Diversity and seasonal variation of ground and understory spiders from a tropical mountain cloud forest

We made intensive samplings to study the seasonal response of spiders across different forest strata(ground and understory)in a tropical mountain cloud forest from *** sampled spiders from ten plots in six sampling events during the dry and rainy season,to analyze their abundance,structure(distribution of abundance among species),diversity and the response of the five dominant species at each *** demonstrated that seasonal patterns of spider communities differed among strata,revealing a complex spatiotemporal ***,structure,diversity of ground spiders,as well as the responses of four dominant species at this stratum,showed low seasonal *** contrast,a strong seasonal variation was observed for the understory assemblage,with lowest abundance and highest diversity in the rainy season,and different assemblage structures for each *** patterns of each assemblage seem linked to the responses of their dominant *** found high co-occurrence among most of the ground dominant species with similar habitat use and with multivoltine patterns,contrasting with low co-occurrence among most of the understory dominant species with similar habitat use and univoltine *** results showed that the spiders’assemblages of tropical mountain cloud forest(opposed to what is found in temperate and boreal forests)increase their species richness with the height,and that their responses to seasonal change differ between *** programs of these habitats should consider the spatial and temporal variations found here,as a better understanding of their ecological dynamics is required to support their sustainable management.

NPV risk simulation of an open pit gold mine project under the O'Hara cost model by using Gas

This paper analyzes an open pit gold mine project based on the O'Hara cost model. Hypothetical data is proposed based on different authors that have studied open pit gold projects, and variations are proposed according to the probability distributions associated to key variables affecting the NPV, like production level, ore grade, price of ore, and others, so as to see what if, in a gold open pit mine project of 3000 metric tons per day of ore. Two case scenarios were analyzed to simulate the NPV, one where there is low certainty data available, and the other where the information available is of high certainty. Results based on genetic algorithm metaheuristic simulations, which combine basically Montecarlo simulations provided by the Palisade Risk software, the O'Hara cost model, net smelter return and financial analysis tools offered by Excel are reported, in order to determine to which variables of the project is more sensitive the NPV.

Hematologic manifestations of Helicobacter pylori infection

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is the most common infection in humans, with a marked disparity between developed and developing countries. Although H. pylori infections are asymptomatic in most infected individuals, they are intimately related to malignant gastric conditions such as gastric cancer and gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma and to benign diseases such as gastritis and duodenal and gastric peptic ulcers. Since it was learned that bacteria could colonize the gastric mucosa, there have been reports in the medical literature of over 50 extragastric manifestations involving a variety medical areas of specialization. These areas include cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gynecology and obstetrics, hematology, pneumology, odontology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and pediatrics, and they encompass conditions with a range of clear evidence between the H. pylori infection and development of the disease. This literature review covers extragastric manifestations of H. pylori infection in the hematology field. It focuses on conditions that are included in international consensus and management guides for H. pylori infection, specifically iron deficiency, vitamin B12 (cobalamin) deficiency, immune thrombocytopenia, and MALT lymphoma. In addition, there is discussion of other conditions that are not included in international consensus and management guides on H. pylori, including auto-immune neutropenia, antiphospholipid syndrome, plasma cell dyscrasias, and other hematologic diseases.

Cure of alopecia areata after eradication of Helicobacter pylori:A new association?

Alopecia areata is a disease of the hair follicles, with strong evidence supporting autoimmune etiology. Alopecia areata is frequently associated with immune-medi- ated diseases with skin manifestations such as psoriasis and lichen planus, or without skin manifestations such as autoimmune thyroiditis and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. Helicobacter py/ori （H. pylorl） infection is present in around 50% of the world＇s population and has been associated with a variety of immune-mediated extra-digestive disorders including autoimmune thyroid- itis, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, and psoriasis. A case of a 43-year old man with an 8-too history of alopecia areata of the scalp and beard is presented. The patient was being treated by a dermatologist and had psychiatric support, without any improvement. He had a history of dyspepsia and the urea breath test confirmed H. pylori infection. The patient went into remission from alopecia areata after H. pylori eradication. If such an association is confirmed by epidemiological studies designed for this purpose, new therapeutic options could be available for these patients, especially in areas where infection with H, pylori is highly prevalent.

An optimized ^(13)C-urea breath test for the diagnosis of H pylori infection

AIM： To validate an optimized ^13C-urea breath test （^13C-UBT） protocol for the diagnosis of H pylori infection that is cost-efficient and maintains excellent diagnostic accuracy. METHODS： 70 healthy volunteers were tested with two simplified ^13C-UBT protocols, with test meal （Protocol 2） and without test meal （Protocol 1）. Breath samples were collected at 10, 20 and 30 rain after ingestion of 50 mg ^13C-urea dissolved in 10 mL of water, taken as a single swallow, followed by 200 mL of water （pH 6.0） and a circular motion around the waistline to homogenize the urea solution. Performance of both protocols was analyzed at various cut-off values. Results were validated against the European protocol. RESULTS： According to the reference protocol, 65.7% individuals were positive for H pylori infection and 34.3% were negative. There were no significant differences in the ability of both protocols to correctly identify positive and negative H pylori individuals. However, only Protocol 1 with no test meal achieved accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values of 100%. The highest values achieved by Protocol 2 were 98.57%, 97.83%, 100%, 100% and 100%, respectively.CONCLUSION： A 10 min, 50 mg ^13C-UBT with no test meal using a cut-off value of 2-2.5 is a highly accurate test for the diagnosis of H pylori infection at a reduced cost.

In recent decades,life expectancy has been increasing *** this scenario,health interventions are ne-cessary to improve prognosis and quality of life of elderly with cardiovascular risk factors and cardiovascular ***,the number of elderly patients included in clinical trials is low,thus current clinical practice guidelines do not include specific *** document aims to review prevention recommendations focused in patients≥75 years with high or very high cardiovascular risk,regarding objectives,medical treatment options and also including physical exercise and their inclusion in cardiac rehabilitation ***,we will show why geriatric syndromes such as frailty,dependence,cognitive impair-ment,and nutritional status,as well as comorbidities,ought to be considered in this population regarding their important pro-gnostic impact.

Vibration Control of a Gym floor Using Tuned Mass Dampers: A Numerical Analysis

This work presents a study on excessive vibration problem occurring on concrete slabs, usually used on residential and commercial building floors. Even well designed slabs, according to ultimate and serviceability limit states criteria, can be vulnerable to undesirable vibrations that lead to user discomfort. A gym floor, that presented real excessive vibrations, located in a commercial building situated in the city of Brasilia,Brazil, was analyzed via finite Element Method using ANSYS software. The first step in this analysis was to obtain natural frequencies and vibration modes, the structure presented low natural frequencies representing its flexible behavior. Then it was simulated a dynamic loading of people jumping, characteristic of this type of building occupation. Since it was observed the occurrence of excessive vibrations also in the numerical analysis, a Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) control system was proposed, looking for the best set of dampers to improve the control performance. The parameters for the best vibration reduction were obtained via a parametric study considering four different slabs varying dimensions and support conditions. Different models considering one and more TMDs, varying its placements and parameters, besides the frequency reference value to tune the damper were considered. An efficient control solution to this practical problem is presented to reduce its undesirable vibrations.

Colorectal cancer(CRC)is the second leading cause of cancer-related death *** five-year survival rate of CRC patients depends on the stage at diagnosis,being higher than 80%when CRC is diagnosed in the early stages but lower than 10%when CRC is diagnosed in advanced *** against specific CRC autoantigens(tumor-associated antigens(TAAs))in the sera of patients have been widely demonstrated to aid in early ***,we herein aim to identify autoantigens target of autoantibodies specific to CRC that possess a significant ability to discriminate between CRC patients and healthy individuals by means of liquid *** that end,we examined the protein content of the exosomes released by five CRC cell lines and tissue samples from CRC patients by means of immunoprecipitation coupled with mass spectrometry analysis.A total of 103 proteins were identified as potential autoantigens specific to *** bioinformatics and meta-analysis,we selected 15 proteins that are more likely to be actual CRC autoantigens in order to evaluate their role in CRC prognosis by Western blot(WB)and immunohistochemistry(IHC).We found dysregulation at the protein level for 11 of these proteins in both tissue and plasma exosome samples from patients,along with an association of nine of these proteins with CRC *** validation,all but one showed a statistically significant high diagnostic ability to distinguish CRC patients and individuals with premalignant lesions from healthy individuals,either by luminescence Halotag-based beads,or by a multiplexed biosensing platform involving the use of magnetic microcarriers as solid support modified with covalently immobilized Halotag fusion proteins constructed for CRC *** together,our results highlight the usefulness of the approach defined here to identify the TAAs specific to chronic diseases;they also demonstrate that the measurement of autoantibody levels in plasma against the TAAs identified here

过去几十年中,大量学者对地震前兆中的单物理参量进行了研究,如加速矩释放(Cianchini等,2020)、b值变化(De Santis等,2011)、电离层电子密度和磁场变化(De Santis等,2019a)、粒子沉降(fidani等人,2010)。多数情况下,地震前目标参量会发生扰动,但扰动并不是总出现,即使出现也不确定扰动以何种形式出现。究其原因,主要有两个。一是我们观测的扰动可能是地震产生的次级反应,如断层的应力变化(大部分情况下,断层破裂的深度大约为10～50公里,无法直接测量震源位置的应力情况)。二是地震是一个复杂的现象,涉及岩石层、大气层和电离层整个地球系统。因此,对岩石层、大气层和电离层进行详细研究是理解中等地震(6≤M<7.5)和大地震(M7.5+)的孕震期地球物理特征的最好方法(De Santis等,201 9b)在本文中,我们针对近些年发生的3个7级以上地震震前六个月的岩石层(地震目录)、大气层(气候数据集)和电离层(Swarm和CSEES卫星的电子密度)数据进行了研究。本文研究的地震分别是2018年9月28日发生的印度尼西亚帕卢地震(Mw=7.5),2019年7月6日发生的美国加利福尼亚地震(Mw=7.1)和2020年1月28日发生的牙买加地震(Mw=7.7)。对于每个地震,我们研究发现了一系列现象,这些现象表明观测到的地球物理参数的变化与孕震期有关。对于印度尼西亚7.5级地震,研究发现2018年8月1 9日晚的电子密度增强,并且具有白天所特有的某些特征(赤道电离层异常-EIA)。该现象可能是同一天的其他地震活动引起的,但由于时差较大,我们排除了共震效应。中国地震电磁卫星张衡一号和Swarm Charlie和Alpha卫星均观测到该现象(Marchetti等,2019)。此外,Point Arguello ionosonde和Swarm Alpha卫星观测到201 9年美国加利福尼亚7.1级地震震前电子密度增加(De Santis等,2020),且该扰动出现时间与印度尼西亚地震相似。2020年牙买加7.7级地震的特殊之处在于,其震中位于大海(加勒比海)中,仅被极少的陆地区域包围(最大的陆地区域是牙买加,古巴和海地群岛),因此可以研究海洋对圈层耦合模型的影响。对大气参数(如气溶胶和二氧化硫)的初步研究显示,震前5到3个月会出现扰动现象,扰动位置对应于地震破裂区。以上震例研究显示,震前在大气层和电离层中出现了扰动,虽然扰动表现形式稍有不同,但都指示了孕震期,地球各圈层发生的变化。
