In a recent study published in Nature,Chou and colleagues define a new evolutionarily conserved class of tumour-elicited immune response mediated by a distinct population of T cell receptor(TCR)-positive FCER1g-expressing innate-like T cells with high cytotoxic potential(αβILTCKs).1 Targeted immunotherapies and most prominently immune checkpoint blockade(ICB)therapies,brought clinical benefits to tumour patients that were inconceivable 15 years ago.2 These ICBs target inhibitory receptors such as PD-1 on tumour infiltrating CD8+cytotoxic T lymphocytes(CTLs)that can recognise mutated cancer cell antigens and thereby enable tumour cell ***,a significant cohort of cancer patients are non-responsive to ICB treatment and therefore,there is a strong need to discover additional anti-cancer *** work in Nature by Chou and colleagues identifies a population ofαβILTCKs that exhibit reactivity to unmutated tumour antigens.

An increasing number of objects are being launched into low-Earth ***,to avoid the possibility of future in-orbit collisions space object removal techniques are receiving *** one of the most developed techniques,drag augmentation is increasingly being considered as an option for end-of-mission removal of objects from low-Earth *** paper highlights a common misconception around drag augmentation:although it can be used to reduce de-orbit time,when used inappropriately it can increase the volume swept by an object and,thus,increase the occurrence risk of collision with another space *** ignoring this increased risk of collisions could leave spacecraft operators,and consequently their responsible state party,open to liability *** investigating the volume swept and de-orbit lifetime,a strategy of delayed deployment is proposed as a compromise between reducing volume swept and time to ***,this increases system complexity and,likely,cost.

The k-characters are class functions on subsets of g^k called the k-classes of g. For a finite group g, the k-class sums form a basis for a subring of Cg^k, which we call the k-S-ring of g、and we think of these rings as generalized centralizer rings. We show that for a finite group g the 3-S-ring determines g. More specifically, the group characters and set products of certain 3-classes of g, which we call “uniform 3-classes", determine g.

Mapping aboveground biomass and its prediction uncertainty using LiDAR and field data, accounting for tree-level allometric and LiDAR model errors

Background: The increasing availability of remotely sensed data has recently challenged the traditional way of performing forest inventories, and induced an interest in model-based inference. Like traditional design-based inference, model-based inference allows for regional estimates of totals and means, but in addition for wall-to-wall mapping of forest characteristics. Recently Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)-based maps of forest attributes have been developed in many countries and been well received by users due to their accurate spatial representation of forest resources. However, the correspondence between such mapping and model-based inference is seldom appreciated. In this study we applied hierarchical model-based inference to produce aboveground biomass maps as well as maps of the corresponding prediction uncertainties with the same spatial resolution. Further, an estimator of mean biomass at regional level, and its uncertainty, was developed to demonstrate how mapping and regional level assessment can be combined within the framework of model-based ***: Through a new version of hierarchical model-based estimation, allowing models to be nonlinear, we accounted for uncertainties in both the individual tree-level biomass models and the models linking plot level biomass predictions with LiDAR metrics. In a 5005 km2 large study area in south-central Sweden the predicted aboveground biomass at the level of 18 m×18 m map units was found to range between 9 and 447 Mg·ha^-1. The corresponding root mean square errors ranged between 10 and 162 Mg·ha^-1. For the entire study region, the mean aboveground biomass was 55 Mg·ha^-1 and the corresponding relative root mean square error 8%.
