近些年来,智能传感器技术得到了广泛的关注,通过利用有限的资源和较小的人为干扰,合理地规划了多项活动和任务,在农业、目标跟踪、健康监测、野外火源眼踪等领域得到了广泛的应用。目前,智能农业领域有许多新技术在种植者中很受欢迎,然而,安全问题并没有得到足够的重视,这是影响农作物生长的主要问题之一。来自未开化公民的动物袭击和盗窃行为,在农民中使用当地的方法来保护他们的农作物,这在某种程度上起到了作用,但这需要大量工作,这需要他们靠近农田,以防出现危险和耗时的情况。因此,需要新的思路和方法来改变大多数非洲国家使用的传统安全耕作习惯。本文提出了一种利用无线传感器网络(WSN)检测农地入侵者的自动化系统。该系统将产生警报,同时通过可能位置的蜂窝网络向责任人发送警告信息,以便入侵者进入农业用地时采取必要的行动。为了提高系统的有效性,居住在附近地区的居民当发现任何入侵或未经授权的活动时,也可以使用他们的移动手机通过同一系统发送警告信息。系统原型采用Arduino-Uno单片机,一些传感器用于检测入侵者对保护区和蜂鸣器的移动和距离。安卓手机用下接收警告信息并将其转发至指挥所中心。指挥所中心采用了Telerivet消息传递平台来设计消息传递服务。

本文的目的是解释文化差异如何影响跨境并购。我们使用了2015年进行的147个不同的跨国并购交易的样本。对于此类交易,收购公司都位于美国,而目标公司来自18个不同的国家。异常的股市收益是用来衡量并购交易后并购公司财务状况的变量。为了衡量文化差异,我们使用了一个变量,该变量说明了Hofstede文化距离的所有六个维度。本文证明,事实上,两家从事跨国并购交易的公司的文化差异与交易后的并购公司的财务绩效之间存在明显的正相关关系。关于文化差异对并购绩效的影响,目前尚无共识,许多文献认为,文化差异具有负面影响。对此明显矛盾的解释是,问题不在于文化距离本身,而在于企业解决整合的方式。此外,本文还为收购公司提供了一些建议,说明如何有效地推进整合以实现理想的协同效应。

The Aedes(Ae.)aegypti and *** mosquitoes are vectors of epidemiologically relevant arboviruses in the public health context,such as the dengue,Zika and chikungunya *** the alternatives to synthetic insecticides for the control of these vectors,the use of natural plant products deserves *** review summarizes findings on the larvicidal potential of plant extracts on *** and ***,as well as the potential of isolated compounds from plants of the Annonaceae and Piperaceae families against these *** related to larvicidal activity of plant extracts and isolated compounds in Aedes *** the Web of Science database were used,for plant extracts considering publications between 2000 and 2019.A total of 859 articles were analyzed for plant extracts and estimates of lethal concentration values(LC50 and LC90).In the end,95 articles that presented the larvicidal potential of 150 plant species from 52 families were *** two families most studied for this activity were Fabaceae and Asterace *** plant families with the best LC50 values against mosquitoes were Piperaceae and *** activity of 50 acetogenins has already been identified on ***,and 29 of them presented LC50 below 10μg/mL,as well as the larvicidal activity of 8 compounds isolated from ***,plants of these two families are promising for the development of commercial botanical larvicides in the form of extracts and isolated substances,as well as the production via organic synthesis of the most active compounds.

This study aimed to understand bark thickness variations of Araucaria angustifolia(Bertol.)Kuntze trees growing in natural forest remnants in southern Brazil,and their relationship with quantitative and qualitative *** thickness must be accurately estimated in order to determine timber volume *** is an important variable for the sustainable management and conservation of araucaria *** spite of its importance and visibility,bark thickness variations have not been evaluated for this key species in southern Brazil.A total of 104 trees were selected,and their qualitative and quantitative attributes such as diameter at breast height(D_(BH)),height(H),crown base height(C_(BH)),crown length(C_(L)),social position(S_(P)),stoniness(S_(T)),position on the relief(P_(R)),vitality(V_T)and branch arrangement(B_(A))were *** trees were categorized into two groups:red bark or gray *** analysis and artificial neural networks(ANN)were used for modelling bark *** results indicate that:(1)bark thickness showed good correlation to D_(BH),with 0.76 as coefficient of determination(RS_P),0.540 as Mean Absolute Error(M_(AE))and 22.4 root-meansquare error in percentage(R_(MSE%));(2)the trend changed according to bark colour,with significant differences for the intersection(_0–Pr>F:p=0.0124)and slope(β_(1)–Pr>F:p=0.0126)of bark thickness curves between groups;(3)the highest correlation of bark thickness was found with:D_(BH)(ρ=0.88),H(ρ=0.58),C_(BH)(ρ=0.46),S_(P)(ρ=-0.52),and B_(A)(ρ=-0.32);(4)modelling with ANN confirmed high adjustment(R^(2)=0.99)and accuracy(R_(MSE%)=3.0)of the *** is an efficient and robust technique for the modelling of various qualitative and quantitative attributes commonly used in forest *** effective use of ANN to estimate araucaria bark in natural forests reinforces its potential,besides the possibility of application for other forest species.

Tissue-specific Gene Expression Changes Are Associated with Aging in Mice

Aging is a complex process that can be characterized by functional and cognitive decline in an individual. Aging can be assessed based on the functional capacity of vital organs and their intricate interactions with one another. Thus, the nature of aging can be described by focusing on a specific organ and an individual itself. However, to fully understand the complexity of aging,one must investigate not only a single tissue or biological process but also its complex interplay and interdependencies with other biological processes. Here, using RNA-seq, we monitored changes in the transcriptome during aging in four tissues(including brain, blood, skin and liver) in mice at9 months, 15 months, and 24 months, with a final evaluation at the very old age of 30 *** identified several genes and processes that were differentially regulated during aging in both tissue-dependent and tissue-independent manners. Most importantly, we found that the electron transport chain(ETC) of mitochondria was similarly affected at the transcriptome level in the four tissues during the aging process. We also identified the liver as the tissue showing the largest variety of differentially expressed genes(DEGs) over time. Lcn2(Lipocalin-2) was found to be similarly regulated among all tissues, and its effect on longevity and survival was validated using its orthologue in Caenorhabditis elegans. Our study demonstrated that the molecular processes of aging are relatively subtle in their progress, and the aging process of every tissue depends on the tissue’s specialized function and environment. Hence, individual gene or process alone cannot be described as the key of aging in the whole organism.

In vitro 3D malignant melanoma model for the evaluation of hypericin-loaded oil-in-water microemulsion in photodynamic therapy

Advances in biomimetic three-dimensional(3D) melanoma models have brought new prospects of drug screening and disease modeling, since their physiological relevancy for recapitulating in vivo tumor architectures is more accurate than traditional two-dimensional(2D) cell culture. Gelatin methacryloyl(GelMA) is widely used as a tissue-engineered scaffold hydrogel for 3D cell culture. In the present study, an in vitro 3D malignant melanoma model based on Gel MA was fabricated to evaluate the efficiency of hypericin(Hy)-loaded microemulsion(ME) in photodynamic therapy against melanoma. The ME was produced by the spontaneous emulsification method to enhance the bioavailability of Hy at tumor sites. Hy-loaded MEs were applied to a 3D malignant melanoma model made using 6% Gel MA and the co-culture of B16F10 and Balb/c 3T3 cells,followed by crosslinking using violet light(403 nm). The observation revealed excellent cell viability and the presence of F-actin cytoskeleton network. Hy-loaded MEs exhibited higher phototoxicity and cell accumulation(about threefold) than free Hy, and the cells cultured in the 3D system displayed lower susceptibility(about 2.5-fold) than those in 2D *** findings indicate that the developed MEs are potential delivery carriers for Hy;furthermore, Gel MA hydrogel-based modeling in polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) molds is a user-friendly and cost-effective in vitro platform to investigate drug penetration and provide a basis for evaluating nanocarrier efficiency for skin cancer and other skin-related diseases.

We are now on the verge of the next technical revolution—robots are going to invade our lives. However, to interact with humans or to be incorporated into a human “collective” robots have to be provided with some human-like cognitive abilities. What does it mean?—Nobody knows. But, robotics research communities are trying hard to find out a way to cope with this problem. Meanwhile, despite abundant funding these efforts did not lead to any meaningful result (only in Europe, only in the past ten years, Cognitive Robotics research funding has reached a ceiling of 1.39 billion euros). In the next ten years, a similar budget is going to be spent to tackle the Cognitive Robotics problems in the frame of the Human Brain Project. There is no reason to expect that this time the result will be different. We would like to try to explain why we are so unhappy about this.
