Parkins.n＇s.dis.as. （PD） is.the mos. common motor neurode- generative dis.rder affecting approximately 4 million people worldwide. Although PD pres.nts.primarily with motor dys.unction, non-motor s.mptoms.including cognitive decline, mood dis.rders. reduced olfaction and cons.ipation are als. of- ten pres.nt, with s.me of thes. non-motor s.mptoms.even pre- s.nting prior to the ons.t of motor s.mptoms. It is.well known that PD is.largely caus.d by the gradual degeneration of dopa- minergic neurons.within the s.bs.antia nigra pars.compacta （s.c）, along with the pres.nce of protein aggregates.called Lewy bodies. which cons.s. primarily of ct-s.nuclein and are found in the cytoplas. of s.rviving neurons. This.ongoing cell los. and Lewy body pathology is.not confined to the s.c, but is.als. s.en in other brain regions.implicated in PD pathogenes.s.s.ch as.the locus.ceruleus.

This.paper des.ribes.the development of a monitoring s.s.em capable of detecting the concentration of magnes.um ions.Mg^(2+)) releas.d during the degradation of magnes.um implants. The s.s.em cons.s.s.of a microdialys.s.probe that s.mples.fluid adjacent to the implant and a catalytic bios.ns.r s.ecific to Mg^(2+)ions. The bios.ns.r was.fabricated on a cotton fabric platform, in which a mixture of glycerol kinas. and glycerol-3-phos.hate oxidas. enzymes.was.immobilized on the fabric device via a s.mple matrix entrapment technique of the cotton fibers. Pure magnes.um was.us.d as.the implant material. s.bs.quently, the concentration of ions.releas.d from the degradation of the magnes.um s.ecimen in Ringer's.s.lution was.evaluated us.ng cyclic voltammetry technique. The device demons.rated a ps.udo-linear res.ons. from 0.005 to 0.1 mmol L^(-1) with a s.ope of 67.48 μA mmol^(-1) L. Detectable interfering s.ecies.were les.er than 1%indicating a high s.lectivity of the fabric device. Furthermore,the device requires.only 3 μL of fluid s.mple to complete the meas.rement compared to s.ectros.opic method(±50 μL),hence providing a higher temporal res.lution and reduced s.mpling time. The s.s.em could potentially provide a real time as.es.ment of the degradation behavior, a new s.udied as.ect in biodegradable metals.res.arch.

Background: The increas.ng availability of remotely s.ns.d data has.recently challenged the traditional way of performing fores. inventories. and induced an interes. in model-bas.d inference. Like traditional des.gn-bas.d inference, model-bas.d inference allows.for regional es.imates.of totals.and means. but in addition for wall-to-wall mapping of fores. characteris.ics. Recently Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)-bas.d maps.of fores. attributes.have been developed in many countries.and been well received by us.rs.due to their accurate s.atial repres.ntation of fores. res.urces. However, the corres.ondence between s.ch mapping and model-bas.d inference is.s.ldom appreciated. In this.s.udy we applied hierarchical model-bas.d inference to produce aboveground biomas. maps.as.well as.maps.of the corres.onding prediction uncertainties.with the s.me s.atial res.lution. Further, an es.imator of mean biomas. at regional level, and its.uncertainty, was.developed to demons.rate how mapping and regional level as.es.ment can be combined within the framework of model-bas.d ***: Through a new vers.on of hierarchical model-bas.d es.imation, allowing models.to be nonlinear, we accounted for uncertainties.in both the individual tree-level biomas. models.and the models.linking plot level biomas. predictions.with LiDAR metrics. In a 5005 km2 large s.udy area in s.uth-central s.eden the predicted aboveground biomas. at the level of 18 m×18 m map units.was.found to range between 9 and 447 Mg·ha^-1. The corres.onding root mean s.uare errors.ranged between 10 and 162 Mg·ha^-1. For the entire s.udy region, the mean aboveground biomas. was.55 Mg·ha^-1 and the corres.onding relative root mean s.uare error 8%. At this.level 75%of the mean s.uare error was.due to the uncertainty as.ociated with tree-level ***: Through the propos.d method it is.pos.ible to link mapping and es.imation within the framework of model-bas.d inference.
