This paper contributes to the well-known challenge of active user participation in demand side management(DSM).In DSM, there is a need for modern pricing mechanisms that will be able to effectively incentivize selfishly behaving users in modifying their energy consumption pattern towards system-level goals like energy *** generally desired properties of DSM algorithms are: user satisfaction, energy cost minimization and *** this paper, a personalized real-time pricing(P-RTP) mechanism design framework is proposed that fairly allocates the energy cost reduction only to the users that provoke ***, the proposed mechanism achieves significant reduction of the energy cost without sacrificing at all the welfare(user satisfaction)of electricity *** business model that the proposed mechanism envisages is highly competitive flexibility market environments as well as energy cooperatives.

Liberalized electricity markets,smart grids and high penetration of renewable energy sources(RESs)led to the development of novel markets,whose objective is the harmonization between production and demand,usually noted as real time of flexibility *** necessitates the development of novel pricing schemes able to allow energy service providers(ESPs)to maximize their aggregated profits from the traditional markets(trading between wholesale/day-ahead and retail markets)and the innovative flexibility *** the same time,ESPs have to offer their end users(consumers)competitive(low cost)energy *** this context,novel pricing schemes must act,among others,as automated demand side management(DSM)techniques that are able to trigger the desired behavioral changes according to the flexibility market prices in energy consumption curves(ECCs)of the *** pricing schemes proposed so far,*** pricing,interact in an efficient way with wholesale *** they do not provide consumers with strong enough financial incentives to modify their energy consumption habits towards energy cost ***,they do not interact efficiently with flexibility ***,we develop a flexibility real-time pricing(FRTP)scheme,which offers a dynamically adjustable level of financial incentives to participating users by fairly rewarding the ones that make desirable behavioral changes in their *** evaluation results demonstrate that the proposed FRTP is able to offer a 15%–30%more attractive trade-off between the stacked profits of ESPs,*** sum of the profits from retail and flexibility markets,and the satisfaction of consumers.

AIM： To evaluate whether the cellular proliferation rate in the large bowel epithelial cells is characterized by circadian rhythm. METHODS： Between January 2003 and December 2004, twenty patients who were diagnosed as suffering from primary, resectable, non-metastatic adenocarcinoma of the lower rectum, infiltrating the sphincter mechanism, underwent abdominoperineal resection, total mesorectal excision and permanent left iliac colostomy. In formalinfixed and paraffin-embedded biopsy specimens obtained from the colostomy mucosa every six hours （00：00, 06：00, 12：00, 18：00 and 24：00）, we studied the expression of G1 phase cyclins （D1 and E） as well as the expression of the G1 phase cyclin-dependent kinase （CDK） inhibitors p16 and p21 as indicators of cell cycle progres- sion in colonic epithelial cells using immunohistochemical methods. RESULTS： The expression of both cyclins showed a similar circadian fashion obtaining their lowest and highest values at 00：00 and 18：00, respectively （P〈 0.001）. A circadian rhythm in the expression of CDK inhibitor proteins p16 and p21 was also observed, with the lowest levels obtained at 12：00 and 18：00 （P〈0.001）, respectively. When the complexes cyclins D1-p21 and E-p21 were examined, the expression of the cyclins was adversely correlated to the p21 expression throughout the day. When the complexes the cyclins D1-p16 and E-p16 were examined, high levels of p16 expression were correlated to low levels of cyclin expression at 00：00, 06：00 and 24：00. Meanwhile, the highest expression levels of both cyclins were correlated to high levels of p16 expression at 18：00. CONCLUSION： Colonic epithelial cells seem to enter the G1 phase of the cell cycle during afternoon （between 12：00 and 18：00） with the highest rates obtained at 18：00. From a clinical point of view, the present results suggest that G1-phase specific anticancer therapies in afternoon might maximize their anti-tumor effect while minimizing toxicity.

Marchalina hellenica (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Margarodidae) is the most important honeydew producing insect in Greece. It was referred as monophagus, feeding exclusively on pine trees, until 1995 when it was successfully established on fir trees after artificial “inoculation” at Menalo and Helmos mountains. In this scientific note, the first record of natural relocation of M. hellenica from pine to fir trees is referred.

Aim： To investigate the frequency of atypical adenomatous hyperplasia （AAH） and its associations with benign prostate hypertrophy （BPH） and latent histological carcinoma of the prostate （LPC） in autopsy material. Methods： Two hundred and twelve prostate specimens obtained from autopsy material were subjected to whole mount analysis in an attempt to investigate the associations among BPH, AAH and LPC. Results： Most histological carcinomas and AAH lesions were found in enlarged prostates with intense hypertrophy. No statistically significant relation was found between BPH and the main characteristics of LPC, such as tumor volume, histological differentiation and biological behavior. Our data regarding multi-focal tumors showed a tendency for multi-focal carcinomas to develop in larger prostates, and a tendency of AAH lesions to develop in larger prostates. No statistically significant relation was found between AAH and LPC. Conclusion： There seems not any causative aetiopathogenetical or topographical relation between AAH lesions and prostate adenocarcinoma. AAH lesion seems to be a well-defined mimicker of prostatic adenocarcinoma, and the reported association of AAH with prostatic carcinoma could probably be an epiphenomenon.

Objectives: To determine the useful exposure range limits of three intraoral image receptors of different technology when exposed to different X-ray beam spectra, dose and dose rate levels. Study Design: A dental X-ray unit offering a wide range of tube potential, tube current and exposure time settings was used to expose a dental quality control phantom. The receptors that were used to capture the radiographic images of the phantom were: the Kodak Insight, the Kodak RVG-6000 and the Duerr Vistascan system. The images that were produced over a wide range of exposure factor settings were evaluated in terms of diagnostic quality by three experienced radiologists. Results: The number of images with acceptable diagnostic quality was in total 1257;310 with Insight, 331 with RVG 6000 and 616 with Vistascan. At 60 kV, diagnosable images were produced with doses ranging from 0.44-1.56 mGy for the Insight film 0.44-2.82 mGy for the RVG 6000 and 0.22-4.93 mGy for the Vistascan system. At 70 kV, the respective ranges were 0.39-1.28 mGy for the Insight film 0.31-2.55 mGy for the RVG6000 and 0.30-3.46 mGy for the Vistascan system. Conclusions: The Vistascan exhibited the widest useful exposure range and required the least exposure to produce a diagnosable image at almost all tube potential settings. The RVG 6000 exhibited a slightly wider useful exposure range than the Insight film, with almost the same dose requirements especially in higher Kv settings.

The aim of the present study was to determine the level of underlying DNA damage in females with PCOS. Twenty-two women with PCOS and twenty-two healthy controls were included in this study. Patients were further categorized into three phenotypic subgroups: Subgroup A, oligo/anovulation (ANOV) and polycystic ovaries (PCO);Subgroup B, hyperandrogenism (HA) as a main characteristic (HA + ANOV or HA + PCO);Subgroup C, all three conditions present (HA + ANOV + PCO). The frequency of sister chromatid exchanges (SCEs) was used as an index of cytogenetic damage. Proliferation rate index (PRI), mitotic index (MI), average generation time (AGT) and population doubling time (PDT) were also evaluated. A significant (p < 0.01) increase in SCE levels along with a significant (p < 0.01) reduction in PRIs and MIs were observed in women with PCOS compared with healthy subjects. Additionally, subgroup C demonstrated statistically significant differences compared with others, while subgroup A had similar results with healthy females. Our results suggest that females with PCOS show increased chromosomal instability in peripheral lymphocytes and a consequent inability of the cells to promote their own mitotic cycle. A positive correlation between DNA damage and PCOS phenotypes is also reported.
