Orotidine 5＇-monophosphate decarboxylase （ODCase） is known as one of the most proficient enzymes. the enzyme catalyzes the last reaction step of the de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis, the conversion from orotidine 5＇-monophosphate （OMP） to uridine 5＇-mono- phosphate. the enzyme is found in all three domains of life, Bacteria, Eukarya and Archaea. Multiple sequence alignment of 750 putative ODCase sequences resulted in five distinct groups. While the universally conserved DxKxxDx motif is present in all the groups, depending on the groups, several characteristic motifs and residues can be identified. Over 200 crystal structures of ODCases have been determined so far. the structures, together with biochemical assays and computational studies, elucidated that ODCase utilized both transition state stabilization and substrate distortion to accelerate the decarboxylation of its natural substrate. stabilization of the vinyl anion intermediate by a conserved lysine residue at the catalytic site is considered the largest contributing factor to catalysis, while bending of the carboxyl group from the plane of the aromatic pyrimidine ring of OMP accounts for substrate distortion. A number of crystal structures of ODCases complexed with potential drug candidate molecules have also been determined, including with 6-iodo- uridine, a potential antimalarial agent.

this work presents the refractory black carbon(rBC)results of a snow and firn core drilled in West Antarctica(79°55'34.6"s,94°21'13.3"W)during the 2014?15 austral summer,collected by Brazilian researchers as part of the First Brazilian West Antarctic Ice sheet *** core was drilled to a depth of 20 m,and we present the results of the first 8 m by comparing two subsampling methods—solid-state cutting and continuous melting—both with discrete *** core was analyzed at the Department of Geological sciences,Central Washington University(CWU),WA,UsA,using a single particle soot photometer(sP2)coupled to a CEtAC Marin-5 *** continuous melting system was recently assembled at CWU and these are its first *** also present experimental results regarding sP2 reproducibility,indicating that sample concentration has a greater influence than the analysis time on the reproducibility for low rBC concentrations,like those found in the Antarctic *** was carried out using mainly the rBC variation and sulfur,sodium and strontium as secondary parameters,giving the core 17 years(1998?2014).the data show a well-defined seasonality of rBC concentrations for these first meters,with geometric mean summer/fall concentrations of 0.016μg L^?1 and geometric mean winter/spring concentrations of 0.063μg L^?*** annual rBC concentration geometric mean was 0.029μg L^?1(the lowest of all rBC cores in Antarctica referenced in this work),while the annual rBC flux was 6.1μg m^?2 yr^?1(the lowest flux in West Antarctica records so far).

Many molecular events are associated with small or large conformational changes occurring in the corresponding *** such changes is a challenge and requires significant amount of computing *** point of view of electrostatics,these changes can be viewed as a reorganization of local charges and dipoles in response to the changes of the electrostatic field,if the cause is insertion or deletion of a charged amino *** we report a large scale investigation of modeling the changes of the folding energy due to single mutations involving charged *** allows the changes of the folding energy to be considered mostly electrostatics in origin and to be calculated with DelPhi assigning residue-specific value of the internal dielectric constant of *** predicted energy changes are benchmarked against experimentally measured changes of the folding energy on a set of 257 single *** best fit between experimental values and predicted changes is used to find out the effective value of the internal dielectric constant for each type of amino *** predicted folding free energy changes with the optimal,amino acid specific,dielectric constants are within rMsD=0.86 kcal/mol from experimentally measured changes.

We present a case of a 25-year-old female with diagnosed familial adenomatous polyposis and elevated carcinoembryonic antigen with negative family history. the suspicion of Gardner's syndrome was raised because extirpation of an osteoma of the left temporo-occipital region was made 10 years ago. restorative procto-colectomy and ileal pouch anal anastomosis was made but histology delineated adenocarcinoma of the rectum (Dukes C stage). We conclude that cranial osteomas often precede gastrointestinal manifestations of familial adenomatous polyposis or Gardner's syndrome and such patients should be evaluated with genetic testing followed by colonoscopy if results are positive to prevent the development of colorectal carcinoma. If the diagnosis is positive all family members should be evaluated for familial adenomatous polyposis.

Purpose: this descriptive study aimed to identify and compare patient with myocardial infarction,their family member,and cardiac nurse perceptions on the learning needs of patients with myocardial infarction in the acute,sub-acute,and post-acute ***: A total of 288 patients with myocardial infarction,145 family members,and 40 cardiac unit nurses were enrolled in this *** were collected by survey method using the Cardiac Patient Learning Need Inventory (CPLNI).Data analysis was done using descriptive statistical analysis and analysis of ***: the results showed that the learning needs of patients with myocardial infarction were high according to the perceptions of patients,patients' family members,and *** were differences in the priority of learning that the patient need in relation to the disease and healing ***: Patients,family members,and nurses have different perceptions regarding the learning needs of patients with myocardial *** create adequate intervention to meet patient's learning needs,there should be an accurate *** results of this study support the importance of patient-centered,individualized education and attention to learning priorities.
