A recent paper by Huo et al.[1]reported a correlation between the entropy of mixing,ΔSmix(and the corresponding energy state)and the thermal stability and mechanical parameters,for three Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni-Be metallic glasses(MGs)including a high-entropy metallic glass(HEMG).Namely,monotonic increases in the thermal stability and strength withΔSmixwere observed.

Orotidine 5＇-monophosphate decarboxylase （ODCase） is known as one of the most proficient enzymes. The enzyme catalyzes the last reaction step of the de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis, the conversion from orotidine 5＇-monophosphate （OMP） to uridine 5＇-mono- phosphate. The enzyme is found in all three domains of life, Bacteria, Eukarya and Archaea. Multiple sequence alignment of 750 putative ODCase sequences resulted in five distinct groups. While the universally conserved DxKxxDx motif is present in all the groups, depending on the groups, several characteristic motifs and residues can be identified. Over 200 crystal structures of ODCases have been determined so far. The structures, together with biochemical assays and computational studies, elucidated that ODCase utilized both transition state stabilization and substrate distortion to accelerate the decarboxylation of its natural substrate. Stabilization of the vinyl anion intermediate by a conserved lysine residue at the catalytic site is considered the largest contributing factor to catalysis, while bending of the carboxyl group from the plane of the aromatic pyrimidine ring of OMP accounts for substrate distortion. A number of crystal structures of ODCases complexed with potential drug candidate molecules have also been determined, including with 6-iodo- uridine, a potential antimalarial agent.

The definition of a molecular surface which is physically sound and computationally efficient is a very interesting and long standing problem in the implicit solvent continuum modeling of biomolecular systems as well as in the molecular graphics *** this work,two molecular surfaces are evaluated with respect to their suitability for electrostatic computation as alternatives to the widely used Connolly-Richards surface:the blobby surface,an implicit Gaussian atom centered surface,and the skin *** figures of merit,we considered surface differentiability and surface area continuity with respect to atom positions,and the agreement with explicit solvent *** analysis seems to privilege the skin to the blobby surface,and points to an unexpected relationship between the non connectedness of the surface,caused by interstices in the solute volume,and the surface area dependence on atomic *** order to assess the ability to reproduce explicit solvent results,specific software tools have been developed to enable the use of the skin surface in PoissonBoltzmann calculations with the DelPhi *** results indicate that the skin and Connolly surfaces have a comparable performance from this last point of view.

Liposarcoma is one of the most common soft tissue sarcomas,representing 50%of all retroperitoneal sarcomas.A large retroper-itoneal sarcoma can exert mass effect on intraab-dominal organs and the thoracic cavity producing symptoms similar to those seen in acute decompe-nsated heart failure(HF),such as abdominal swell-ing,dyspnea on exertion,and ***,the presentation with new-onset HF masking a mas-sive retroperitoneal liposarcoma is exceedingly ***,we present an interesting case of an elderly patient with new-onset decompensated HF in the setting of multi-vessel coronary artery disease who responded well to intravenous diuretic therapy with-out complete symptom *** workup showed a massive retroperitoneal sarcoma as the con-tributing *** his poor cardiac function,he was not initially a surgical ***,after being placed on appropriate goal-directed med-ical therapy,he experienced recovery in his ejection fraction(EF)and is now a surgical candidate.

Objective: To describe the outbreak of 2004 with a view of retrospectively identifying factors that might explain the low case fatality rate. Methods: Outbreak data from 4 915 Cholera patients from registers of the Regional Health Delegation in Douala were analyzed using SPSS. Chi-square test, univariate and multivariate analysis were applied. Results: The outbreak started January 2004, peaking at 187 cases per week in February. After a decrease in April, case numbers rose to 688 cases per week in June. The outbreak was over in September 2004( <10 cases per week). The case fatality rate was higher in treatment centers with fewer than one nurse per two patients, than in those with more nursing staff. A temporary staff reduction after the first wave of the epidemic was associated with the increase of the case fatality rate during the second wave. This increase was reversed after re-instating full staff ***: Providing sufficient nursing staff helps to lower the case fatality rate of cholera. Besides a lack of staff, age above 40 years is a risk factor for death in this disease.

The paper presents some examples revealing the uncertainty and absolute certainty principles in kinetics of objects formation that are different in their physical nature and in space scales: sub-stances of microcosm, nanoparticles and mesostructures, astrophysical and cosmological objects. Under the proposed kinetic approach, the uncertainty principle covers a wider spectrum of processes of approaching to equilibrium and object formation, than the absolute certainty principle. It refers, in particular, to nano-range-of-problems and mesoscopics as well as to cosmology. Both principles predict formation of objects that are not well-known or, at least, well-described so far. Among these are neutron-rich super-heavy and giant nuclei, biologic and organic-silicon mesoobjects, cosmological objects with the sizes considerably exceeding the size of a light sphere.

Acute decompensated heart failure(HF)is the most common cause of hospital ad-mission in patients older than 65 *** length of hospital stay is about 5-6 days and with a frequent number of hospital readmission rates of 25%to 50%at 30 days and 6-12 months,respect-ively.[1]Treatment options are vast and depend on certain patient characteristics,including hemody-namics,which drive the acute management.A pop-ular modality to assess hemodynamics in acute HF is the right heart catheterization(RHC).While in-vasive,the use of RHC gives providers the oppor-tunity to evaluate values that directly contribute to the management of the *** numbers can calculate the cardiac output as well as help establish the underlying etiology of the patient’s symptoms and guide therapy.

This paper establishes asymptotic time dependences of characteristic sizes of astrophysical and cosmological objects. These dependences are obtained on the basis of uncertainty principle applied in cosmic scales in approximation of spherical symmetry in Euclidean geometry. The proposed analytical approach makes it possible to determine spatial boundaries of the uniformity of matter distribution in the Universe, and a size of cosmic sphere which contains numerous groups of interacting universes.

An asymptotic method has been developed for investigation of kinetics of formation of compact objects with strong internal bonds. The method is based on the uncertainty relation for a coordinate and a momentum in space of sizes of objects (clusters) with strongly pronounced collective quantum properties resulted from exchange interactions of various physical nature determined by spatial scales of the processes under consideration. The proposed phenomenological approach has been developed by analogy with the all-known ideas about coherent states of quantum mechanical oscillator systems for which a product of coordinate and momentum uncertainties (dispersions) accepts the value, which is minimally possible within uncertainty relations. With such an approach the leading processes are oscillations of components that make up objects, mainly: collective nucleon oscillations in a nucleus and phonon excitations in a mesostructure crystal lattice. This allows us to consider formation and growth of subatomic and mesoscopic objects in the context of a single formalism. The proposed models adequately describe characteristics of formation processes of nuclear matter clusters as well as mesoscopic crystals having covalent and quasi-covalent bonds between atoms.
