Influence of ZnO/graphene nanolaminate periodicity on their structural and mechanical properties

structural, electronic and mechanical properties of ZnO/Graphene（ZnO/G） nanolaminates fabricated by low temperature atomic layer deposition（ALD） and chemical vapor deposition（CVD） were *** performed scanning and transmission electron microscopy（sEM/TEM）, X-ray diffraction（XRD）, electron energy loss spectroscopy（EELs）, Raman spectroscopy, X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPs） and nanoindentation to characterize the ZnO/G nanolaminates. The main structural and mechanical parameters of ZnO/G nanolaminates were calculated. The obtained results were analyzed and interpreted taking into account mechanical interaction and charge effects occurring at the G-ZnO interface. The influence of graphene sublayers number on the mechanical behavior of the ZnO/G nanolaminates was studied. By reducing the bilayer thickness, the mechanical parameters of the films can be tuned（Young＇s modulus100-200 GPa, hardness 3-9 GPa）. The softer response of the multilayers as compared to the single layers of ZnO and graphene was attributed to the structural changes in the ZnO layer and the interfaces. This study shows the mechanical behavior of ZnO/G nanolaminates and their influence on the development of novel electro-optical devices based on these structures.

Cerebral pericytes are perivascular cells that stabilize blood vessels. Little is known about the plasticity of pericytes in the adult brain in vivo. Recently, using stateof-the-art technologies, including two-photon microscopy in combination with sophisticated Cre/loxP in vivo tracing techniques, a novel role of pericytes was revealed in vascular remodeling in the adult brain. strikingly, after pericyte ablation, neighboring pericytes expand their processes and prevent vascular dilatation. This new knowledge provides insights into pericyte plasticity in the adult brain.

scaffolds are three-dimensional biocompatible structures that can mimic the properties of the extracellular matrix (ECM) of a given tissue, like mechanical support and bioactivity, which provides a platform for cellular adherence, proliferation and differentiation. Consequently, scaffolds are frequently used in tissue engineering with the intention of assisting the regeneration of a damaged tissue, and a major application in bone regeneration. An ideal scaffold needs to be biodegradable, biocompatible, and needs to match the biomechanical properties of bone. Polymers are widely used in this field because they fulfil the first two requirements. However, no polymeric material can achieve mechanical properties similar to the bone. For that reason, polymeric nanocomposites, which consist of ceramic/metallic nanoparticles dispersed in a polymer matrix, are being considered for bone scaffold fabrication in order to overcome this problem, since nanoparticles are known to improve composite mechanical strength, and enhance other properties.

The Gentio metagranitoid presents equigranular and porphyritic facies, modal composition ranging from tonalite to monzogranite with calculated T_(Zr)st samples. Its mineralogy is dominated by quartz and feldspar(77% to 95%), biotite is the only mafic mineral present(2% to 18%) and, titanite, zircon, apatite, allanite are important accessory phases. These rocks range from metaluminous to weakly peraluminous, and have large variation in major and trace elements, and high alkali contents(>6 wt.%). Zircon analyses by LA-ICP-Ms and sHRIMP yielded a concordia age of 2 119±10 Ma for the porphyritic facies and an upper intercept age of 2 111±15 Ma for the equigranular facies. The whole-rock sm-Nd T_(DM) ages vary from 2.4 to 2.8 Ga with ε_(Nd)(2.1) values between -0.7 and-5.3, indicating crustal derivation from distinct and/or heterogeneous protoliths. Field observations indicate that the Gentio metagranitoid was formed through different pulses of magma. Individual batches were subject to little or even no fractionation process after its emplacement. Although the Gentio metagranitoid crosscuts metamafic and metaultramafic rocks akin to an oceanic arc setting, this pluton is likely originated by partial melting of a more evolved quartz-feldspathic crustal igneous rock in a post-collisional environment, after the accretion of the arcs from the Mineiro belt and rocks of the Mantiqueira Complex.

Renin angiotensin system in liver diseases: Friend or foe?

In the last three decades,the understanding of the renin angiotensin system(RAs)has been changed by the discoveries of functional local systems,novel biologically active peptides,additional specific receptors,alternative pathways of angiotensin(Ang)?Ⅱ?generation,and new roles for enzymes and precursor components other than those in Ang?Ⅱ?*** this regard,the discovery that Ang-(1-7)opposes the pressor,proliferative,pro-fibrotic,and pro-inflammatory effects mediated by Ang?Ⅱ?has contributed to the realization that the RAs is composed of two *** first axis consists of the angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE),with Ang?Ⅱ?as the end product,and the angiotensin type 1(AT1)receptor as the main effector mediating the biological actions of Ang?Ⅱ.The second axis results from ACE2-mediated hydrolysis of Ang?Ⅱ,leading to the production of Ang-(1-7),with the Mas receptor as the main effector conveying the vasodilatory,antiproliferative,anti-fibrotic,and anti-inflammatory effects of Ang-(1-7).Experimental and clinical studies have shown that both axes of the RAs may take part in the pathogenesis of liver *** this manuscript,we summarize the current evidence regarding the role of RAs in hepatic cirrhosis and its complications,including hemodynamic changes and hepatorenal *** therapeutic potential of the modulation of RAs molecules in liver diseases is also discussed.

string similarity join is an essential operation of many applications that need to find all similar string pairs from two given collections. A quantitative way to determine whether two strings are similar is to compute their similarity based on a certain similarity function. The string pairs with similarity above a certain threshold are regarded as results. The current approach to solving the similarity join problem is to use a unique threshold value. There are, however, several scenarios that require the support of multiple thresholds, for instance, when the dataset includes strings of various lengths. In this scenario, longer string pairs typically tolerate much more typos than shorter ones. Therefore, we proposed a so- lution for string similarity joins that supports different simi- larity thresholds in a single operator. In order to support dif- ferent thresholds, we devised two novel indexing techniques： partition based indexing and similarity aware indexing. To utilize the new indices and improve the join performance, we proposed new filtering methods and index probing tech- niques. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that addresses this problem. Experimental results on real-world datasets show that our solution performs efficiently while pro- viding a more flexible threshold specification.
