Multi-site Passivation of ZnO Metal Oxides via Biomolecules for Efficient and Highly Stable Organic Solar Cells

ZnO nanoparticles(nps)among metal oxide(MOs)are proven to be essential electron transporting layers(ETLs)applied in organic solar cells(OSCs).However,intrinsic defects,interfacial charge recombination,and catalytic behavior towards the active layer restrict the applications of ZnO nps for efficient and long-term stable *** commonly available biomolecule cytidine 5'-monophosphate(CMP-OH)with phosphonic acid,its salt cytidine 5'-monophosphate disodium salt(CMP-ONa)with a phosphate group as an anchoring group and conjugated terminal functional in both analogous molecules provide carrier transfer bridge at bottom interface of the active *** theoretical investigations and characterizations have discovered the multi-site coordination of CMP-OH towards acceptor molecules and ZnO *** dual-side alignment of CMP analogous molecules hinders interfacial charge recombination and enhances charge transfer potential at ***,PM6:L8-BO-based OSCs with modified ETL obtain 18.13%efficiency,12%higher than that of unmodified *** higher efficiency,CMP-OH-based OSC devices illustrate remarkably improved thermal stability for 500 h at 85℃with 72%of initial PCE and operation stability for 2000 h with 90.1%of initial *** work reveals the passivation mechanism of multi-anchoring groups towards MOs and single-functional groups towards the active layer to optimize the interface for efficient and highly stable OSCs.

Homegardens as a Source of Income for Rural Households A Case Study of Bieha District, Southern Burkina Faso

This exploratory research studied the contribution of homegardens to household income generation. In Burkina Faso, the Bieha department was purposively selected. The initial rapid rural appraisal was complemented by a household survey. Tools of data collection included observation, key informant interview, and focus group discussion. For the survey, eighty households were selected based on systematic sampling. Data was collected by individual interviews at household level, and for statistical calculations, the households were subsequently categorized as small, medium and commercial based on their homegarden size. It was found that all the surveyed households managed homegardens composed of trees, crops and animals. Majority of the farmers （43%） belonged to the small category due to land constraints. Generally, farms contributed more income than the plant component of homegardens. However, when the livestock component of homegardens was added, homegardens became far more important than farms and accounted for over 60% of income generation for all categories. It can be concluded that homegardens are important to rural people for food and cash income.

With the increasing use of electronic gadgets, the effects of electromagnetic waves on sperm quality have been reported. This study evaluated the capacity of seminal antioxidants to protect spermatozoa from the effects of exposure to non-ionizing cellular phone radiation on markers of semen quality and DNA integrity in an in-vitro model. A total of seventy-three (73) patients attending a fertility centre in Sakumono, Tema metropolis were recruited for this study. About 2 - 3 mls of freshly ejaculated semen was neatly collected by masturbation with consent and analysed according to the 2010 WHO standard semen analysis. A portion of Semen was exposed to non-ionizing cellular phone radiation for three (3) hours. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity levels and DNA fragmentation index (DFI) were determined before and after exposure. Data was entered and analysed using SPSS version 20.00 and Graph pad prism. DFI was positively associated with immobility (r = 0.233;p = 0.05) and negatively associated with percentage progressive motility (r = -0.258;p = 0.028), percentage total motility (r = -0.233;p = 0.05) and SOD levels (r = -0.270;p = 0.028). There was a significant positive linear relationship between SOD and progressive motility (r = 0.451;p < 0.0001), vitality (r = 0.725;p < 0.0001) and total motility (r = 0.705, p = 0.05). Higher seminal SOD level is protective against the damaging effects of electromagnetic waves on sperm quality.

The interaction effect of foreign capital inflows and financial development on economic welfare in sub-Saharan Africa

This study examines the interaction effects of foreign capital inflows and financial development on economic welfare in sub-Saharan Africa(SSA).Estimates based on the system-GMM estimator using panel data on 23 SSA countries for 2000 to 2013 establish several ***,the interaction between foreign capital inflows and financial development positively affects economic welfare in ***,this effect was negative after one ***,the partial indirect effects of foreign capital inflows on economic welfare,conditional on the level of financial development,are positive,though they become negative after one ***,the total effect of foreign capital inflows on economic welfare is *** effect becomes negative after a year,though the predominant source of financial development is domestic *** consistency of these results indicates the importance of financial development in transmitting foreign capital to economic welfare *** the SSA’s financial sector to meet specific welfare-enhancing demands may potentially convert a large share of capital inflows into improved economic welfare and eliminate the negative effects.

Task offloading is an important concept for edge computing and the Internet of Things(IoT)because computationintensive tasksmust beoffloaded tomore resource-powerful remote *** has several advantages,including increased battery life,lower latency,and better application performance.A task offloading method determines whether sections of the full application should be run locally or offloaded for execution *** offloading choice problem is influenced by several factors,including application properties,network conditions,hardware features,and mobility,influencing the offloading system’s operational *** study provides a thorough examination of current task offloading and resource allocation in edge computing,covering offloading strategies,algorithms,and factors that influence *** offloading and partial offloading strategies are the two types of offloading *** algorithms for task offloading and resource allocation are then categorized into two parts:machine learning algorithms and non-machine learning *** examine and elaborate on algorithms like Supervised Learning,Unsupervised Learning,and Reinforcement Learning(RL)under machine *** the non-machine learning algorithm,we elaborate on algorithms like non(convex)optimization,Lyapunov optimization,Game theory,Heuristic Algorithm,Dynamic Voltage Scaling,Gibbs Sampling,and Generalized Benders Decomposition(GBD).Finally,we highlight and discuss some research challenges and issues in edge computing.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of recapitalization on the bank?s performance in the Ghanaian banking sector between 2006 and *** a panel data set of 25 banks with a robust fixed effect,random effect,and ordinary least squares,the findings on recapitalization in the Ghanaian banking industry is ***,we find significant difference in bank performance across the different recapitalization regimes where performance after the recapitalization *** implied that recapitalization partly contributed to the improved performance of ***,we find that recapitalization has both propelling and derailing effect on ***,while recapitalization propelled operational profitability performance（Net interest margins and Loan portfolio profitability）,recapitalization reduced financiers profitability（ROA）.Third,we find that recapitalization had varying effect given the ownership structure and the form or type of profitability under ***,while recapitalization reinforced operational profitability（NIM and LPP）for foreign,local,listed and unlisted banks,recapitalization at the same time dampened bank financiers? profitability（ROA and ROE）for foreign and listed banks,***,we established a nonlinear direct “U” shape effect which runs from recapitalization to the different bank performance *** these findings,we conclude that recapitalization should be healthy for the banking sector as continuous increment in the capital base enhanced operational *** is buttressed by the evidence from Ecobank?s case that recapitalization actually had positive effect on net interest margin（NIM）and returns on asset（ROA）.Also,there is the need for prudence on the side of banks and Bank of Ghana to ensure that the maximum benefits that come with the recapitalization regulation are fully ***,a high level of capitalization is prudent for recapitalization to have a desirable effec

水介质中环境污染物刺激响应微系统的构建因其仿生特性而得到了应有的重视。已经开发了不同的方法来制定这些系统,以满足系统的目的。在环境修复中,微系统是首选,特别是在水介质中进行处理时,由于其承受水力负荷的能力和稳定性。膜材料决定了微反应器系统的稳定性,因此小颗粒材料是首选。为此,粘土矿物,如蒙脱石,已应用于这方面的几个研究。微胶囊具有仿生功能和光响应特性,在环境修复中具有重要意义。这是因为它屏蔽了环境中的重要元素,在修复过程中,由干选择性渗透膜,同时利用光能加速化学反应过程,在整个修复过程中有机污染物的矿化作用。利用MMT、g-C3N4和Fe3O4构建了一个具有磁性的刺激响应型仿生微反应器系统。采用UV-vis-DRS、傅立叶变换红外光谱和光学显微镜对微胶囊的光学和化学性质进行了研究。光学显微镜图像显示微胶囊大小不一,这是由于手持均质机剪切不均匀所致。结果表明,当g-C3N4浓度由4mg/g增加到32mg/g时,单位重量吸附U(Ⅵ)量由109.6mg/g增加到153.54mg/g,g-C3N4浓度是决定U(Ⅵ)去除率的关键。pH5是微胶囊光催化吸附U(Ⅵ)的最佳pH条件,吸附效率为95.7%。在最佳温度条件(323.15K)下,吸附效率为99%。结果表明,MMT/g-C3N4/Fe3O4微胶囊是一种从水溶液中摄取微量U(VⅥ)的理想材料。

Stakeholders’ Compliance with Existing Construction Health and Safety Related Laws and Regulations in Ghana

This paper explored stakeholders’ compliance with existing laws and regulations related to construction health and safety (CHS) in the Ghanaian construction industry (GCI). Qualitative research approach was adopted for the data collection, using semi-structured interview guide. An in-depth face-to-face interview based on the grounded theory approach was conducted with actors who play important roles in ensuring health and safety at the construction site as well as key officers and professionals who are the major stakeholders in the GCI. Content analysis was adopted for the analysis of the qualitative data. The findings of the study show customary laws, bye laws, Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) and the contract document as the key existing CHS related laws and regulations that the stakeholders comply with. The stakeholders also identified the following construction health and safety related regulations in the GCI which have low compliance rate: Factories, Shops and Offices Act, 1974 (Act 323), Environmental Protection Act, 1994 (Act 490), among others. The findings of the research contribute to knowledge of stakeholders’ compliance with existing laws and regulations related to CHS, and underscore the need to ensure monitoring and enforce compliance in the GCI. The findings further identify areas for stakeholders to focus attention on ensuring good health and safety practices, and also expose critical training and education needs for stakeholders in the GCI. The findings provide valuable insights on stakeholders’ compliance with laws and regulations related to CHS in Ghana, which may be applicable to other developing countries with similar construction industry.

Modelling die filling with charged particles using DEM/CFD

The effects of electrostatic charge on powder flow behaviour during die filling in a vacuum and in air were analysed using a coupled discrete element method and computational fluid dynamics （DEM]CFD） code, in which long range electrostatic interactions were implemented. The present 2D simulations revealed that both electrostatic charge and the presence of air can affect the powder flow hehaviour during die filling. It was found that the electrostatic charge inhibited the flow of powders into the die and induced a loose packing structure. At the same filling speed, increasing the electrostatic charge led to a decrease in the fill ratio which quantifies the volumetric occupancy of powder in the die. In addition, increasing the shoe speed caused a further decrease in the fill ratio, which was characterised using the concept of critical filling speed, When the electrostatic charge was low, the air/particle interaction was strong so that a lower critical filling speed was obtained for die filling in air than in a vacuum. With high electrostatic charge, the electrostatic interactions became dominant. Consequently, similar fill ratio and critical filling speed were obtained for die filling in air and in a vacuum.
