Tuning the intermediate reaction barriers by a CuPd catalyst to improve the selectivity of CO_(2) electroreduction to C_(2) products

Electrochemical CO2 reduction is a promising strategy for the utilization of CO2 and intermittent excess *** is the only single metal catalyst that can electrochemically convert CO2 into multicarbon ***,Cu exhibits an unfavorable activity and selectivity for the generation of C2 products because of the insufficient amount of CO*provided for the C‐C *** on the strong CO2 adsorption and ultrafast reaction kinetics of CO*formation on Pd,an intimate CuPd(100)interface was designed to lower the intermediate reaction barriers and improve the efficiency of C2 product *** functional theory(DFT)calculations showed that the CuPd(100)interface enhanced the CO2 adsorption and decreased the CO2*hydrogenation energy barrier,which was beneficial for the C‐C *** potential‐determining step(PDs)barrier of CO2 to C2 products on the CuPd(100)interface was 0.61 eV,which was lower than that on Cu(100)(0.72 eV).Encouraged by the DFT calculation results,the CuPd(100)interface catalyst was prepared by a facile chemical solution method and characterized by transmission electron ***2 temperature‐programmed desorption and gas sensor experiments further confirmed the enhancement of the CO2 adsorption and CO2*hydrogenation ability of the CuPd(100)interface ***,the obtained CuPd(100)interface catalyst exhibited a C2 Faradaic efficiency of 50.3%±1.2%at‒1.4 VRHE in 0.1 M KHCO3,which was 2.1 times higher than that of the Cu catalyst(23.6%±1.5%).This study provides the basis for the rational design of Cu‐based electrocatalysts for the generation of multicarbon products by fine‐tuning the intermediate reaction barriers.

Data-driven disturbance observer-based control: an active disturbance rejection approach

Temporal decay of the catalytic oxidation of methane over palladium supported on silica

The temporal decay of the oxidation of methane(CH4-O2reaction)over palladium supported on silica is determined experimentally at different temperatures,comparing the results with those of various classical models which show the behavior of the adsorbed phase as the cause of the *** effect is visualized through Monte Carlo simulations of the CH4-O2reaction on a mixed lattice whose partial poisoning,due to the configuration of the OH groups on the surface of the adsorbate,is translated into a gradual decay of the reaction’s activity.

Robust Disturbance Rejection Based Control with Extended-state Resonant Observer for sway Reduction in Uncertain Tower-cranes

In this paper, the problem of load transportation and robust mitigation of payload oscillations in uncertain tower-cranes is addressed. This problem is tackled through a control scheme based on the philosophy of active-disturbance-rejection. Here, a general disturbance model built with two dominant components: polynomial and harmonic, is stated. Then, a disturbance observer is formulated through state-vector augmentation of the tower-crane model. Thus, better performance of estimations for system states and disturbances is achieved. The control law is then formulated to actively reject the disturbances but also to accommodate the closed-loop system dynamics even under system uncertainty. The proposed control schema is validated via experimentation using a small-scale tower-crane,and compared with other relevant active disturbance rejection control(ADRC)-based techniques. The experimental results show that the proposed control scheme is robust under parametric uncertainty of the system, and provides improved attenuation of payload oscillations even under system uncertainty.

Dimensionality reduction of hyperspectral images of vegetation and crops based on self-organized maps

Hyperspectral images are multidimensional massive sets of information that have shown a great potential for different kind of applications as urban mapping,environmental management,vegetation and crops supervision and mineral ***,due to its high dimensional nature and the high variability of the spectral information,the dimensionality reduction process is one of the main challenges in processing hyperspectral *** aim of dimensionality reduction is to eliminate redundant information and simplify the subsequent processes of classification and the search of *** this context,several dimensionality reduction methods have been proposed,but most of them are not flexible enough to deal with the particular features of the hyperspectral *** this way,the use of intelligent methods as neural networks and specially an unsupervised approach as self-organized maps,may improve the dimensionality reduction stage and the final classification *** paper proposes an unsupervised method for the dimensionality reduction of hyperspectral images based on Kohonen self-organized maps,which,compared with other traditional methods such as principal component analysis(PCA)and wavelet decomposition,provides better classification *** results provided in this paper use an RBF(radial basis function)*** average,the proposed method provides a 64%dimensionality reduction and an 88.5%classification *** results suggest that the dimensionality reduction algorithm based on self-organized maps is an efficient approach compared with other popular *** is due to the ability of self-organized maps to automatically detect(self-organizing)relationships within the set of input patterns,which provides flexibility to deal with the special features of the hyperspectral images.

Methane Dry Reforming over Alumina supported Co Catalysts

A series of Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalysts were prepared with the impregnation method and characterized by means of the BET specific surface area, X-ray diffraction(XRD), thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) and Laser Raman spectroscopy. The Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalysts were activated by using H_2, 20%CH_4/H_2 or CH_4, respectively. There was no obvious difference between the activities of the Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalyst activated by using the different activation methods for methane dry reforming. The catalytic properties of the Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalysts with different Co loadings were also investigated. The optimized Co loading for the Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalyst pretreated with 20% CH_4/H_2 is around 12%(mass fraction).

In this editorial,we discuss an article by Wang et al,focusing on the role of mitochondria in peripheral insulin resistance and insulin *** numerous in vitro and pre-clinical studies supporting the involvement of mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of diabetes and its complications,efforts to target mitochondria for glycemic control in diabetes using mitochondria-targeted antioxidants have produced inconsistent *** intricate functionality of mitochondria is summarized to underscore the challenges it poses as a therapeutic *** mitochondria-targeted antioxidants have demonstrated improvement in mitochondrial function and oxidative stress in pre-clinical diabetes models,the results regarding glycemic control have been mixed,and no studies have evaluated their hypoglycemic effects in diabetic ***,pre-clinical trials have shown promising outcomes in ameliorating diabetes-related ***,we review some reasons why mitochondria-targeted antioxidants may not function effectively in the context of mitochondrial *** also highlight several alternative approaches under development that may enhance the targeting of mitochondria for diabetes treatment.
