Application of wavelet to strength log from scratch test

This paper proposes a methodology to construct logs of rock strength from the cutting force signal recorded in scratch tests conducted in the ductile *** approach,which is based on the application of discrete wavelet transforms,recognizes the existence of two length scales[c and[*** strength length scale[c represents the length over which it is meaningful to measure strength,while the repeatability length scale[r is related to the resolution at which the force signal must be observed to become insensitive to the stochastic micro-failure events triggered by the motion of the *** is postulated that the original cutting force signal,assumed to be sampled at a high enough frequency,can be decomposed into a deterministic signal intrinsic to the rock and a stochastic one resulting from discrete rock failure *** technique of multiresolution analysis based on the maximal overlap discrete wavelet transform is applied as a low-pass filter to the original cutting force signals so as to wipe out the high-frequency components associated with the stochastic rock failure events.A criterion to determine the optimum cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter and the corresponding repeatability length scale is discussed in terms of the correlation coefficients between different filtered *** is shown that the low-pass filtered signals obtained at the optimum cutoff frequency have two salient features:(i)repeatability over different tests conducted at the same depth of cut on the same sample,and(ii)variability along the cutting *** excellent repeatability reveals that the deterministic background trend of the original force signals is relevant to the rock strength property,and the variability of the background trend captures the spatial variation of the rock strength.

Weighing in on monkeypox against the criteria of public health emergency

The monkeypox,a viral zoonotic disease usually found in forest areas of Central and Western Africa,has spread worldwide through new modes of transmission little *** WHO on 23 July 2022,declared the virus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern(PHEIC).The declaration has stirred criticism from leading scientists that the criteria for PHEIC as defined by International Health Regulation have not been met and it is non-transparent and *** paper reviews the criteria of PHEIC and weighs the rationales behind the declaration to increase the clarity of the WHO's decision,justifications,and legitimacy in the ongoing outbreak.

Ultrashort pulsed laser induced complex surface structures generated by tailoring the melt hydrodynamics

We present a novel approach for tailoring the laser induced surface topography upon femtosecond(fs)pulsed laser *** method employs spatially controlled double fs laser pulses to actively regulate the hydrodynamic microfluidic motion of the melted layer that gives rise to the structures *** pulse train used,in particular,consists of a previously unexplored spatiotemporal intensity combination including one pulse with Gaussian and another with periodically modulated intensity distribution created by Direct Laser Interference Patterning(DLIP).The interpulse delay is appropriately chosen to reveal the contribution of the microfluidic melt flow,while it is found that the sequence of the Gaussian and DLIP pulses remarkably influences the surface profile *** also demonstrate that both the spatial intensity of the double pulse and the effective number of pulses per irradiation spot can further be modulated to control the formation of complex surface *** underlying physical processes behind the complex patterns’generation were interpreted in terms of a multiscale model combining electron excitation with melt *** believe that this work can constitute a significant step forward towards producing laser induced surface structures on demand by tailoring the melt microfluidic phenomena.

Metal-organic frameworks incorporated with C3N4:A visible light enhanced platform for degradation of polybromodiphenyl ethers

A series of nano-photocatalysts metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)/graphitic carbon nitride(CN)(named MOFCN-x) with high activity have been synthesized by in-situ growth *** visible light irradiation, MOFCN-x hybrids show enhanced photocatalytic activity for the debromination of polybromodiphenyl ethers(PBDEs) compared with CN. Among all the hybrids, MOFCN-2 shows the highest reaction rate, which is 3.3 times as high as that in CN. MOFCN-x photocatalysts own stable visible light activity after recycled experiment. It indicates that a moderate amount of MOFs in MOFCN-x can largely enhance the photocatalytic ability by improved visible light absorption, larger specific surface area and better photo-generated charge carriers separation and transfer capabilities. More interestingly,the debromination pathway of PBDEs by MOFCN-x shows obvious selectivity compared with pure CN that bromines at meta-positions are much more susceptible than those at the paraand ortho-positions. The possible photoreductive mechanism has been proposed. This study shows that nanocomposite MOFCN can be an excellent candidate for dealing with halogen pollutants by solar-driven.

自从2001年中国与尼日利亚签订贸易协定以来,两国的贸易获得了持续的发展。本文依据国际贸易主流理论,对中国与尼日利亚双边贸易的影响因素和发展潜力进行分析,目的是了解双边贸易的发展状况,为促进两国贸易的进一步发展提供政策建议。本文采用的研究方法包括文献研究法、比较分析法和实证研究法。第1章阐明了研究的背景和意义,阐述了各国的相关研究状况,提出了研究内容、研究方法以及创新点。第2章阐述了本文研究的基本概念和理论基础。第3章对中国和尼日利亚贸易发展的现状进行了分析,首先分析了尼日利亚经济发展状况,其次分析了中国和尼日利亚贸易发展历程,再次分析了中国和尼日利亚贸易发展的规模和结构,然后分析了中国和尼日利亚贸易发展的竞争性与互补性,最后对中国和尼日利亚双边贸易发展的特点进行了总结。第4章用时变随机前沿引力模型和贸易非效率模型,分析了中国和尼日利亚双边贸易的影响因素和贸易潜力。本文发现,中国和尼日利亚双边贸易发展具有较强的互补性,双边贸易发展的主要特点是:贸易潜力比较大,双边贸易发展不平衡,尼日利亚对中国出口的产品结构单一。中国和尼日利亚的人均GDP增长对双边贸易增长具有显著的正向影响,双边贸易协议和港口基础设施能够促进两国贸易规模的增长。中国对尼日利亚出口贸易效率显著高于双边进出口贸易的效率。中国与尼日利亚双边贸易有很大的发展潜力空间可以拓展。

Frozen Gaussian Approximation for the Dirac Equation in Curved Space with Application to Strained Graphene

In this paper,we derive the frozen Gaussian approximation(FGA)for computing the solution to the Dirac equation in curved space in the semi-classical *** latter equation is used in particular for modeling electronic scattering on strained graphene *** present numerical comparisons of the Dirac solutions on curved and flat spaces,illustrating the focusing effect of graphene surfaces,as well as qualitative comparisons with a tight-binding model.A CPU-time comparison shows that FGA becomes more efficient than an IMEX pseudospectral method when the semiclassical parameter is small.

The essential consideration is the cornerstone of a solid medical care system that provides outstanding health outcomes at a low cost. Medical therapy has evolved over the previous century from concentrating on random etiologies to lifestyle, race, and environmental factors. The aim behind these changes is to serve the public health requirements by delivering frequent and easy services based on the individual, couple, or family. Accurate evaluation of the magnitude by which primary health care contributes to the health care system is essential to the improvement of these contributions and determining next step considerations. The number one factor has been associated with greater access to medical care, better health outcomes, and reduced hospitalization and ER (emergency room) visits. The number one consideration may also help balance the adverse effects of poor financial situations on well-being. Therefore, we need more primary care doctors in the US. Research is also necessary to understand which essential consideration models provide acceptable health results.

Role of RIPK1 in the pathogenesis of acute respiratory distresssyndrome

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a life-threatening pulmonary disease typically caused bymicrobial infections, trauma, inhalation of harmful gases, and other factors. It is characterized by an inflammation inthe lungs and increased alveolar permeability, leading to pulmonary edema and consequently, a low oxygen supply orhypoxemia. ARDS is responsible for 1 in 10 admissions to intensive care units, and the mortality rate for patientswith severe ARDS is as high as 46%. Extensive efforts have been devoted to investigating the pathological mechanismsof ARDS to develop new effective clinical strategies. Recent studies have reported that receptor-interacting serine/threonine kinase 1 (RIPK1) is involved in the pathogenesis of ARDS. RIPK1 is a critical mediator of programmed celldeath and inflammation. Growing evidence suggests that RIPK1 plays a role in the pathogenesis of differentinflammatory diseases and serves as a promising pharmaceutical target. This review summarizes and sheds some lighton the recent findings regarding the role of RIPK1 and related molecules in the pathogenesis of ARDS.

Background:Increasing number of people globally gives in to indiscriminate consumption of excess alcohol as a coping mechanism to relieve any form of physical or psychological ***,ethnomedicinal use of Zingiber officinale Roscoe(Ginger)have been shown to exhibit broad range of pharmacological benefits but no data has reported the phytotherapeutic treatment of Zingiber officinale methanol extract(MEZO)on alcohol-use disorder(AUD)and post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)-induced oxidative and inflammatory stress relevant to disruption of kidney functions in animal ***:To investigate the protective effect of MEZO on kidney-oxidative and inflammatory biomarkers in sub-chronic alcohol exacerbation of PTSD symptoms in ***:Male Swiss mice were administered 30%ethanol for two weeks and thereafter introduced to single pro-longed stress to induce AUD and PTSD respectively prior to post-treatment with MEZO and vitamin *** of oxidative stress,inflammatory cytokines,kidney functions,HPA-axis signaling molecules,vasodilator substance,and histopathology of the kidney were ***:Sub-chronic alcohol intoxication heightened PTSD-induced oxido-inflammatory stress,altered the kidney function indices and HPA-axis,and reduced nitric oxide production,which were ameliorated by the phytother-apeutic treatment with ***,severe degeneration and atrophy of renal tubules were ***,MEZO interventions strongly abated all these ***:Herein,the study shows that phytotherapeutic treatment with MEZO prevents the damaging effects of co-exposure to sub-chronic alcohol intoxication and PTSD.
