Background: The current competitive banking environment in Ghana demands that banks identify the factors key to their survival and work on these factors to ensure they remain in business. This involves the banks knowing what influences customers to choose to do business with one bank over the other. Objective: The study aimed at determining the factors the influence Technical University student’s selection of banks. Methods: Data from a cross-sectional survey of 545 student respondents of Takoradi Technical University was analysed using the statistical technique of factor analysis. Results: Four factors were adduced to be influencing bank selection amongst Takoradi Technical University students: namely, Robust E-banking, Customer Experience, Access to ATMs and Third Party Influence. Conclusion: While some of the factors are universal in nature others present with subtle nuances dependent on the milieu in which a bank finds itself, making it imperative that banks study the market in which they are operating and implement strategies deemed most suitable for attracting and retaining customers.

Background: This paper is a follow up to an earlier one on a study that sought to determine the factors that, in general, influence Takoradi Technical University students’ selection of banks, given the keen competition in the banking sector in Ghana. Having found the said factors in the first study, and in the face of evidence of a difference in the factors that influence bank choice elsewhere with respect to sex, the study whose findings is the subject of this paper sought to establish whether there is any such dichotomy amongst Takoradi Technical University students. Objectives: The study sought to 1) determine the factors that influence the selection of banks by males, 2) determine the factors that influence the selection of banks by females, and 3) determine whether there are any differences and similarities between male and female students with respect to the factors that influence bank selection. Methods: Data was obtained from 545 students, comprising 364 male students and 181 female students through a cross-sectional survey and was analysed using the statistical method of factor analysis, having initially established through the chi-square test of independence that bank choice and sex are not independent. Results: Four (4) factors were identified as influencing bank selection amongst the female students as against six (6) in the case of the male students. The factors identified for the female students are Customer Experience, Third Party Influence, E-banking, and Access to ATMs and that for the male students are Secure E-banking, Customer Experience, Promotion Strategy, Intelligent Responsiveness, Access to ATMs and Third Party Influence. Conclusion: Male and female students of Takoradi Technical University differ with respect to some of factors that influence bank choice. Even for the factors that are common, the importance female students attach to them is not the same as

Accurate and reliable fault detection is essential for the safe operation of electric *** vector data description(SVDD)has been widely used in the field of fault ***,constructing the hypersphere boundary only describes the distribution of unlabeled samples,while the distribution of faulty samples cannot be effectively described and easilymisses detecting faulty data due to the imbalance of sample ***,selecting parameters is critical to the detection performance,and empirical parameterization is generally timeconsuming and laborious and may not result in finding the optimal ***,this paper proposes a semi-supervised data-driven method based on which the SVDD algorithm is improved and achieves excellent fault detection *** incorporating faulty samples into the underlying SVDD model,training deals better with the problem of missing detection of faulty samples caused by the imbalance in the distribution of abnormal samples,and the hypersphere boundary ismodified to classify the samplesmore *** Bayesian Optimization NSVDD(BO-NSVDD)model was constructed to quickly and accurately optimize hyperparameter *** the experiments,electric vehicle operation data with four common fault types are used to evaluate the performance with other five models,and the results show that the BO-NSVDD model presents superior detection performance for each type of fault data,especially in the imperceptible early and minor faults,which has seen very obvious ***,the strong robustness of the proposed method is verified by adding different intensities of noise in the dataset.

We study the acoustomagnetoelectric (AME) effect in two-dimensional graphene with an energy bandgap using the semiclassical Boltzmann transport equation within the hypersound regime, (where represents the acoustic wavenumber and is the mean free path of the electron). The Boltzmann transport equation and other relevant equations were solved analytically to obtain an expression for the AME current density, consisting of longitudinal and Hall components. Our numerical results indicate that both components of the AME current densities display oscillatory behaviour. Furthermore, geometric resonances and Weiss oscillations were each defined using the relationship between the current density and Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) frequency and the inverse of the applied magnetic field, respectively. Our results show that the AME current density of bandgap graphene, which can be controlled to suit a particular electronic device application, is smaller than that of (gapless) graphene and is therefore, more suited for nanophotonic device applications.

Granitoids at Butre area, south-western part of the Birimian of Ghana are gabbro to granodiorite which intruded comagmatic basalt and andesite of volcanic island arc setting. Differentiation was from probably mantle fractionates on tholeiitic basalt trend through gabbro-diorite and granodiorite. Yet, the diorite intruded into the volcanic rocks prior to plate collision. Plagioclase feldspars of labradorite to andesine compositions (An52 - An48), amphibole and pyroxene are in association with accessory tourmaline, actinolite, apatite and garnet. Relict amphibolite facies metamorphism is preserved in xenoliths in gabbro to diorite which show greenschist facies. Generally, plagioclase is partially altered to fine quartz, sericite and carbonates whereas chlorite and epidote are of amphibole alteration. These alterations are typical of carbonatisation but diorite shows partial carbonate-sericite alteration. Alterations followed granodiorite emplacement. Arsenopyrite and pyrite accompanied emplacement of diorite and granodiorite respectively while amphibolite facies metamorphism introduced magnetite;haematite and pyrrhotite accompanied greenschist facies metamorphism. Earlier opaque minerals possibly were consumed to form later minerals. All the rocks are LREE depleted (La/Sm chondrite normalised ratios of basalt = 0.8 to 2.5;andesite = 2.03;diorite = 1.95 to 3.1;gabbro-diorite = 0.9 to 2.05;granodiorite = 1.66);diorite, basalt and andesite are fairly enriched in HREE. Enrichment of FeOT, MgO, SiO2, CaO and depletion of TiO2, K2O and Zr might be linked with carbonitisation, sericitisation, chloritisation, silicification and sulphidation linked to gold mineralisations in the Birimian of Ghana.

In this study, we prove the of existence of solutions of a convolution Volterra integral equation in the space of the Lebesgue integrable function on the set of positive real numbers and with the standard norm defined on it. An operator P was assigned to the convolution integral operator which was later expressed in terms of the superposition operator and the nonlinear operator. Given a ball Br belonging to the space L it was established that the operator P maps the ball into itself. The Hausdorff measure of noncompactness was then applied by first proving that given a set M∈ B r the set is bounded, closed, convex and nondecreasing. Finally, the Darbo fixed point theorem was applied on the measure obtained from the set E belonging to M. From this application, it was observed that the conditions for the Darbo fixed point theorem was satisfied. This indicated the presence of at least a fixed point for the integral equation which thereby implying the existence of solutions for the integral equation.

Manadas Creek is an urban tributary of the Rio Grande that flows past a decommissioned antimony smelter and processing plant. This antimony plant is associated with heavy metal contamination in the creek and still poses a threat to the surrounding aquatic environment. Corbicula fluminea was used to determine bioaccumulation from the water column and sediments in Manadas Creek. The metals arsenic (As), antimony (Sb) and thallium (Tl) were analyzed in the water, sediments, gills, mantle, foot, digestive (DI) tract, gonads and shell of clams being monitored at eight sites between March and August 2013. Sediment, water, and dissected Corbicula fluminea samples from different sites in the Creek were acid-digested and analyzed by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy. High levels of antimony (25.88 ug/L;75.96 mg/kg) and arsenic (8.26 ug/L;6.41 mg/kg) in the water and sediments were observed at the site downstream from the smelter. There were no detectable concentrations of arsenic, antimony, or thallium in the shell of C. fluminea. Arsenic and antimony were detected in the tissues of C. fluminea but thallium was not detected. Based on the results, the organotropism for arsenic is DI tract > gills > gonads > foot > mantle > shell and the organotropism for antimony is gills > DI tract > gonads > mantle > foot > shell. This study shows that the Asiatic clam (Corbicula fluminea) is a useful bio-monitor to provide data on the status of metal pollution in Manadas Creek, Laredo, Texas.

BACKGROUND Smartwatches have become readily accessible tools for detecting atrial fibrillation(AF).There remains limited data on how they affect psychosocial outcomes and engagement in older *** examine the health behavior outcomes of stroke survivors prescribed smartwatches for AF detection stratified by *** We analyzed data from the Pulsewatch study,a randomized controlled trial that enrolled patients(≥50 years)with a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack and CHA2DS2-VASc≥*** participants were equipped with a cardiac patch monitor and a smartwatch-app dyad,while control participants wore the cardiac patch monitor for up to 44 *** evaluated health behavior parameters using standardized tools,including the Consumer Health Activation Index,the Generalized Anxiety Disorder questionnaire,the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey,and wear time of participants categorized into three age groups:Group 1(ages 50-60),Group 2(ages 61-69),and Group 3(ages 70-87).We performed statistical analysis using a mixedeffects repeated measures linear regression model to examine differences amongst age *** Comparative analysis between Groups 1,2 and 3 revealed no significant differences in anxiety,patient activation,perception of physical health and wear *** use of smartwatch technology was associated with a decrease in perception of mental health for Group 2 compared to Group 1(β=-3.29,P=0.046).CONCLUSION Stroke survivors demonstrated a willingness to use smartwatches for AF ***,among these study participants,the majority did not experience negative health behavior outcomes or decreased engagement as age increased.

The dependence of groundwater quality on borehole depth is usually debatable in groundwater studies, especially in complex geological formations where aquifer characteristics vary spatially with depth. This study therefore seeks to investigate the relationship between borehole depth and groundwater quality across the granitoid aquifers within the Birimian Supergroup in the Ashanti Region. Physicochemical analysis records of groundwater quality data were collected from 23 boreholes of public and private institutions in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, and the parametric values of iron, fluoride, total hardness, pH, nitrate, and nitrite were used to study the groundwater quality-depth relationship. The results showed that the depth-to-groundwater quality indicated a marginal increase in water quality in the range of 30 to 50 m, which is mathematically represented by the low-value correlation coefficient (r2 = 0.026). A relatively significant increase occurs in the depth range of 50 to 80 m, which is given by a correlation coefficient of r2 = 0.298. The mean percent parameter compatibility was 74%, 82%, 89%, and 97% at 50, 60, 70, and 80 m depths, respectively. The variations in groundwater quality per depth ratio ranged from 1.48, 1.37, 1.27, and 1.21 for 50, 60, 70, and 80 m depth, respectively. The recommended minimum borehole depth for excellent groundwater quality is suggested with a compatibility per meter depth ratio of 1.37. This results in a range between 50 and 70 m as the most desirable drilling depth for excellent groundwater quality within the granitoids of the Birimian Supergroup of the Ashanti Region in Ghana.

Evaluation of Human Impacts on Bartlett Pond Ecosystem, Laredo, Southern Texas, USA, through Empirical Modeling

The trace elements chemistry of Bartlett Pond, a small shallow wetland pond in Laredo, Southern Texas, was sampled to evaluate the dynamics of trace elements impacts on water quality and ecosystems ecology of the pond. Two types of fish (bass and tilapia) were also sampled to see the trace element accumulation in different parts of their body. The concentrations of trace elements in water samples were found in the following order: Fe ≫Sb > Pb > As ≫Co > Tl > Cr > Cd within Bartlett Pond. Overall, the water quality of the pond is unacceptable for drinking and any other purposes as trace element concentrations (e.g. As, Cd, Co, Cr, Pb, Fe, Sb and Tl) are exceedingly higher (several fold) than the WHO and US EPA guidelines. Predictive and correlation analysis shows that most trace elements exhibit a strong positive correlation among them indicating the same anthropogenic sources and biogeochemical processes regulate these trace elements within the pond. Distributions of the trace elements in water exhibit different shapes mostly as positively skewed distribution for As, Cd, Co, Cr, and Tl, symmetrical distribution for Fe and almost symmetrical distribution for Pb and Sb. Concentrations of As, Co and Tl accumulated much higher in different parts of the Bass than Tilapia fish. The concentrations of As, Tl, Co, and Sb appeared significantly higher in different parts of the body of both Bass and Tilapia than the maximum SRM certified values. Accumulation of these contaminants in fish tissues pose increased health risks to humans who consume these contaminated fish although fishing is prohibited. Anthropogenic activities in the region primarily degrade the whole pond ecosystem ecology of the Bartlett Pond and waters of this pond to be not recommended for any use. These findings may be useful for the scientific community and concerned authorities to improve understanding about these precious natural resources and conservation of the ecosystem ecology.
