The use of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV)for forest monitoring has grown significantly in recent years,providing information with high spatial resolution and temporal versatility.UAV with multispectral sensors allow the use of indexes such as the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),which determines the vigor,physiological stress and photo synthetic activity of vegetation.This study aimed to analyze the spectral responses and variations of NDVI in tree crowns,as well as their correlation with climatic factors over the course of one year.The study area encompassed a 1.6-ha site in Durango,Mexico,where Pinus cembroides,Pinus engelmannii,and Quercus grisea coexist.Multispectral images were acquired with UAV and information on meteorological variables was obtained from NASA/POWER database.An ANOVA explored possible differences in NDVI among the three species.Pearson correlation was performed to identify the linear relationship between NDVI and meteorological variables.Significant differences in NDVI values were found at the genus level(Pinus and Quercus),possibly related to the physiological features of the species and their phenology.Quercus grisea had the lowest NDVI values throughout the year which may be attributed to its sensitivity to relative humidity and temperatures.Although the use of UAV with a multispectral sensor for NDVI monitoring allowed genera differentiation,in more complex forest analyses hyperspectral and liDAR sensors should be integrated,as well other vegetation indexes be considered.

Mandibular advancement devices(MADs)are one of the treatments used for Obstructive sleep apnea(OSA).MADs try to maintain the mandible in an advanced position to keep the upper airways open when sleeping.To achieve this goal,most current MADs limit the mouth opening to a few millimetres.The study of the kinematic behaviour of the patient’s jaw is essential in order to design devices that allow greater aperture ranges.For this purpose,a 3D multibody model that reproduces jaw movement has been developed in this work.To this end,the movement of the lower incisor has been determined by means of a vision system and reflective markers.In addition,the kinematics of the temporomandibular joint has been modelled.Next,the device is designed and printed using a cam-follower mechanism.This way,the cam profiles and the followers are optimally designed and positioned for each patient depending on the physiognomy of the jaw and the opening and advancing movement prescribed by the specialist.

1|TEXT I present a case of lingual Raynaud's phenomenon(RP)in a 37-year-old Caucasian woman followed for mixed connective tissue disease(MCTD).During scheduled follow-up,she shared a selfie photograph demonstrating RP of the tongue with deep blue/violet discoloration.She was asymptomatic and had not recently eaten or drunk any cold or frozen food or liquid.Her tongue returned to normal coloration after about 2 min.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the reproductive performance of a new artificial insemination(AI) device specifically designed for gilts(Deep cervical AI, Dp-CAI) by means of which the sperm is deposited deeply in the cervix(8 cm more cranial than in traditional cervical insemination-CAI). New AI techniques have arisen in recent decades in the porcine industry, such as post-cervical artificial insemination(PCAI), which involves depositing the sperm in the body of the uterus [through a catheter(outer tube)-cannula(inner tube)] rather than by CAI. Although the PCAI method has been successfully applied in farm conditions to reduce sperm doses without impairing the reproductive performance, this technique has limitations in gilts mainly because of the difficulty involved in introducing the inner cannula through the cranial part of the cervix. For this reason, the Dp-CAI method described herein may be considered as an alternative to CAI and PCAI methods in gilts.Results: Gilts were divided in two experimental groups: 1) Dp-CAI: gilts(n = 1166) inseminated using 1.5 × 109 sperm/45 m l;2) CAI(as a control group): gilts(n = 130) inseminated using 2.5 × 10~9 sperm/85 ml. The Dp-CAI method was successfully applied in 88.90% of the gilts, with no differences detected between gilts with 1 or 2 previous oestrus cycles, although the catheter could be introduced more deeply in 2 oestrus gilts(P length of the insemination device that could not be introduced increased(at the moment of insemination), so the success rate of the Dp-CAI device fell, as did the total number of piglets born. When the reproductive output in CAI and Dp-CAI was compared, none of the parameters analysed [pregnancy and farrowing rates(%), and number of piglets born(total and live)] showed significant differences.Conclusions: The use of the Dp-CAI technique provides a new AI method as an alternative to CAI and PCAI for pigs. In animal communication systems,individuals that detect a cue(i.e.,“receivers”)are often influenced by characteristics of the cue emitter.For instance,in many species,receivers avoid chemical cues that are released by emitters experiencing disturbance.These chemical“disturbance cues”appear to benefit receivers by warning them about nearby danger,such as a predator’s approach.While the active ingredients in disturbance cues have been largely unexplored,by-products of metabolized protein are thought to play a role for some species.If so,the content(quality)and volume(quantity)of the emitter’s diet should affect their disturbance cues,thus altering how receivers perceive the cues and respond.Guppies Poecilia reticulata are a species known to discriminate among disturbance cues from different types of donors,but dietary variation has yet to be explored.In this study,we found evidence that diet quality and quantity can affect disturbance cues released by guppy emitters(i.e.,experimental“donors”).Receivers discriminated between donor cue treatments,responding more strongly to cues from donors fed a protein-rich bloodworm diet(Experiment 1),as well as an overall larger diet(Experiment 2).We also found that receivers exposed to higher background risk were more sensitive to disturbance cue variation,with the strongest avoidance responses displayed by high-risk receivers toward disturbance cues from donors fed the high-quality diet.Therefore,diet,and perhaps protein specifically,affects either the concentration or composition of disturbance cues released by guppies.Such variation may be important in information signaling in social species like the guppy.

Service members are at risk for sleep and psychological conditions affecting their readiness. Chronotype(“morningness”or “eveningness”) is strongly associated with sleep, health and performance. The objective of this study was to examine associations between validated measures of chronotype and sleep quality, daytime functioning, alertness,and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) in US service members(n=298).Although predominantly young males(who skew toward eveningness in civilian populations), these Sailors skewed toward morningness(35.6% morning, 51.3% intermediate). Eveningness was associated with symptoms of depression and PTSD(Pless time in bed(Pleep disruption(Plertness(Pless likely to consider sleep important for performance(Ples should be aligned with endogenous rhythms, whenever possible, and evening chronotypes may benefit from targeted interventions. Chronotype should be examined alongside health and readiness in service members.

Objective:To demonstrate that serum follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)in men rises with age,and to explore FSH reference intervals of age-related partitioning.Methods:Men aged 20-50 years(n=1190)underwent semen analysis according to World Health Organization(2010)methods.Serum was frozen prior to measurement of FSH by using the Siemens ADVIA Centaur®XP immunoassay system.FSH central 95%intervals after logarithmic transformation based on age were derived from 1037 normozoospermic men.These were then applied to oligozoospermic and azoospermic men.Men producing azoospermic semen samples were further classified as having non-obstructive azoospermia by clinical diagnostic criteria,including genetic analysis and surgical exploration.Results:Serum FSH in normozoospermic men increased with age(Pls were determined with 10-year brackets:21-30 years[(1.0-8.2)IU/l],31-40 years[(1.4-9.5)IU/l],41-50 years[(1.9-12.0)IU/l].The proportion of oligozoospermic men with normal FSH concentrations was less than the normozoospermic men,which in turn was lower among azoospermic men(both Plevated serum FSH concentrations whereas only 6.7%(1/15)men with obstructive azoospermia had high FSH levels,and this was significantly different(Plusions:FSH concentrations increase in men between 20-50 years,and clinical interpretation of serum FSH results in men must be made by using age-based reference intervals.

ZnTe, CdTe, and the ternary alloy CdZnTe are important semiconductor materials used widely for the detection of an important range of electromagnetic radiation as gamma ray and X-ray. Although, recently these materials have acquired renewed importance due to the new explored nanolayer properties of modern devices. In addition, as shown in this work they can be grown using uncomplicated synthesis techniques based on the deposition in vapour phase of the elemental precursors. This work presents the results obtained from the deposition of nanolayers of these materials using the precursor vapour on GaAs and GaSb (001) substrates. This growth technique, extensively known as atomic layer deposition (AlD), allows the layers growth with nanometric dimension. The main results presented in this work are the used growth parameters and the results of the structural characterization of the layers by the means of Raman spectroscopy measurements. Raman scattering shows the peak corresponding to longitudinal optical (lO)-ZnTe, which is weak and slightly redshift in comparison with that reported for the ZnTe bulk at 210 cm^-1. For the case of the CdTe nanolayer, Raman spectra presented the lO-CdTe peak, which is indicative of the successful growth of the layer. Its weak and slightly redshift in comparison with that reported for the CdTe bulk can be related with the nanometric characteristic of this layer. The performed high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HR-XRD) measurement allows to study some important characteristics such as the crystallinity of the grown layer. In addition, the HR-XRD measurement suggests that the crystalline quality has dependence on the growth temperature.

Blends of gelatin(Ge)plasticized with varying amounts of glycerol(Gly),buffer solution pH 10 and epoxidized soybean oil(ESO)to enhance hydrophobicity were prepared by mixing and injection-molding.Blends were characterized by rheological tests and microscopy to select optimal conditions for scaling up their processing.The effect of each component on rheological response was analyzed using parallel plate geometry.Coating of gelatin specimens with PDMS during rheological tests led to reliable and reproducible results since water evaporation was prevented.A gradual increment in ESO concentration led to blends with increased degree of phase separation,as evidenced by optical and confocal microscopy.limited compatibility between ESO and Ge increased viscosity at high ESO levels,but up to 10%Gly could be replaced with ESO without a significant variation of rheological behavior.
