Relationships Between Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Symbiosis and Soil Fertility Factors in Citrus Orchards Along an Altitudinal Gradient

Arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) symbionts are able to greatly affect soil fertility. However, the relationships between AM symbiosis development levels and citrus mycorrhizosphere soil fertility remain weakly known in field. In our study, AM colonization, spore density, hyphal length density, and glomalin-related soil protein(GRSP) content in citrus(Robertson naval orange grafted on Citrus reticulata Blanco) orchards along an altitudinal gradient were investigated seasonally in southern China. The results showed that AM colonization and abundances of spore and hyphae fluctuated significantly in different seasons and altitudes. The highest AM colonization(83.03%) was observed in orchards at 200 m above sea level in summer, spore density(16.8 spores g-1soil) in orchards at 400 m in autumn, and hyphal length density(2.36 m g-1soil) in orchards at 600 m orchards in summer; while the lowest values(43.60%, 2.7 spores g-1soil and 0.52 m g-1soil of AM colonization, spore density, and hyphal length density, respectively) were all observed in orchards at 800 m in winter. Correlation analyses demonstrated that the soil properties such as soil organic matter,alkali-hydrolyzable N, available P, and p H were significantly(P environmental factors such as altitude, GRSP, soil organic matter, and alkali-hydrolyzable N severely(Monte Carlo permutation tests, P = 0.002) influenced AM colonization and abundances of spore and hyphae in citrus orchards. Our data demonstrated that soil environmental factors are vital in determining AM symbiosis development in citrus orchards.

Recent studies have suggested a link between executive function(EF)and *** oftenadopt body mass index(BM),which reflects the distribution of subcutaneous fat,as the solemarker of obesity;however,BMI is inappropriate to distinguish central obesity,which indicatesthe centralized distribution of visceral *** fat compared with subcutaneous fat repre-sents greater relative lipid turnover and may increase the risk of cognitive decline in older ***,the relationship between EF and central obesity is largely unknown,particularly inyoung ***,we used waist circumference(WC)as a marker of central obesity andinvestigated diferent sensitivities between BMI and WC in the brain function.A total of 26healthy young adults(aged 18-25 years;42%female)underwent functional near-infrared spec-troscopy *** was assessed using the Stroop task,which is a classical measurementof EF.A significant Stroop effect was observed in the behavioral and hemodynamic ***,we observed that behavioral interference on the Stroop task varied much more insubjects with higher BMI and WC than those subjects with *** BMI and WC wereassociated with a decreased hemodynamic response during the Stroop task specifically in the pre-frontal cortex(PFC).Compared to BMI,WC was more closely connected with inhibitory controland revealed right lateralized PFC *** findings suggest that WC is a reliable indicatorof brain function in young adults and propose a relationship bet ween EF and central obesity.

Hydrogels are promising materials for wound protection,but in wet,or underwater environments,the hydration layer and swelling of hydrogels can seriously reduce adhesion and limit their *** this study,inspired by the structural characteristics of strong barnacle wet adhesion and combined with solvent exchange,a robust wet adhesive hydrogel(CP-Gel)based on chitosan and 2-phenoxyethyl acrylate was obtained by breaking the hydration layer and resisting *** a result,CP-Gel exhibited strong wet adhesion to various interfaces even underwater,adapted to joint movement and skin twisting,resisted sustained rushing water,and sealed damaged *** importantly,on-demand detachment and controllable adhesion were achieved by promoting *** addition,CP-Gel with good biosafety significantly promotes seawater-immersed wound healing and is promising for use in water-contact wound care,organ sealing,and marine emergency rescue.

Employing Monte Carlo simulations based on the cluster expansion,the special quasi-random structures and first-principles calculations,we systematically investigate the structure transition of BeZnO2 alloys from the ordered to the disordered phase driven by the increased synthesis temperature,together with the solid-state phase *** is found that by controlling the ordering parameter at the mixed sublattice,the band structure can vary continuously from a wide direct band gap of 4.61 eV for the fully ordered structure to a relatively narrow direct band gap of 3.60 eV for the fully disordered ***,a better optical performance could be achieved simply by controlling the synthesis temperature,which determines the ordering parameters and thus the band gaps.

Preparing graphene from anode graphite of spent lithium-ion batteries

With extensive use of lithium ion batteries （LIBs）, amounts of LIBs were discarded, giving rise to growth of resources demand and environmental risk. In view of wide usage of natural graphite and the high content （12%-21%） of anode graphite in spent LIBs, recycling anode graphite from spent LIBs cannot only alleviate the shortage of natural graphite, but also promote the sustainable development of related industries. After calcined at 600°Cfor 1 h to remove organic substances, anode graphite was used to prepare graphene by oxidation-reduction method. Effect of pH and N2H4·H2O amount on reduction of graphite oxide were probed. Structure of graphite, graphite oxide and graphene were characterized by XRD, Raman and FTIR. Graphite oxide could be completely reduced to graphene at pH 11 and 0.25 mL N2H4·H2O. Due to the presence of some oxygen-containing groups and structure defects in anode graphite, concentrated H2SO4 and KMnO4 consumptions were 40% and around 28.6% less than graphene preparation from natural graphite, respectively.

Two photochromic compounds with the pyrazolonering as the photochromic functional structure, 2(1phenyl3methyl4benzoformylpyrazolone5)thiosemicarbazone(PMBPTSC) and 2(1phenyl3methyl4benzoformylpyrazolone5)smethylthiosemicarbazone(PMBPMTSC), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, MS, IR spectra, NMR spectra. The crystal structure of the photocolored product of PMBPTSC was determined by single crystal XRD analysis. The results show that the photochromic phenomenon is due to the photoisomerization from enol form to keto form. Their photochromic properties were studied by powderUV reflectance spectra under the irradiation of 200—380 nm light. The firstorder rate constants of the photocoloring reaction were found to be 780×10 -3 s -1 for compound 1A and 103×10 -3 s -1 for compound 2A.

Dynamics of Soil Moisture and Salt Content After Infiltration of Saline Ice Meltwater in Saline-Sodic Soil Columns

Saline ice meltwater can be used for irrigation and leaching of salts in salt-affected soil regions.A laboratory experiment was conducted using soil columns to investigate the redistribution of soil moisture, salt and sodium adsorption ratio(SAR) in saline-sodic soil under the infiltration of saline ice *** were treated using saline water of three irrigation volumes(1 600, 2 400 and 3 200 mL) at four salinity *** four salinity levels included salt free(0 g L^(-1)), low salinity level(1.4 g L^(-1)), moderate salinity level(2.7 g L^(-1)) and high salinity level(4.1 g L^(-1)).The prepared saline water was frozen into ice, and then the ice was put on the surface of soil *** 96 h, the infiltration rate and soil moisture content of saline ice treatments were greater than those of salt-free ice treatments, increasing with the increase of ice *** of saline ice meltwater increased soil moisture content in the upper layers for all *** salt contents and SAR values in the upper soil layers decreased in all saline ice treatments and were lower than those in salt-free ice ***, this trend was reversed in the deeper(below 20 cm) soil *** highest desalting rate and lowest SAR were observed in high-salinity treatment under three irrigation volumes in the 0–15 cm soil layer,especially under irrigation volume of 2 400 *** results indicate that saline ice(0–20 cm) meltwater irrigation is beneficial to saline-sodic soil reclamation, and the best improvement effect would be achieved when using high-salinity ice under optimal irrigation volume.
