The previously optimized crude alkaline protease from the haloalkaliphilic Bacillus circulans L. was partially purified using ammonium sulphate fractionation and dialysis. The best specific activity (27.7 U/mg protein) was obtained at 80% saturation. The optimum reaction temperature and reaction pH was 47℃ and 9, respectively. The enzyme activity was enhanced with Ca and K chlorides but suppressed with HgCl2 and EDTA. The partially purified protease showed strong proteolytic activity on sheep wool and chicken feather. Also, the enzyme was compatible with the common detergent Tide and could improve its cleaning power in removing blood stain. These findings support the application of the present alka-line protease in biotechnological industries.

Aspergillus species produce aflatoxins and raise concerns about food safety in departmental stores and manufacturing *** address the risks posed by aflatoxins,and to advise the public on the highest quality rice that serves as a nutritious food source,an inquiry following the guidelines outlined in both local and international standards of food safety for the presence of aflatoxins is an essential ***,16 white rice samples were selected randomly from low/high socio-economic departmental stores from 16 different *** powdered rice filtrate was extracted using *** filtrate applied on TLC plates and the amount of aflatoxin and moisture contents were *** the non-infected rice,moisture content was low(9.08%)whereas high[13.65%>12%(standard>value)]in infected *** out of 8 samples of low-quality rice were contaminated with AFB_(1) and AFB_(2)(ranging from 22.2 to 29.3μg/kg).All the samples except one(22.3μg/kg)from high-quality rice were certified fit despite the contamination with AFB_(1).Furthermore,phylogenetic analysis showed Aspergillus flavus from unfit low(Long grain brown and Brown basmati)and high-quality(Basmati-198)rice whereas *** from unfit low-quality Medium-grain brown *** presented research proves that the detection of fungi and aflatoxins in rice grains poses a huge risk to the health of ***,it is necessary to check the rice grains before distribution.

Objective: Stroke is perceived as a serious illness although it is preventable, and lifestyle alterations can be made to reduce its risk. Improvement of stroke care should be achieved through awareness of public, especially through high-risk group. Henceforth, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of nursing intervention on improving awareness of high-risk people about stroke prevention. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used to carry out this study, where a purposive sample of 80 adult patients at high risk for stroke were enrolled while they were attending the out-patient clinics of Zagazig University Hospitals for follow-up treatment;they were divided into two groups: case (40 patients) and control (40 patients). An interview questionnaire was used to assess patients’ knowledge regarding warning signs, risk factors, and immediate treatment;attitude;and their practice for prevention for stroke at pretest and posttest. Results: The study revealed the poor level of knowledge, bad level of preventive behavior, and negative attitude regarding stroke prevention at pre-intervention. However, after intervention, the high-risk people had fair level of knowledge with moderate practice for stroke prevention and positive attitude, with statistically significant difference between pre-post intervention and between the case and control groups. Conclusions: The study revealed that the nursing intervention seemed to change the knowledge, practice, and attitude of subjects regarding stroke prevention. This, in turn, implies that awareness of prevention of stroke and high-risk factor control could be important to reduce the burden of stroke in Egypt. Thus, further research on a larger scale is required to improve population knowledge and behavior for stroke prevention and control.

Objective: To study the effect of adding different concentrations of soybean lecithin in Tris based extender and to compare the results of Tris soybean lecithin extender with two commercial diluents (egg yolk-based: BullXcell and plant-based: OptiXcell) for Damascus goat sperm cryopreservation. Methods: The ejaculates from 4 mature male Damascus goats were obtained by using an artificial vagina. Semen samples were pooled and diluted in Tris extender supplemented with soybean lecithin at different concentrations of 1.5%, 3.0%, 6.0% and 10.0% to get better concentration to be used for further experiments, with a final concentration of 240×106 spermatozoa/mL. Semen samples were packed in straws (0.25 mL), frozen by using an automated system and stored in liquid nitrogen at -196 ℃ for 48 h. After thawing (37 ℃/30 s), the samples were evaluated for sperm quality parameters, including sperm motility, membrane integrity and acrosome integrity. Malondialdehyde concentration was estimated as a marker for lipid peroxidation. Based on the previous investigations, only Tris extender supplemented with 3.0% soybean lecithin (based on its positive results) was used versus BullXcell and OptiXcell for sperm ultrastructure evaluation and artificial insemination by using electron microscope and artificial insemination of the synchronized does. Results: There was no significant difference between Tris-soybean lecithin at 3.0% and BullXcell/OptiXcell diluents in post-thaw sperm parameters and fertility following artificial insemination;meanwhile, the other concentrations of soybean lecithin (1.5%, 6.0% and 10%) showed lower sperm parameters following cryopreservation. Conclusions: Using of Tris-soybean lecithin based extender at the level of 3.0% can be an appropriate alternative to either BullXcell or OptiXcell for Damascus goat sperm cryopreservation.

Populus alba is a large woody deciduous *** plant has been introduced to shooting,then multiplication of rooting on Murashige and Skoog(MS)*** work was designed to estimate the effect of two factors(low levels of 1-Naphthaleneacetic acid NAA and sucrose)on *** response resulting in 6 treatments compared to the control,with twelve measured *** was a significant difference in some measurements in morphology,like plantlets fresh-weight,shoot-,root-length,and leaf *** the physiological measurements,there were significant differences in all the measured *** low concentrations of sucrose and media composition/power(MS grams/L)led to starvation in plants;however,these conditions led to enhancement in some morphological and physiological parameters to overcome the starvation effect,compared to the *** RAPD-PCR molecular marker(four decamers)was used to evaluate the new individuals’genetic variation(instability),resulting in a total polymorphism percentage of 50.83%.It was formerly known that the plantlets were identical to each other and to the mother *** this study,however,the use of distinct media power,hormonal and sucrose levels resulted in molecular variation reflected in ***’s morphological and physiological responses.

Image segmentation is crucial for various research areas. Manycomputer vision applications depend on segmenting images to understandthe scene, such as autonomous driving, surveillance systems, robotics, andmedical imaging. With the recent advances in deep learning (DL) and itsconfounding results in image segmentation, more attention has been drawnto its use in medical image segmentation. This article introduces a surveyof the state-of-the-art deep convolution neural network (CNN) models andmechanisms utilized in image segmentation. First, segmentation models arecategorized based on their model architecture and primary working ***, CNN categories are described, and various models are discussed withineach category. Compared with other existing surveys, several applicationswith multiple architectural adaptations are discussed within each category.A comparative summary is included to give the reader insights into utilizedarchitectures in different applications and datasets. This study focuses onmedical image segmentation applications, where the most widely used architecturesare illustrated, and other promising models are suggested that haveproven their success in different domains. Finally, the present work discussescurrent limitations and solutions along with future trends in the field.

Despite a significant number of studies on the reproductive characteristics of small mammals,very little of this work has been conducted on species in ***,the Egyptian greater gerbil(Gerbillus pyramidum Saint-Hilaire,1825)and Anderson’s lesser Egyptian gerbil(Gerbillus andersoni De Winton,1902)in northeastern Egypt were *** behavior in these species was synchronized with rainfall in the winter and spring *** however,the removal of individual gerbils throughout the course of study resulted in an extension of reproductive activity into the dry summer and autumn months in the latter part of the *** results are discussed in the context of density-dependent reproductive behavior in small mammals.

Using random-parameter and fixed-parameter ordered models to explore temporal stability in factors affecting drivers' injury severity in single-vehicle collisions

Understanding the temporal stability in the factors influencing drivers' injury severity in single-vehicle collisions would help evaluating the effectiveness of implementing different safety treatments so that researchers could understand whether any safety improvements,observed after applying a certain safety treatment, are attributed to the specific treatment or simply attributed to the temporal instability of the factors being addressed. This study investigates the temporal stability of the factors affecting drivers' injury severity in singlevehicle collisions involving light-duty vehicles. The study is based on utilizing ordinal regression modeling to analyze the severity of drivers' injuries in all police-reported lightduty single-vehicle collisions that occurred in North Carolina from January 1, 2007, to December 31, 2013. A separate regression model was estimated for each year so that statistical significance of each risk factor may be compared over the years. The study also estimated random-parameter(mixed) ordered logit models to explore the heterogeneity in data. The most significant factor that was found to increase the severity of drivers' injuries in light-duty single-vehicle collisions is driving under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs. Other significant factors, in decreasing order in terms of their significance, include driving on a highway curve, exceeding speed limit, lighting conditions, the age of the driver, and the age of the vehicle. In contrast, there were six factors that were found to be significant in only some years and not in all years. These six temporally unstable factors include the use of seatbelt, driver's gender, rural highways, undivided highways, the type of the light-duty vehicle, and weather and road surface conditions. These same factors were found by other previous research studies to be significant and stable predictors of drivers' injury severity in single-vehicle collisions.

Recently,nano-systems based on molecular communications via diffusion(MCvD)have been implemented in a variety of nanomedical applications,most notably in targeted drug delivery system(TDDS)***,because the MCvD is unreliable and there exists molecular noise and inter symbol interference(ISI),cooperative nano-relays can acquire the reliability for drug delivery to targeted diseased cells,especially if the separation distance between the nano transmitter and nano receiver is *** this work,we propose an approach for optimizing the performance of the nano system using cooperative molecular communications with a nano relay scheme,while accounting for blood flow effects in terms of drift *** fractions of the molecular drug that should be allocated to the nano transmitter and nano relay positioning are computed using a collaborative optimization problem solved by theModified Central Force Optimization(MCFO)*** the previous work,the probability of bit error is expressed in a closed-form *** is used as an objective function to determine the optimal velocity of the drug molecules and the detection threshold at the nano *** simulation results show that the probability of bit error can be dramatically reduced by optimizing the drift velocity,detection threshold,location of the nano-relay in the proposed nano system,and molecular drug budget.
