pollution,in addition to hydrocarbon concentrations,the diagnostic indices used shows that the hydrocarbons in the area were comes from biogenic,petrogenic and anthropogenic ***-IR spectrometric analysis confirms die petro-genic nature of pollutants.

Study Properties of Fermented Camels’ and Goats’ Milk Beverages Fortified with Date Palm (<i>Phoenix dactylifera L</i>.)

Camels’ milk (CM) and goats’ milk (GM) are rich in nutrients and vitamins necessary for the health of humans and have therapeutic properties as they are rich in antioxidants and have a protective role against free radicals that have harmful effects on human health. Date palm (DP), camels’ milk and goats’ milk have been reported to be used for the prevention and treatment of various diseases in Arab countries. This study was designed to mix date palm with camels’ milk and goats’. Eight formulations of both camels’ milk and goats’ were made from different percentages of date palm. These formulations were added at ratios of 0 (control), 10%, 20% and 30% (w/v) to camels’ milk and goats’ and the effect of this date palm on the composition and texture properties of the fermented obtained products were followed. It has been found that pH, protein, fat decreased and total solid, carbohydrate, ash, viscosity, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants increased with the increase of the added percentage of date palm compared to control. Microbial counts of the fermented camels’ milk (FCM) and goats’ milk (FGM) increased significantly (P improved the composition, viscosity, microbiological quality of fermented camels’ and goats’ milk with nutritional functional values and acceptable sensory attributes.

We report a case of Budd-Chiari syndrome occurring in a patient with coeliac disease,who presented with symptoms of increased abdominal girth,right upper quadrant pain and shortness of breath for three weeks prior to *** assessment revealed the presence of moderate ascites,hepatosplenomegaly and right-sided pleural *** diagnostic work-up established a diagnosis of chronic Budd-Chiari ***,complete screening for pro-thrombotic factors was negative.A review of the literature on this association disclosed only 28 similar cases,with the majority of them describing individuals of North African ***,in the majority of cases no specific thrombotic factor could be identified,suggesting that coeliac disease may play a role in this thrombotic disorder.
