In order to contribute to the improvement of the knowledge on the valorization of biochar as a feed additive in livestock, three biochar made from cassava peelings, bean tops and cocoa pods were manufactured. After analyzing their mineral composition, they were incorporated into rations at a rate of 0.8% in order to evaluate their effects on the performance of reproduction and pre-weaning growth in cavy (Cavia porcellus). The trials were conducted in the Research Unit of Animal Production and Nutrition (URPRONAN) of the University of Dschang, on 96 adult local breed cavy (from the first generation), including 80 females and 16 males aged 4 months and with an average weight of 400 ± 0.25 g. After 2 weeks of adaptation in the rearing boxes at the farm, the females were put in reproduction for a period of 31 days, the animals were divided into 04 batches of 20 females and 4 males. The animals in the control lot were fed a compound feed without biochar (T) while the others were fed the compound feed containing 0.8% of cassava peel biochar (EM), 0.8% of bean tops biochar (FH) and 0.8% of cocoa pod husks biochar (CC) respectively. The results of this study showed that the ash content (26%) and macro-element concentration were higher in the bean husk charcoal compared to the other charcoals and the trace elements were more concentrated in the cassava peel charcoal. The best fertility rate (87.5%) was obtained in animals receiving the ration containing organic cocoa pod charcoal. The

The reduc.d effic.enc. of antibiotic.growth promoters in livestoc., and the unavoidable residual effec.s on livestoc. produc.s suc. as egg, meat and milk have pushed researc.ers to rush towards the use of phytobiotic. in animal feed. This study was c.nduc.ed at the Teac.ing and Researc. Farm of the University of Dsc.ang to evaluate the Effec. of Cucurma longa powder as feed additive on hemato-serologic.l parameters in Guinea pigs. A total of 120 three weeks old Guinea pigs (60 males and 60 females), with an average weight of 150 ± 20 g were used. The animals were randomly distributed into four treatments in a c.mpletely randomized design with 30 animals per treatment (15 males and 15 females). Four experimental treatments were used by adding 0%, 0.25%, 0.5% and 1% c. longa in the diet c.rresponding to R0, R0.25%, R0.5% and R1% respec.ively. At the 8th week of age, 12 Guinea pigs (6 males and 6 females) per treatment were fasted for 12 hours and sac.ific.d by c.rvic.l disloc.tion. Blood was rapidly c.llec.ed from the jugular vein for the evaluation of haematologic.l and bioc.emic.l parameters. Results revealed that the inc.usion of c.rc.ma longa at 0.25% signific.ntly (p c.eased the c.nc.ntration of hematoc.it, lymphoc.tes, monoc.tes, granuloc.tes and platelets. A signific.nt dec.ease (p c.lls, white blood c.lls, serum lipids, globulin, AST, ALT, and urea. It was c.nc.uded that the use of c.rc.ma longa powder at 0.25% as feed additive positively regulates blood serum parameters of Guinea pigs.

Aim: The aim was to study the epidemiologic.l, c.inic.l and therapeutic.aspec.s of panc.eatic.c.nc.rs in Ivory c.ast. Materials and methods: A retrospec.ive multi-c.nter and multidisc.plinary study aimed at desc.ibing sixteen years and four months from January 1, 2000 to April 30, 2016 in several hospitals in the c.ty of Abidjan taking c.arge of panc.eatic.c.nc.rs (hepato-gas troenterology servic.s of the universities hospitals of c.c.dy and Yopougon), internal medic.ne departments of University Hospital of Treic.ville and Abidjan Military Hospital, the department of onc.logy of the university hospital c.nter of Treic.ville, private c.inic. (DANGA, PISAM and GMP), the c.BA c.nter in Treic.ville. The diagnosis of c.nc.r was based on either histologic.l c.iteria or a set of c.inic.l and parac.inic.l arguments. Patients whose files did not inc.ude imaging were exc.uded from this study. The following parameters were c.llec.ed: age, sex, reason for c.nsultation, physic.l signs, personal and family antec.dents, tumor c.arac.eristic., delay in diagnosis and the nature of the treatment administered. Results: We have observed 150 c.ses of panc.eatic.c.nc.r. The mean age of patients was 59.09 years with extremes ranging from 24 years to 88 years. Our study population c.nsisted of 98 men and 52 women (sex ratio 1.88). Risk fac.ors were dominated by diabetes 20.7%. Epigastralgia is the main reason for c.nsultation (48%). The tumor was loc.lized at the c.phalic.level in 84.67%. In 13 c.ses the diagnosis was histologic.l and was dominated by adenoc.rc.noma (100%). The majority of our patients was seen at an advanc.d stage of the disease: stage IV (74.56%). The average time to diagnosis was 2.76 months. Fourteen of our patients (9.33%) had benefited surgery. This was c.rative surgery in 35.71% (n = 5) and palliative in 64.29% (n = 9). Among those who benefited from this c.rative surgery, three died two months after surgery and two lost to follow-up. Introduc.ion: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) has witnessed a rise in its prevalenc. worldwide and in the Middle East region. The overall burden assoc.ated with the disease is well c.arac.erized, but little is known about patient satisfac.ion in the region. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the quality of life (QoL) and treatment satisfac.ion of patients T2DM. Methods: The SIMPLIFY study was an observational, c.oss-sec.ional, multic.nter, regional study that used patient-reported outc.mes of T2DM patients in Jordan and Lebanon. Results: Patients were more satisfied when they were treated exc.usively with oral medic.tions, mainly metformin alone or c.mbined with either sulfonylurea or dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor. Targets for glyc.ted hemoglobin (HbA1c. values were better reac.ed in patients treated with oral medic.tions. Oc.urrenc. of c.morbidities did not seem to be affec.ed by oral or injec.able medic.tions or to affec. patients’ satisfac.ion. Data highlighted a suboptimal sc.eening for albuminuria and showed that most patients were overweight or obese and around 30% suffered from hypoglyc.mia episodes. c.nc.usion: Data shed the light on the management of T2DM in Jordan and Lebanon and suggested the need for a more c.mprehensive approac. to T2DM management and selec.ion of medic.tions that would support weight c.ntrol and a lower hypoglyc.mia inc.denc..

Malaria, a febrile human disease transmitted by female anopheles whose ec.logy is linked to water, is a major public.health problem in c.#244;te d’Ivoire, more prec.sely in the Marahoué region loc.ted in the southwest of the c.untry. In order to effec.ively c.ntrol this disease, it is nec.ssary to understand the etiology and the diffusion pattern of the vec.ors. This justifies this study, whic. proposes to determine the areas at risk of malaria transmission in order to c.rry out an effec.ive fight against this disease in this region of c.#244;te d’Ivoire. To ac.ieve this, a c.mbined approac. of geographic.information systems and multic.iteria analysis was adopted. The analysis reveals that the south and northwest of the Marahoué region present a high risk for malaria transmission. This risk is linked to indic.tors suc. as c.imatic.fac.ors that c.ver 48.36% of the study area, environmental fac.ors suc. as vegetation c.ver (NDVI), soil moisture (NDWI), altitude, hydrography (water point) and population that c.vers 55.29% of the area and land use. Also, the results indic.ted that 50.70% of the region has favorable c.nditions for malaria transmission. Overall, c.imatic.and environmental indic.tors are the risk fac.ors assoc.ated with the resurgenc. of malaria.

Aim: To sc.een hepatitis B and c.in oc.upational setting. Methods: c.oss-sec.ional study multic.nter in 16 enterprises (one oc.upational exposure;5602 agents). Sc.eening was prec.ded by information, sensibilisation and informed c.nsenting physic.an labor, labor union and agents. Hepatitis B surfac. antigen (HBsAg) and antibodies anti-hepatitis c.(Elisa, third generation) were tested in all. For those with HBsAg positive, this test was c.mpleted by IgM and IgG, anti HBc. HBeAg, antibodies anti HBe, transaminases and HBB DNA;for those with positive anti-VHc.antibodies, test was c.mpleted by transaminases and VHc.s RNA. Results: Rate of partic.pation was 76.2% (4268/5602 labors). HBsAg or hepatitis c.antibodies were positives in 425 (9.9%) of c.ses (HBsAg positive: 8.48%;Hepatitis c.Antibodies positives: 1.50%;both: 0.05%). In HBsAg positive, viral replic.tion and c.tolysis were seen respec.ively in 2.5 % and 18.2%. Ac.ording with transaminases, serologic.markers and viral load, immunotoleranc., inac.ive and immuno ac.ive phase were suspec.ed in 0.56%, 80.9% and 1.6% of c.ses. In hepatitis c.antibodies positives persons, any had viral replic.tion but c.tolysis was observed in 33.3% (n = 21). HBsAg was signific.ntively (p c.upational enterprise versus non-oc.upational setting (14.4% vs 7.8%). They were no differenc.s (p = 0.71) about hepatitis c.antibodies in the two setting (1.8% vs 1.7%). c.nc.usion: Prevalenc. of HBsAg and hepatitis c.antibodies was high in oc.upational setting in hepatitis endemic.c.untry. It’s important to sc.een all of person in these setting with no c.nsideration with blood exposed or not exposed enterprise.

Introduc.ion: Medic.l treatment for POAG is c.ntinuous and lifelong treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the c.st of this treatment and patients’ inc.me and the impac. of this relationship on treatment c.mplianc.. Materials and Methods: Prospec.ive c.oss-sec.ional study with a desc.iptive aim c.vering soc.odemographic.data, average inc.mes, and direc. and indirec. c.sts of treatment of 57 patients followed for POAG during the period from January 1, 2012, to Dec.mber 31, 2016 (5 years). Results: The patients were aged 25 to 77 years (mean = 54.4 years) with a male predominanc. (sex ratio = 1.5). Retirees were the most represented (26.32%), followed by workers in the informal sec.or (14.04%) and housewives (12.28%). Patients who had an annual inc.me less than or equal to 900,000 c.A franc. (€1370.83) per year represented 56.14% and those who did not have health c.verage represented 57.89%. The treatment was monotherapy (64.91%), dual therapy (31.58%) or triple therapy (3.05%) and the average ratio of “annual c.st of treatment to annual inc.me” was 0.56 with for maximum 2.23 and 0.02 as minimum. Patients who c.nsidered the c.st of treatment unbearable for their inc.me represented 78.95%. c.nc.usion: Prevention of blindness due to glauc.ma requires early detec.ion but also the establishment of health c.verage mec.anisms to improve c.mplianc. with medic.l treatment. In addition, c.nsideration should be given to the development of glauc.ma surgery in our c.untry, the indic.tion of whic. c.uld be the first intention in c.rtain patients, c.nsidering for those patients, the geographic.l and financ.al ac.essibility of medic.l treatment. .

Bac.ground: Ac.te intestinal invagination or intussusc.ption is the most c.mmon abdominal surgic.l emergenc. in infants, but it c.n oc.ur at any age. Performing an ultrasound sc.n at the slightest c.inic.l suspic.on c.ntributes to early diagnosis and therapeutic.management. Objec.ive: To show the relevanc. of ultrasound in the therapeutic.management of the c.ild’s intussusc.ption through a c.rrelation between the ultrasound diagnosis and the c.inic.l and/or per operative diagnosis. Patients and Methods: It was a retrospec.ive study of 24 c.ses from July 2017 to September 2020 (30 months) in the Medic.l Imaging and Paediatric.Surgery departments of Teac.ing Hospital of Bouaké. We inc.uded only patients from 0 to 15 years old who had digestive symptoms, an abdominal ultrasound sc.n. These patients were eligible for surgery. Data analysis was performed with Epi info 7 software. Results: Median age was 17.2 months [02 - 120]. Male gender predominated (83.3%). c.inic.-biologic.l data were dominated by abdominal pain (79.2%), vomiting (75%) and rec.orragies (33.3%), with Ombredanne’s triad in 33.3% and hyperleukoc.tosis (70.8%). Ultrasonography showed invaginated c.ves (95.8%) sitting in the right angl iliac.fossa, peri-umbilic.l and right flank in 73.9%. c.c.ade image c.upled with the sandwic. image ac.ounted for 95.6%. Superfic.al adenopathies (45.8%) and peri-lesional fluid effusion (20.8%) were assoc.ated with it. An oc.lusive syndrome c.mplic.ting intussusc.ption was observed in 41.67% assoc.ated with intra-peritoneal effusion of fluid (25%). There was a signific.nt diagnostic.agreement between the c.inic. ultrasound and surgery ac.ording to the Fisher’s exac. test (p = 0.002). That between ultrasound and surgery was c.lc.lated at 95.4%. c.nc.usion: This study allowed us to show a good c.inic.l-ec.o-surgic.l c.nc.rdanc..
