This study introduces a handheld terahertz(THz)scanner designed to quantitatively evaluate human skin hydration levels and *** device,through the incorporation of force sensors,demonstrates enhanced repeatability and accuracy over traditional fixed THz *** scanner was evaluated in the largest THz skin study to date,assessing 314 volunteers,successfully differentiating between individuals with dry skin and hydrated skin using a numerical stratified skin *** scanner measures and displays skin hydration dynamics within a quarter of a second,indicating its potential for real-time,noninvasive examinations,opening up opportunities for in vivo and ex vivo diagnosis during patient ***,the portability and ease of use of our scanner enable its widespread application for in vivo and ex vivo diagnosis during patient consultations,potentially allowing in situ biopsy evaluation and elimination of histopathology processing wait times,thereby improving patient outcomes by facilitating simultaneous tumor diagnosis and removal.

In this paper, an analytical and numerical study of strain fields, stress fields and displacements in a rotating hollow cylinder, whose walls were completely made in Functionally Graded Materials (FGM), was conducted. We have considered the rotating hollow cylinder submitted to an asymmetric radial loading. It is assumed that, because of the functional graduation of the material, the mechanical properties such as young elastic modulus and the density varies in the radial direction, in accordance with a the power law function. The inhomogeneity parameter was selected between -1 and 1. On the basis of the second law of Newton, Hooke’s law and the strain-stress relationship, we established the differential equation which governs the equilibrium for a rotating hollow cylinder. We found the analytical solution and compared to the numerical solution obtained by using the shooting method and the fourth order runge-Kutta algorithm. The analytical and numerical results lead to the conclusion that the magnitude of the tangential stresses is greater than that of the radial stresses. The changes due to the graduation of FGM does not produce consistent variations in the distribution of radial stresses, but strongly affects the distribution of tangential stresses. The tangential stresses, tangential strains and displacements are much higher at the inner surface of the cylinder wall. The internal radial pressure intensely affects the radial stresses and the radial strain.

We employed a metallic wire grating loaded with graphene and operating in total internal reflection (TIr) geometry to realize deep and broadband THz modulation. The non-resonant field enhancement effect of the evanescent wave in TIr geometry and in the subwavelength wire grating was combined to demonstrate a ～77% modulation depth (MD) in the frequency range of 0.2–1.4 THz. This MD, achieved electrically with a SiO_2∕Si gated graphene device, was 4.5 times higher than that of the device without a metal grating in transmission geometry. By optimizing the parameters of the metallic wire grating, the required sheet conductivity of graphene for deep modulation was lowered to 0.87 mS. This work has potential applications in THz communication and real-time THz imaging.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of carrot leaf powder in the diet on reproductive and growth characteristics in rabbits. Thirty sexually matured rabbits does of 8 months old, 3.00 to 3.20 kg, were divided into three groups of 10 rabbits each, which were comparable in terms of body weight. Throughout the experiment, the rabbits of group 1 (control group) were fed ad libitum with a feed not containing carrot leaf powder (control ration), while those of groups 2 and 3 received the control ration supplemented with carrot leaf powder in concentrations of 0.5% and 1% respectively. Data was collected on feed intake, weight gain, receptivity, fertility, gestation length of does, litter size, weight, viability and sex ratio of the young rabbits till 5 weeks post-partum. There was no significant (P > 0.05) difference in the fertility rate, gestation duration and sex ratio of the kits with reference to the control. Litter size at birth was not significantly (P > 0.05) influenced in does fed diets containing carrot leaf powder compared to the control. However, the reversed effects were observed at five weeks post-partum. The live weight of weaned kits and weight gain of rabbit does at birth were significantly (P reased in treated rabbits compared to the control. The supplementation of carrot leaf powder in feed can improve production performance in female rabbits, through their antioxidant activities thanks to their various components, thus fighting against oxidative stress effects to which animals are exposed both from endogenous and environmental sources.

Background: The risk of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection and cervical cancer has increased in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infected women. Several other Genital Infections (GI), have been shown to act as risk factors for the acquisition of HPV infection and for the development of cervical cancer. Methods: In this observational study, we evaluated the prevalence of HPV infection, GI and cervical abnormalities among vertically HIV-infected young women in the early years of sexual activity. HPV viral strains have been classified as high risk and low risk to develop precancerous and cancerous lesions according to the WHO classification. results: Eighteen vertically HIV-infected young women and eleven healthy age matched controls were studied. HIV-infected young women showed a higher incidence of high risk HPV genotype infection compared to healthy control. HIV-infected women affected by HPV presented lower levels of CD4+ percentages. GI and Pap test did not show any relation with HPV infection and effects were similar in both groups. Conclusion: HIV infection and low CD4+ percentages seem to play a key role as risk factors for HPV-infection among HIV-infected young women. Therefore, future efforts will be needed to improve the adherence of HIV-infected young women in HPV pap test screening considering the lower ability of these patients to clear the HPV infection.
