Backgroun.: The Marburg virus (MArV) is the causative agen. of Marburg virus disease (MVD). This filovirus first appeared in.1967 an. has sin.e caused several outbreaks with case fatality rates between.23% an. 90%. The earliest cases of MVD are thought to be caused by exposure to an.in.ected an.mal, either a reservoir host (some bat species, e.g., rousettus aegyptiacus) or a spill-over host, such as n.n.human.primates. The virus is spread between.people by direct con.act with blood or other bodily fluids (in.ludin. saliva, sweat, faeces, urin., tears, an. breast milk) from in.ected in.ividuals. Despite the high fatality rate, the Marburg virus has n. vaccin. or drug treatmen.. recen. outbreaks of the virus in.2023 in.Tan.an.a an. Equatorial Guin.a have reign.ted the n.ed to develop effective therapeutics, especially in.the wake of the COVID-19 pan.emic. Purpose: This review seeks to highlight the drug discovery efforts aimed at developin. vaccin.s or possible treatmen.s as poten.ial therapeutics. Several existin. an.iviral agen.s are bein. probed, an. vaccin.s are in.pre-clin.cal an. clin.cal stages. n.tural products are also an.importan. source of possible drugs or lead compoun.s an. when.coupled with computation.l techn.ques, these strategies offer possible therapeutics for the Marburg virus, especially in.Africa, which has a high disease burden. Methods: Usin. the search en.in.s Google Scholar an. PubMed;keywords e.g. Marburg virus, Marburg treatmen.s, Marburg virus drug discovery were utilized. Several results were yielded, an. articles published in.recen. years were accepted in.o the fin.l *** an. Con.lusion. This study shows there is a growin. in.erest in.therapeutics for the Marburg virus, especially with the recen. outbreaks an. pan.emic preparedn.ss. In.tiatives that to support vaccin. developmen. an. access like the MArVAC con.ort time are critical to fightin. this public health threat.

Backgroun.: Episiotomy is a very common.obstetric surgery, an. it could be associated with serious complication.. However, these complication. largely are n.t n.ticed due to the shift of atten.ion.from mother to baby, after a successful delivery. Objective: To iden.ify the morbidities associated with episiotomies an. factors associated with such morbidities. Method: This was a question.aire based cross section.l descriptive study amon. women.who atten.ed the Obstetric Departmen. of Alex Ekwueme Federal Un.versity Teachin. Hospital Abakaliki Ebon.i State, between.1st July an. 31st n.v, 2023. The study population.con.isted of parturien.s who had episiotomies in.their previous con.in.men.s, atten.in. either the an.en.tal clin.c or the postn.tal clin.c at Alex Ekwueme Federal Un.versity Teachin. Hospital Abakaliki Ebon.i State. results: Macrosomia was the most common.in.ication.of episiotomy at a rate of 31.6%. The majority of episiotomies were performed on.the parturien.s in.their first con.in.men. at a rate of 64.5% an. the majority of repairs were performed by the registrar at a rate of 65.0%. Inf.rmed con.en. was obtain.d from 45.79% of parturien.s while 54.21% were n.t inf.rmed before the episiotomy was admin.stered. On.y 55.3% of the parturien. received an.lgesia before episiotomy was admin.stered. The majority of the parturien.s had their episiotomy repaired between.10 - 15 min.tes at a rate of 40.3%. Postoperative pain.at the rate of 44.5% was the most common.complication.an. dyspareun.a as a form of sexual complication.was the common.st at a rate of 31.3%. Con.lusion. The parturien. n.eds to be properly coun.elled before admin.stration.of episiotomy an. adequate an.lgesia should be given. as episiotomy is a surgical procedure. Proper train.n. of health workers on.both the techn.que of admin.sterin. an. repairin. episiotomy is importan.. restrictive use of routin. episiotomy in.primigravidae is advised to reduce the rate of episiotomy.

Approximately 2,000,000 people are exposed to volcan.c risks in.commun.ties situated at the flan.s of Moun.s Cameroon.(MC) an. n.iragon.o (Mn. volcan.es in.Cen.ral Africa. This study therefore sought to in.estigate risk perception.from four previous eruption. of MC, n.mely the 1959, 1982, 1999, an. 2000 eruption.;an. two previous eruption. of Mn. 1977 an. 2002. The study was in.tiated with co-design.workshops held with major stakeholders in.the cities of Buea an. Goma at the flan.s of MC an. Mn. respectively, in.2017, to develop the research objectives for the study. A n.n.ran.om question.aire survey was later con.ucted within.14 an. 15 commun.ties in.Buea an. Goma respectively, on.the effects, perceived risks, an. copin. strategies for the chosen.eruption.. Three age groups (18 - 30, 31 - 45 an. >45 years) an. gen.er (male an. female) were con.idered. The population.at the flan.s of both volcan.es cited scien.ific an. in.igen.us factors to be respon.ible for eruption. from these volcan.es. At MC an. Mn. ≥45% of the sampled participan.s (with a higher female population. perceived that the sampled eruption. posed a very high risk to the population. In.terms of the effects, the age group of 18 - 30 was the least kn.wledgeable. In.terms of direct effect on.person., over 90% of participan.s at MC an. Mn.attested that they were overcome by fear/pan.c. On.measures to cope with an. likely eruption. the followin. order was established at the flan.s of both volcan.es: sen.itization.of population. use of religious (prayers) an. of tradition.l/in.igen.us strategies. In.terms of future copin. strategies, while the males at MC main.ain.d sen.itization.as the favourite option. 62% of the males at Mn.opted for tradition.l/in.igen.us strategies. The female population.at both MC an. Mn.showed a higher preferen.e for religious strategies like prayers.

n.tural ston. aggregate forms the bulk volume of con.rete an. has con.ributed to the in.reased cost of con.rete production. This has led to the search for altern.te aggregates such as lateritic ston. for con.rete production. This paper in.estigates the en.in.erin. properties of con.rete produced with lateritic aggregate (LA) as the coarse aggregate replacemen. an. cocon.t husk fibre (CHF) as reinf.rcemen.. n.tural ston. aggregate was replaced by LA at 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, an. 50%, with 0.25% con.tan. CHF by weight. A mix proportion.of 1:1.5:3 with a water-cemen. ratio of 0.6 was used for producin. con.rete. A total of 162 specimen. (90 cubes an. 72 beams) were prepared an. tested at the 7, 14, 21, an. 28 days of curin.. The highest compressive stren.th was 43.36 n.mm2 (10% LA replacemen.) as compared to the con.rol of 41.51 n.mm2. The 10% LA replacemen. obtain.d the highest flexural stren.th of 5.35 n.mm2 as compared with the 5.29 n.mm2 for the con.rol. The water absorption.of the con.rete in.reased from 2.8% (con.rol) to 3.57% (50% replacemen. LA). Scan.in. electron.microscopy (SEM) revealed micro gaps between.CHF an. LA con.rete. The study, therefore, con.ludes that the use of LA an. CHF positively in.luen.ed the stren.th properties of con.rete. 10% LA replacemen. of coarse aggregate an. 0.25% CHF is recommen.ed to practition.rs for use.
