Background: Liste.iosis affe.ts immunosuppre.se. individual’s e.pe.ially pre.nant wome.. Mate.nal infe.tions are.usually mild for the.woman, but may have.de.astating e.fe.ts on the.unborn child, including miscarriage. stillbirth, pre.e.m labour and se.ious ne.natal illne.s. WHO re.omme.ds that pre.nant wome. should be.e.ucate. to avoid foods with high risk of contamination. This study se.ks to e.aluate.knowle.ge.and practice. pre.isposing to liste.ia infe.tions during pre.nancy. Me.hodology: This is a cross-se.tional study on pre.nant wome., atte.ding the.ante.atal clinic of Lagos Unive.sity Te.ching Hospital (LUTH) using se.i structure. que.tionnaire.. The.knowle.ge.score.of participants was collate. and analyze. using SPSS ve.sion 26. Re.ults: The.me.n age.of the.participants was 32.07 ± 5.6 ye.rs. Forty-thre. (30.7%) wome. have.had pre.ious miscarriage. with the.me.n no of miscarriage.of 1.54. Out of 147 participants, only 20 (13.6%) admitte. having he.rd of liste.iosis while.127 (86.4%) had ne.e. he.rd of liste.iosis and none.of the.participants has e.e. be.n te.te. for liste.iosis. The.Ove.all knowle.ge.score.was poor, and this was irre.pe.tive.of age.and duration of pre.nancy. Howe.e., wome. with graduate.and/or postgraduate.de.re.s we.e.more.like.y to have.he.rd of Liste.iosis (X2 = 10.88, P = 0.028). Conclusion: Our study shows a low le.e. of knowle.ge.about this food-borne.illne.s, which can le.d to se.e.e.illne.se. in pre.nant wome. and the.r unborn child. It is ne.e.sarily to e.ucate.pre.nant wome. on the.risk of liste.iosis. This would be.a ke. factor in cre.ting and imple.e.ting accurate.me.sure. of pre.e.tion and control.

Background: Liste.iosis is a common zoonotic dise.se.cause. by a foodborne.pathoge., e.>Liste.ia monocytoge.e.e.>. This study e.aluate. the.occurre.ce.of e.>Liste.ia spe.ie.e.> in fae.e. of poultry chicke. in Lagos. Me.hods: One.hundre. and fourte.n poole. fre.h fae.al sample. from cage.re.re. broile. chicke.s we.e.colle.te. from 12 farms in thre. rural are.s in Lagos State.from May to August 2019. All sample. we.e.analyse. for e.>Liste.iae.> spe.ie. de.e.tion according to ISO11290-1 standard and confirme. using PCR assay. Susce.tibility te.ting was pe.forme. using the.Kirby-Baue. disc diffusion te.hnique. Re.ults: Twe.ty-e.ght (24.6%) e.>Liste.ia e.>spe.ie. we.e.de.e.te. from 114 fae.al sample.. The.isolate. e.>Liste.iae.> spe.ie. we.e.e.> L. monocytoge.e.e.> 8 (7.0%), e.>L. ivanoviie.> 9 (7.9%),e.> L. grayi e.>7 (6.1%) ande.> L. innocuae.> 4 (3.5%). The.e.was no significant diffe.e.ce.in the.fre.ue.cy of occurre.ce.of e.>Liste.iae.> spe.ie. across the.diffe.e.t locations (X2 = 4.98, p = 0.08). The.liste.ia spe.ie. we.e.susce.tible.to Augme.tin (96.4%), vancomycin (85.7%) and co-trimoxazole.(82.1%), but re.istant to ce.tazidime.(100%), te.racycline.(75.0%) and ciprofloxacin (71.4%). In this re.e.rch work we.propose.a mathe.atical mode. of an inve.tory syste. with time.de.e.de.t thre.-parame.e. We.bull de.e.ioration and price-dependent demand rate. The model incorporates shortages and deteriorating items are considered in which inventory is depleted not only by demand but also by decay, such as, direct spoilage as in fruits, vegetables and food products, or deterioration as in obsolete electronic components. Furthermore, the rate of deterioration is taken to be time-proportional, and a power law form of the price dependence of demand is considered. This price-dependence of the demand function is nonlinear, and is such that when price of a commodity increases, demand decreases and when price of a commodity decreases, demand increases. The objective of the model is to minimize the total inventory costs. From the numerical example presented to illustrate the solution procedure of the model, we obtain meaningful results. We then proceed to perform sensitivity analysis of our model. The sensitivity analysis illustrates the extent to which the optimal solution of the model is affected by slight changes or errors in its input parameter values.

Background: Acce.s to te.ting for SARS-CoV-2 in Nige.ia is still highly re.tricte.. Only patie.ts who are.symptomatic for SARS-CoV-2 are.se.e.te. for te.ting. This patte.n of te.ting will miss a large.proportion of individuals with the.infe.tion who are.asymptomatic and pre.ymptomatic. This study re.orts the.e.pe.ie.ce.of a symptom-base. study from a large.te.ting ce.tre.in Nige.ia. Me.hods: A cross-se.tional study, re.ie.ing data colle.te. from re.ponde.ts pre.e.ting at the.Nige.ian Institute.of Me.ical Re.e.rch (NIMR) modifie. drive.through ce.te. for COVID-19 te.t be.we.n the.pe.iod March 31st and August 31st, 2020 we.e.include. in the.analysis. Re.ults: A total of 9891 participants we.e.re.ruite. into the.study and 2465 participants (24.9%) had a positive.PCR re.ult for SARS-CoV-2. The.majority of the.re.ponde.ts we.e.above.18 ye.rs old, n = 9163 (93.4%). The.ave.age.age.of the.re.ponde.ts was 36.7 ye.rs (sd 13.8 ye.rs). The.age.of the.participants has a significant e.fe.t on SARS-CoV-2 status (AOR = 1.009, CI, 1.005 to 1.012, p = 0.0001). The.e.was a male.pre.onde.ance. n = 5652 (57.6%). The.odds of having a positive.status for SARS-CoV-2 we.e.0.9 time. lowe. for fe.ale.participants. The.majority of the.re.ponde.ts had a history of trave., n = 6788 (68.6%). Cough was the.commone.t symptom, n = 1062 (10.7%) followe. by fe.e., n = 979 (9.9%). The.mortality rate.was 0.1%. Among the.participants with comorbidity, 31 (51.7%) had positive.re.ults for SARS-CoV-2 while.29 (48.3%) had ne.ative.re.ults. Conclusion: Symptom-base. approach to te.ting for SARS-CoV-2 in Nige.ia re.e.le. a high positivity rate. while.mortality from those.te.te. in the.study is low. Age.and ge.de. appe.r to play a significant role.in the.dynamics of the.dise.se.

目的:回顾发展中国家在治疗视网膜母细胞瘤中的挑战。方法:回顾1998-01/2002-12,埃努古的尼日利亚大学教学医院和e.rans临床中心的视网膜母细胞瘤患者的临床及组织病理学资料。结果:总共34例通过组织学被确诊为视网膜母细胞瘤患者。男25例(74%),女9例(26%),男女比例为1∶0.4。平均年龄2.9±1.5岁(5mo～7岁)。6例(18%)患者为双眼发病,28例(82%)为单眼。所予以的治疗为眼内容物剜除术或眼球摘除术联合化疗。结论:在发展中国家,由于患者未及时就诊、贫穷、医疗资源匮乏等因素,视网膜母细胞瘤的治疗现状很差。改善其在发展中国家的治疗,应包括健康教育、早期诊断及提供现代化治疗设施。

Introduction: He.atitis B virus (HBV) infe.tion is a major cause.of pre.atal de.th worldwide. Chronic he.atitis B (CHB) infe.tion is associate. with an incre.se. risk of cirrhosis, he.atic de.omposition, and he.atoce.lular carcinoma (HCC). Obje.tive. This proje.t work surve.e. the.pre.ale.ce.of he.atitis B among fe.rile.patie.ts as we.l as to de.e.t he.atitis B virus in the.blood and the.stage.of the.infe.tion of he.atitis B on the.affe.te. patie.ts and carrie. stage.or state.of immunity of the.affe.te. patie.ts. Me.hodology: A we.l-de.igne. que.tionnaire.che.klist was use. to gathe. information re.arding age. HIV-Status, and se. from 50 fe.rile.patie.ts. 2 ml of blood sample.was obtaine. by ve.in-puncture.using a ste.ile.hypode.mic syringe.and e.ptie. into a cle.n dry tube.(without anticoagulant) obse.ving the.ne.e.sary ase.tic te.hnique.. The.blood was ce.trifuge. and the.se.a obtaine. and store. at 2 - 8 c for HBsAg scre.ning. He.atitis B virus was te.te. using ane.> in-vitro e.>diagnostic kit calle. HBsAg one.ste. rapid te.t strip. The.HBsAg one.ste. rapid te.t is a late.al flow chromatographic immunoassay base. on the.principle.of the.double.antibody-sandwich te.hnique. The.me.brane.is pre.coate. with anti-HBsAg antibodie. on the.te.t line.re.ion of the.te.t. During te.ting, the.se.um spe.ime. re.cts with the.particle.coate. with anti-HBsAg antibody. The.se.um move. up with capillary action to re.ct with the.coate. antibody on the.me.brane. The., the.colore. line.(positive. will be.ge.e.ate. which shows the.pre.e.ce.of the.virus. But ne.ative.shows abse.ce.of the.virus. The.blood in the.te.t tube.was spun using a ce.trifuge.to se.arate.the.re. ce.ls from the.se.um. The.te.t pouch, se.um, and control we.e.allowe. to e.uilibrate.to room te.pe.ature.be.ore.te.ting. The.te.t strip was re.ove. from the.se.le. pouch and use. imme.iate.y.
