The research topic is the one of public finance company whose core business is focused to support investment projects to overcome enterprises technological and structural gap. The research question is： If and how a public finance company is able to create and favor value creation processes sustainability for agro-food enterprises, highlighting the positive emerging externalities for different categories of stakeholders. They have results with particular evidences allow comparisons between the private investments and the support of institutional public investors. In such perspective, the mode of disbursement of soft loans and investment operations made by a public financing company will be examined. The methodological approach used, following a deductive-inductive perspective, is based on the ease study. Such technique able to formulate theories about a little known phenomena in their context, allows the study of recent events on which the researcher has little control. To this, a qualitative analysis on both primary and secondary data adds. From data analysis, it resulted that the Institute of Agribusiness Development （ISA） initiatives facilitated, just for example, the technological innovation of production department and consequent production capacity, the acquisition of production assets for row material processing and optimization of internal logistics, through an innovative automated warehouse. As a result, the case study finds sustainability at multiple levels reached by the activities promoted by ISA and the subsequent co-creation of value for stakeholders involved, small agro-food businesses innovation, and/or internationalization processes. As long as practical implications are concerned, such highlight the importance and the need for public and private institutions in their effort to continue to invest in projects to support the economy of the country. This paper reports on the current state of an ongoing research project which is aimed at implementing intelligent models for hardly predictable hazard scenarios identification in construction sites. As any programmatic actions cannot deal with the unpredictable nature of many risk dynamics, an attempt to improve the current approach for safety management in the construction industry will be presented in this paper. To this aim, the features offered by Bayesian networks have been exploited. The present research has led to the definition of a probabilistic model using elicitation techniques from subjective knowledge. This model, which might be meant as a reliable knowledge map about accident dynamics, showed that a relevant part of occurrences fall in the ＂hardly predictable hazards＂ category, which cannot be warded off by programmatic safety measures. Hence, more effort turned out to be needed in order to manage those hardly predictable hazardous scenarios. Consequently, further developments of this research project will focus on a real time monitoring system for the identification of unpredictable hazardous events in construction.

Cone-beam computed tomography （CBCT） has been recently used to analyse trabecular bone structure around dental implants. To validate the use of CBCT for three-dimensional （3D） peri-implant trabecular bone morphometry by comparing it to two-dimensional （2D） histology, 36 alveolar bone samples （with implants n=27 vs. without implants n=9） from six mongrel dogs, were scanned ex vivo using a high-resolution （80 ~m） CBCT. After scanning, all samples were decalcified and then sectioned into thin histological sections （-6 jim） to obtain high contrast 2D images. By using CTAn imaging software, bone morphometric parameters including trabecular number （Tb.N）, thickness （***）, separation （***） and bone volume fraction （BV/TV） were examined on both CBCT and corresponding histological images. Higher *** and ***, lower BV/TV and Tb.N were found on CBCT images （P〈0.001）. Both measurements on the peri-implant trabecular bone structure showed moderate to high correlation （r=0.65-0.85）. The Bland-Altman plots showed strongest agreement for *** followed by ***, Tb.N and BV/TV, regardless of the presence of implants. The current findings support the assumption that peri-implant trabecular bone structures based on high-resolution CBCT measurements are representative for the underlying histological bone characteristics, indicating a potential clinical diagnostic use of CBCT-based peri-implant bone morphometric characterisation.

Diarrhoea is an alteration of normal bowel movement characterized by an increase in the water content, volume, or frequency of stools. Diarrhoea needs to be classified according to the trends over time （acute or chronic） and to the characteristics of the stools （watery, fatty, inflammatory）. Secretory diarrhoeas, mostly acute and of viral aetiology in more than 70% of cases, are by far the most important subtype of diarrhoeas in terms of frequency, incidence and mortality （over 2.5 million deaths/year in developing countries）. Natural and synthetic opiates such as morphine, codeine, and Ioperamide which react with endogenous opiates （enkephalins, beta-endorphins, dynorphins） mainly act on intestinal motility and slow down transit. An antidiarrhoeal drug developed in recent years, racecadotril, acts as an enkephalinase inhibitor. Clinical studies have shown that it is just as effective as ioperamide in resolving acute diarrhoea but with greater reduction in pain and abdominal distension. Some studies have explored the prevalence of diarrhoea in old age. An epidemiological study carried out in Italy by 133 General Practitioners on 5515 elderly outpatients reported a prevalence of diarrhoea, defined according to the Rome criteria, of 9.1%. Infectious diseases （19%） and drug use （16%） were the most common causes of diarrhoea in old age. Regardless of the cause, the treatment of elderly patients with diarrhoea must include rehydration and nutritional support. Every year, more than 50 million tourists travel from industrialized countries to places where hygiene levels are pool. At least 75% of those travelling for short periods mention health problems, and in particular traveller＇s diarrhoea.

Performance Analysis of a Woodchip Downdraft Gasifier： Numerical Prediction and Experimental Validation

The study deals with a multi-faceted theoretical approach, symbolic, analytical and numerical, based on the chemical equilibrium assumption, addressed at predicting the performance trends of downdrafi wood-gasification processes so to assess the optimal ranges of input parameters, in particular the equivalence ratios, suitable to achieving the highest cold gas efficiencies whilst keeping the more the possible tar-free the produced bio-syngas. The time-steady, zero-dimensional model has been developed within MATLAB （the computing language and interactive environment from Matrix Laboratory） and solved by enforcing the constraints posed by the equilibrium constants in relation to two reactions, gas-water shift and methanation. Particular care is devoted toward verifying the real attainment of the equilibrium condition, as attested by an actual presence of products from the equilibrium reactions together with a zero difference AE between the energy flows entering and exiting the system, an issue often overlooked. With respect to other similar theoretical approaches, the numerical model, assisted by the symbolic counterpart for better interpretation and intrinsic validation of results, shows a distinct advantage in predicting rather accurately the syngas composition for varying gasification temperatures, as attested by cross comparisons with experimental data directly taken on an instrumented, dedicated, small-scale downdraft gasifier operational at DIME/SCL （the Savona Combustion Laboratory of DIME, the Dept. of Mechanical, Energy, Management and Transportation Engineering of Genova University）. The behavior of cold gas efficiency clearly points out that, from an energy conversion point of view, the optimal gasification temperatures turn out comprised between 900 ℃ and 1,000 ℃： this range is indeed characterized by the highest concentrations in the energy-rich syngas components CO and H2. The significance and diagnostic value of semen analysis in chronic bacterial prostatitis has been extensively debated and remains controversial. To investigate the diagnostic relevance of semen culture in the bacteriological workup of prostatitis patients, we retrospectively analyzed a clinical database of 696 symptomatic patients. All patients were routinely subjected to a four-glass test, followed by semen culture and analysis. This allowed to dissect from the database three different diagnostic scenarios, and to compare the ＇two-glass＇ pre-/post- massage test and the standard ＇four-glass＇ test with a ＇five-glass＇ test （four-glass plus post-VB3 semen culture）. The ＇five-glass＇ test showed 3.6- or 6.5-fold increases in relative sensitivity and lesser reductions （-13.2% or -14.7%） in relative specificity for traditional uropathogens （TUs） compared with the four-glass or two-glass test, respectively. The area under the ROC curve and Jouden＇s index were increased, whereas positive and negative likelihood ratios were lower than comparators, indicating that the ＇five-glass＇ assay may be superior in confirming the negative outcome of both standard tests. The five-, four-, and two-glass tests detected TUs （Enterobacteriaceae, Enterococci, etc.） in 120, 33, and 20 patients and unusual pathogens （Streptococci, other Gram-positive species, Mycoplasmata, and others） in 130, 56, and 45 patients, respectively. When patients were subjected to pharmacological treatment, including a combination of a fluoroquinolone and a macrolide, no differences in eradication rates were observed between groups diagnosed with different tests, irrespective of pathogen category. Eradication was associated with long-term sign/symptom remission; no significant intergroup differences in sign/symptom scores were observed throughout a 24-month off-therapy follow-up period. The present study is aimed at investigating the changes between pre-test and post-test, after having introduced an aerobic programme of physical activity (one session, each of 45’ per week for 15 weeks, over a span of roughly four months, delivered by specially trained instructor), in the psychological situation (perception of general health, feelings of geriatric depression) and physical condition (activities of daily living, physical performance in terms of balance and gait, weight, and body mass index–BMI) of a group of senior citizens slightly compromised at Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE: median 23) and living in a residential care facility in northern Italy. The 36-Item Short Form Health Survey Questionnaire (SF-36), the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), the Italian short version of Barthel's Index of Activities of Daily Living (BADL), the Tinetti Assessment Tool were administered to 18 old men and women (median age 85.50 years). The findings (we used non- parametric statistical techniques) showed that: 1) general health perception, feelings of depression, and activities of daily were stable;2) general physical performance, and particularly the balance, increased between pre-test and post-test, while weight, BMI and waist circumference decreased. These results underline the importance, especially in the case of women, of participating at an aerobic training delivered by experienced instructors for the physical condition of senior citizens, also when they are slightly cognitively compromised.

The liver is the main organ responsible for the metabolism of drugs and toxic chemicals, and so is the primary target organ for many organic solvents. Work activities with hepatotoxins exposures are numerous and, moreover, organic solvents are used in various industrial processes. Organic solvents used in different industrial processes may be associated with hepatotoxicity. Several factors contribute to liver toxicity; among these are: species differences, nutritional condition, genetic factors, interaction with medications in use, alcohol abuse and interaction, and age. This review addresses the mechanisms of hepatotoxicity. The main pathogenic mechanisms responsible for functional and organic damage caused by solvents are: inflammation, dysfunction of cytochrome P450, mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress. The health impact of exposure to solvents in the workplace remains an interesting and worrying question for professional health work.
