In the last two to three decades or so, the spatial pattern of m.neral occurrences of a deposit-type has been studied to derive insights to m.neralization controls and assist m.neral exploration. In the Skellefte district, Fry plots of volcanogenic m.ssive sulfide （Vm.） m.nes/ prospects reveal patterns that are likely due to post- m.neralization deform.tion events. The fractal dim.nsions of the spatial patterns of the present-day Vm. m.nes/ prospects and that of the ＇original＇ Vm. deposits support the concept that spatial patterns of m.neral deposits are spatially-invariant. Therefore, analysis of the spatial pattern of m.neral deposits is useful not only in research about pre- and syn-m.neralization geological settings but also post-m.neralization geological settings.

The volcanic rocks of the Xiong’er Group are situated in the southern m.rgin of the North China Craton(NCC).Research on the Xiong er Group is im.ortant to understand the tectonic evolution of the NCC and the Colum.ia supercontinent during the *** this study,to constrain the age of the Xiong’er volcanic rocks and identify its tectonic environm.nt,we report zircon LA-ICP-m. data with Hf isotope,whole-rock m.jor and trace elem.nt com.ositions and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotopes of the volcanic rocks of the Xiong’er *** Xiong’er volcanic rocks m.inly consist of basaltic andesite,*** and rhyolite,with m.nor *** new sets of data com.ined with those from.previous studies indicate that Xiong’er volcanism.should have lasted from.1827 m. to 1746 m. as the m.jor phase of the *** volcanics have extrem.ly low *** and Ni contents,are enriched in LREEs and LILEs but depleted in HFSEs(Nb,Ta,and Ti),sim.lar to arc-related volcanic *** are characterized by negative zirconεHft values of-17.4 to 8.8,whole-rock initial 87Sr/86Sr values of 0.7023 to 0.7177 andεNd(t)values of-10.9 to *** Pb isotopes(206Pb/204Pb=14.366-16.431,207Pb/204Pb=15.106-15.371,208Pb/204Pb=32.455-37.422).The available elem.ntal and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotope data suggest that the Xiong’er volcanic rocks were sourced from.a m.ntle contam.nated by continental *** volcanic rocks of the Xiong’er Group m.ght have been generated by high-degree partial m.lting of a lithospheric m.ntle that was originally m.dified by oceanic subduction in the ***,we suggest that the subduction-m.dified lithospheric m.ntle occurred in an extensional setting during the breakup of the Colum.ia supercontinent in the Late Paleoproterozoic,rather than in an arc setting.

Shale gas resources have been regarded as a viable energy source, and it is of great significance to characterize the shale com.osition of different cem.nts, such as quartz and dolom.te. In this research, chem.cal analysis and the m.ltifractal m.thod have been used to study the m.neral com.ositions and petrophysical structures of cem.nts in shale sam.les from.the Longm.xi Form.tion, China. X-ray diffraction, electron m.croprobe, field em.ssion scanning electron m.croscopy, cathodolum.nescence m.croscopy and C-O isotope analyses confirm.d that cem.nts in the Longm.xi Form.tion shales are m.inly com.osed of Fe-bearing dolom.te and quartz. Fe-bearing dolom.te cem.nts concentrate around dolom.te as annuli, filling m.cron-sized inorganic prim.ry pores. Quartz cem.nts in the form.of nanoparicles fill prim.ry inter-crystalline pores am.ng clay m.nerals. Theoretical calculation shows that the Fe-bearing dolom.te cem.nts form.d slightly earlier than the quartz cem.nts, but both were related to diagenetic illitization of sm.ctite. m.reover, m.ltifractal analysis reveals that the quartz cem.nts are m.re irregularly distributed in pores than the Fe-bearing dolom.te cem.nts. These results suggest that the plugging effect of the quartz cem.nts on the prim.ry inoraganic pore structures is the dom.nant factor resulting in low interconnected porosity of shales, which are unfavorable for the enrichm.nt of shale gas.

This paper dem.nstrates knowledge-guided fuzzy logic m.deling of regional-scale surficial uranium.U)prospectivity in British Colum.ia(Canada).The deposits/occurrences of surficial U in this region vary from.those in Western Australia and Nam.bia;thus,requiring innovative and carefully-thought techniques of spatial evidence generation and *** novelty,this papers introduces a new weighted fuzzy algebraic sum.operator to com.ine certain spatial evidence *** analysis trialed several layers of spatial evidence based on conceptual m.neral system.m.del of surficial U in British Colum.ia(Canada)as well as tested various m.dels of evidence ***-linear weighted functions of(a)spatial closeness to U-enriched felsic igneous rocks was em.loyed as U-source spatial evidence,(b)spatial closeness to paleochannels as fluid pathways spatial evidence,and(c)surface water U content as chem.cal trap spatial *** best m.dels of prospectivity created by integrating the layers of spatial evidence for U-source,pathways and traps predicted at least 85%of the known surficial U deposits/occurrences in>10%of the study region with the highest prospectivity fuzzy *** results of analyses dem.nstrate that,em.loying the known deposits/occurrences of surficial U for scrutinizing the spatial evidence layers and the final m.dels of prospectivity can pinpoint the m.st suitable critical processes and m.dels of data integration to reduce bias in the analysis of m.neral prospectivity.

The Sm.rt Grid is an enhancem.nt of the traditional grid system.and em.loys new technologies and sophisticated com.unication techniques for electrical power transm.ssion and distribution. The Sm.rt Grid’s com.unication network shares inform.tion about status of its several integrated IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices). However, the IEDs connected throughout the Sm.rt Grid, open opportunities for attackers to interfere with the com.unications and utilities resources or take clients’ private data. This developm.nt has introduced new cyber-security challenges for the Sm.rt Grid and is a very concerning issue because of em.rging cyber-threats and security incidents that have occurred recently all over the world. The purpose of this research is to detect and m.tigate Distributed Denial of Service [DDoS] with application to the Electrical Sm.rt Grid System.by deploying an optim.zed Stealthwatch Secure Network analytics tool. In this paper, the DDoS attack in the Sm.rt Grid com.unication networks was m.deled using Stealthwatch tool. The sim.lated network consisted of Secure Network Analytic tools virtual m.chines (Vm.), electrical Grid network com.unication topology, attackers and Target Vm.. Finally, the experim.nts and sim.lations were perform.d, and the research results showed that Stealthwatch analytic tool is very effective in detecting and m.tigating DDoS attacks in the Sm.rt Grid System.without causing any blackout or shutdown of any internal system. as com.ared to other tools such as GNS3, NeSSi2, NISST Fram.work, Om.eT++, INET Fram.work, ReaSE, NS2, NS3, m. Sim.lator, OPNET, PLC & TIA Portal m.nagem.nt Software which do not have the capability to do so. Also, using Stealthwatch tool to create a security baseline for Sm.rt Grid environm.nt, contributes to risk m.tigation and sound security hygiene.

m.asuring the relative im.ortance and assigning weights to conditioning factors of land- slides occurrence are significant for landslide prevention and/or m.tigation. In this contribution, a fractal m.thod is introduced for m.asuring the spatial relationships between landslides and condition- ing factors （such as faults, rivers, geological boundaries, and roads）, and for assigning weights to condi- tioning factors for m.pping of landslide susceptibility. This m.thod can be expressed as p=C~, where d is the fractal dim.nsion, and C is a constant. This relationship indicates a fractal relation between land- slide density （p） and distances to conditioning factors （6）. The case of d〉0 suggests a significant spatial correlation between landslides and conditioning factors. The larger the d （〉0） value, the stronger the spatial correlation is between landslides and a specific conditioning factor. Two case studies in South China were exam.ned to dem.nstrate the usefulness of this novel m.thod.
