Effect of supplementing layer hen diet with phytogenic feed additives on laying performance, egg quality, egg lipid peroxidation and blood biochemical constituents

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of supplementing laying hen diet with phytogenic additives on laying performance, egg quality, blood constituents and egg lipid peroxidation. Two hundred Lohmann Brown Lite laying hens were randomly allotted to 4 dietary treatments: control(without phytogenic additive), fennel seeds(5 g/kg), black cumin seeds(5 g/kg) and hot red pepper(5 g/kg).Each of the 4 diets was fed to 5 replicates of 10 hens for 8 weeks. No significant differences were observed in body weight or feed intake between the groups. Dietary inclusion of fennel followed by red pepper improved(P < 0.05) egg weight, egg production, egg mass and feed conversion ratio compared with control. Higher yolk shape index, shell and albumen weight percentages and Haugh unit(P < 0.05)were recorded in the fennel supplemented group compared with control. The egg yolk color score increased by the addition of fennel or hot red pepper in laying hen diets compared with control. The inclusion of black cumin or hot red pepper decreased serum and egg yolk cholesterol and malondialdehyde concentrations(P < 0.05) compared with control. Serum aspartate aminotransferase concentration was lower in black cumin group(P < 0.05) than in other treatments. In conclusion, the best laying performance and egg quality were obtained by dietary inclusion of fennel, followed by hot red pepper and black cumin. Dietary supplementation of black cumin or red pepper may lead to the development of low-cholesterol concentration and better antioxidant capacity of eggs.

Comparison of inhibitory effect between DL-tryptophan and lactoferrin on Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm formation in wound dressing

Objective: To compare the inhibitory effect between DL-tryptophan and bovine lactoferrin on biofilm formed by isolated Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains. Methods: The study was carried out on 40 patients suffering from surgical site infection. Wound pus was collected using sterile swabs after isolation, and identified by common bacteriological methods. Isolated Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains were grown on biofilm enhancing materials, and then the inhibitory effects of different concentrations of DL-tryptophan and lactoferrin were tested using scanning electron microscopy and microtitre plate methods. Results: There was no significant difference in the inhibitory effect between DL-tryptophan and lactoferrin at 0.5 mg/mL. While in concentration of 1 mg/mL and 2 mg/mL, tryptophan showed more significant inhibitory effect than lactoferrin. Conclusions: Both DL-tryptophan and bovine lactoferrin have inhibitory effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm formation in a dose dependent manner, and the inhibitory effect of DL-tryptophan is stronger.

Background We aimed to systematically review the clinical and laboratory features of patients with the multisystem inflam-matory syndrome in pediatrics diagnosed during the COVID-19 *** sources A literature search in Web of Science,PubMed,Scopus,and Science Direct was made up to June 29,*** Analysis of 15 articles(318 COVID-19 patients)revealed that although many patients presented with the typical multisystem inflammatory syndrome in pediatrics,Kawasaki-like features as fever(82.4%),polymorphous maculopapular exanthema(63.7%),oral mucosal changes(58.1%),conjunctival injections(56.0%),edematous extremities(40.7%),and cervical lymphadenopathy(28.5%),atypical gastrointestinal(79.4%)and neurocognitive symptoms(31.8%)were also *** had elevated serum lactic acid dehydrogenase,D-dimer,C-reactive protein,procalcitonin,interleukin-6,troponin I levels,and *** 77.0%developed hypotension,and 68.1%went into shock,while 41.1%had acute kidney *** care was needed in 73.7%of cases;13.2%were intubated,and 37.9%required mechanical *** immunoglobulins and steroids were given in 87.7%and 56.9%of the patients,respectively,and anticoagulants were utilized in 67.0%.Pediatric patients were discharged after a hospital stay of 6.77 days on average(95%CI 4.93-8.6).Conclusions Recognizing the typical and atypical presentation of the multisystem inflammatory syndrome in pediatric COVID-19 patients has important implications in identifying children at *** cardiac and renal decompensation and early interventions in patients with multisystem inflammatory syndrome is critical to prevent further morbidity.

Structural and Surface Morphology Analysis of Copper Phthalocyanine Thin Film Prepared by Pulsed Laser Deposition and Thermal Evaporation Techniques

In the present paper, Copper Phthalocyanine (CuPc) thin films were deposited on glass and silicon substrate by thermal evaporation and pulsed laser deposition (PLD) methods. CuPc thin films prepared at different annealing temperatures (298, 323, 348, 373, 423 K) respectively. The structure and surface morphology of CuPc in powder and thin films forms prepared by two methods were studied using Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray f§lt;span§gt;lorescence (XRF), X-ray§lt;/span§gt;diffraction (XRD), Atomic force microscope (AFM), and Scanning electron microscope (SEM). It showed that there was a change and enhancement in the crystallinity and surface morphology due to change in the annealing temperature (T§lt;sub§gt;a§lt;/sub§gt;). The purpose of our work is to find the optimal temperature for which the film produces best structural properties for CuPc thin film to produce organic field effect transistor. Analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns of CuPc in powder form showed that it had an α-poly-crystalline phase with monoclinic structure, with preferentially oriented (100) plane transform to §lt;i§gt;β§lt;/i§gt;-single crystalline morestable structure at different annealing temperatures.

Capacitive-Resistive Measurements of Cobalt-Phthalocyanine Organic Humidity Sensors

In this study, the fabrication and characterization of capacitive humidity sensors using cobalt-phthalocyanine （CoPc） as the active material were presented. Thin films of CoPc were deposited by drop casting on glass substrates with pre-deposited aluminum electrodes to form A1/CoPc/A1 surface-type humidity sensors. The effect of humidity on the electrical properties of the CoPc film was investigated by measuring capacitance and resistance of the samples at four different frequencies of the applied voltage. It was observed that the capacitance of the sensor increased while the resistance decreased with raising the relative humidity. It was also found that the values of capacitance and resistance decreased with increasing frequency. The optical absorption spectra and optical band gap energy of CoPc films were measured. The structure of CoPc powder and thin films has been studied by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and atomic force microscopy （AFM）. Results of XRD studies show that the film structure is polycrystalline with the monoclinic structure while thin films have a peak for annealing temperatures with （100） orientation. Also, the surface morphology （grain size and roughness） for CoPc films have been studied by AFM.

Impact Thickness on Structural and Electrical Characterization of Nickel Phthalocyanine Thin Films

Thin films of Nickel Phthalocyanine have been prepared by evaporation technique for (50 - 350 nm) of thickness. XRD studies show that the thin films have single crystalline structure for low thicknesses with (100) orientation and the crystallite size increased with increased thickness. Also from the AFM technique for NiPc films, the roughness was determined and the grain size increases with increasing of thickness from except at thickness 350 nm. The studies of electrical properties, morphology and orientations of the crystallites are important to understand and predict the nature of the films and essential for their successful applications in solar cell and sensors. The electrical properties of these films were studied with different thickness, NiPc has three activation energy. Carrier’s concentration and mobility was calculated. Hall measurements showed that all the films are p-type.

Investigation of Nickel Phthalocyanine Thin Films for Solar Cell Applications

Ni-Phthalocyanine thin films were thermally evaporated with different substrate temperatures (300 - 450) K on (silicon wafer, glass) substrates. The chemical bonds of NiPc powder were investigated by FTIR spectrum, which introduce good information for NiPc bonds and their locations. The optical properties have been studied by UV-Visible, and Photoluminescence (PL) Spectra. The NiPc thin films have direct gap for all samples. The values of energy gap which is calculated by PL spectra are lower than those calculated by Tauc equation. It is found there are three activation energies, the mobility and concentration of carriers have been measured and, the NiPc films are p-type. P-NiPc/n-Si HJ solar cell was fabricated at substrates temperatures (300, 400) K. From I-V and C-V characteristic, abrupt junction has been found, photovoltaic characteristics have been observed with Voc of (0.335 - 0.415) V, and Isc of (2.77 - 4.26) μA, and the efficiency of (3.08 - 5.03)% at room temperature and substrate temperature (300, 400 K) and under illumination of 55 mW/cm2 using Halogen lamp. Ideality factors of the junction increase from (0.61 - 0.73) and barrier height increases from 2.53 eV to 3.69 eV while shunt resistance decreases from 3.76 KΩ to 2.59 KΩ and series resistance decreases slightly from 0.24 KΩ to 0.23 KΩ. The fill factor decreases from 0.46 to 0.4 with the increase of substrate temperature.

The thin films of Nickel Phthalocyanine (NiPc) on glass substrates were prepared by vacuum evaporation at different substrates temperatures (300, 325, 350, 400, 450) K. The structure and surface morphology of NiPc in powder and thin film forms (265 nm) were studied using X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscope (AFM), and showed that there was a change and enhance in the crystallinity and surface morphology due to change in the substrates temperatures. Analysis of X-rays diffraction patterns of NiPc in powder form showed that it had an α-polycrystalline phase with monoclinic system with lattice constants a = 1.513 nm, b = 0.462 nm, c = 2.03 nm and β = 123.46°. Thermal evaporation of NiPc at different substrates temperatures led to β-crystalline films oriented preferentially to the (100) plane with different substrate temperatures. The mean crystallite size increased with substrates temperatures from 300 K to 450 K. This result was supported by AFM measurements, which exhibited a relatively larger grain size.

Impact of renal transplantation on cardiac morphological and functional characteristics in children and adults

AIM To compare the effects of renal transplantation on cardiac functions in children and *** One hundred and ten patients attending the nephrology outpatient clinic were enrolled in this study and were divided into six groups. The first two groups consisted each of 30 renal transplant patients who had a successful renal transplantation more than six months, but less than one year. Group Ⅰ were less than 18 years and group Ⅱ were more than 18 years. The third and fourth groups, each were 20 chronic renal failure patients on regular hemodialysis. Again, group Ⅲ were less than 18 years and group Ⅳ were more than 18 years. Group Ⅴ and Ⅵ(The control Groups) consisted each of 5 subjects below and above 18 years of age, respectively with normal kidney functions. All patients were subjected to history and examination. The kidney functions and the hemoglobin were analyzed. Afterobtaining informed consent, echocardiography was done to all *** There was a statistically significant improvement(P < 0.0001) in all cardiac parameters. A regression in left ventricular end diastolic volume(LVED) both in children(4.7 ± 0.8 to 4.2 ± 0.5) and in adults(5.9 ± 0.7 to 4.9 ± 0.6) were found. There was a regression in left ventricular end systolic volume(LVES) both in children(3.1 ± 0.6 to 2.4 ± 0.4) and in adults(4.1 ± 0.9 to 3.1 ± 0.5). Fractional shortening improves both in children(32.6 ± 5.3 to 41.7 ± 7.6) and in adults(29.0 ± 6.6 to 36.5 ± 4.1). The improvement in ejection fraction(EF) was higher in children(59.7 ± 7.0 to 71.9 ± 6.1) than in adults(52.0 ± 12.5 to 64.8 ± 5.9). However, this degree of improvement(in children: 12.2 ± 5.1) did not show statistical difference(P-value 0.8), when compared to adults(12.7 ± 9.8). CONCLUSION After renal transplantation cardiac functions and morphology(EF/LVED/LVES) do improve markedly and rapidly in both children and adults.
