a.cidents involving industria. ra.iogra.hy a.e the most frequent ca.se of severe or fa.a. overexposure to workers a.d the public. On Ma. 5, 2000, a.ra.ia.ion a.cident ha.pened a. a.construction site in a.ga.ma.ra.iogra.hy pra.tice a. the villa.e of Meet Ha.fa.Egypt. The a.cident wa. a.severe overdose of non-ra.ia.ion workers due to externa. exposure of Ir-192. This pa.er provides a.methodology for ca.cula.ing doses a.d dose ra.es from the most commonly used industria. γ-sources: 192Ir, 60Co, 134Cs, 137Cs a.d 131I. For this purpose, MCNP computer code ba.ed on Monte Ca.lo technique is used. The a.plied method helps firstly in studying a.d a.a.yzing the doses from the a.ove mentioned sources. Secondly, it provides a.lea. conta.ner design in a.tria. to reduce the dose ra.e within the permissible. Computer models were used to simula.e the 192Ir Meet Ha.fa.a.cident. To verify these models, the ca.cula.ed doses were compa.ed with a.well-known empirica. formula.to convert source a.tivity into dose ra.e a.d then the models were a.plied a. different dista.ces to a.a.yze the fa.tors tha. a.fect the deposited dose in the huma. body to find out the dose received by the victims.

a.M： To eva.ua.e the long-term results a.d complica.ions of a.med gla.coma.va.ve （a.V） impla.ta.ion in a.cohort of Egyptia. pa.ients. METHODS： a.retrospective study of 124 eyes of 99 pa.ients with refra.tory gla.coma.who underwent a.V impla.ta.ion a.d ha. a.minimum follow-up of 5y wa. performed. a.l pa.ients underwent complete ophtha.mic exa.ina.ion a.d intra.cula. pressure （lOP） mea.urement before surgery a.d a. ld, weekly for the 1st month, 3, 6mo, a.d ly a.ter surgery a.d yea.ly a.terwa.d for 5y. lOP wa. mea.ured by Goldma.n a.pla.a.ion tonometry a.d/or Tono-Pen. Complica.ions a.d the number of a.ti-gla.coma.medica.ions needed were recorded. Success wa. defined a. lOP less tha. 21 mm Hg with or without a.ti-gla.coma.medica.ion a.d without a.ditiona. gla.coma.surgery. RESULTS： Mea. a.e wa. 23.1±19.9y. a.l eyes ha. a. lea.t one prior gla.coma.surgery, lOP wa. reduced from a.mea. of 37.2±6.8 to 19.2±5.2 mm Hg a.ter 5y follow-up with a.reduced number of medica.ions from 2.64±0.59 to 1.81±0.4. Complete a.d qua.ified success ra.es were 31.5% a.d 46.0% respectively a. the end of follow-up. The most common complica.ions were enca.sula.ed cyst forma.ion in 51 eyes （41.1%）, complica.ed ca.a.a.t in 9 eyes （7.25%）, recessed tube in 8 eyes （6.45%）, tube exposure in 6 eyes （4.8%） a.d cornea. touch in 6 eyes （4.8%）. Other complica.ions included extruded a.V, endophtha.mitis a.d persistent hypotony. Ea.h of them wa. recorded in only 2 eyes （1.6%）. ~ CONCLUSION： a.though refra.tory gla.coma.is a.difficult problem to ma.a.e, a.V is effective a.d rela.ively sa.e procedure in trea.ing refra.tory gla.coma.in Egyptia. pa.ients with long-term follow-up. Enca.sula.ed cyst forma.ion wa. the most common complica.ion, which limits successful lOP control a.ter a.V impla.ta.ion. However, effective complica.ions ma.a.ement ca. improve the ra.e of success.

This pa.erstudiesthe effect of symmetry process on the compression pa.a.eters of thefra.ta. ima.e compression technique proposed by *** kinds of tests ha.e been conducted. The first a.l kind of the symmetry opera.ions [0-7] were ta.en;while the second tests were concentra.ed on studying the effect of the following pa.a.eters Block Size, Step Size, Doma.n Size on the proba.ility distribution of symmetry opera.ion. The results show tha. the higher va.ue of PSNR a.d the lower va.ue of ET occur a.evensymmetry opera.ion only, but compression ra.io is not a.fected with symmetry process. a.so the occurrence proba.ility of even symmetry is more tha. odd symmetry for a.l compression pa.a.eters. This beha.iour ca. be utilized to reducethe encoding time to 50% with preserving PSNR.

In this study, the fa.rica.ion a.d cha.a.teriza.ion of ca.a.itive humidity sensors using coba.t-phtha.ocya.ine （CoPc） a. the a.tive ma.eria. were presented. Thin films of CoPc were deposited by drop ca.ting on gla.s substra.es with pre-deposited a.uminum electrodes to form a./CoPc/a. surfa.e-type humidity sensors. The effect of humidity on the electrica. properties of the CoPc film wa. investiga.ed by mea.uring ca.a.ita.ce a.d resista.ce of the sa.ples a. four different frequencies of the a.plied volta.e. It wa. observed tha. the ca.a.ita.ce of the sensor increa.ed while the resista.ce decrea.ed with ra.sing the rela.ive humidity. It wa. a.so found tha. the va.ues of ca.a.ita.ce a.d resista.ce decrea.ed with increa.ing frequency. The optica. a.sorption spectra.a.d optica. ba.d ga. energy of CoPc films were mea.ured. The structure of CoPc powder a.d thin films ha. been studied by X-ra. diffra.tion （XRD）, sca.ning electron microscopy （SEM）, a.d a.omic force microscopy （a.M）. Results of XRD studies show tha. the film structure is polycrysta.line with the monoclinic structure while thin films ha.e a.pea. for a.nea.ing tempera.ures with （100） orienta.ion. a.so, the surfa.e morphology （gra.n size a.d roughness） for CoPc films ha.e been studied by a.M.

It ha. been hypothesized tha. the a.dition of systemic dose sequentia. chemothera.y to concurrent chemora.iothera.y, a. induction or a. consolida.ion, might further improve surviva. ra.es. So we sought to eva.ua.e the sa.ety a.d effica.y of induction pa.lita.el a.d ca.bopla.in followed by weekly pa.lita.el a.d ca.bopla.in with concurrent ra.iothera.y in inopera.le sta.e III non-sma.l cell lung ca.cer （NSCLC）. Methods： Fifty-six pa.ients with sta.e III inopera.le NSCLC received induction chemothera.y with 2 cycles of pa.lita.el 200 mg/m2 a.d ca.bopla.in a.C-6 every 3 weeks then pa.ients were a.signed to concurrent chemora.iothera.y with pa.lita.el 45 mg/m2 a.d ca.bopla.in a.C-2 weekly a.ong with concurrent ra.iothera.y a. dose of 60 Gy （1.8 Gy/d x 5 d/week）. Results： Media. a.e of the 56 eligible pa.ients wa. 61 yea.s, most of them were ma.es （87.5%）. Squa.ous cell ca.cinoma.wa. the most common pa.hologica. type （55.4%） a.d 85.7% ha. a.performa.ce sta.us of 1. The ma.ority of pa.ients were presented with sta.e IIIB （62.5%）. Neutropenia.wa. the most common toxicity during induction thera.y （12.5% expressed gra.e 3） wherea. esopha.itis wa. the most common non hema.ologic a.verse rea.tion during concurrent chemora.iothera.y （14.3% of gra.e 3）. The overa.l response ra.e wa. 71.6% with complete response in 19.6%. a.ter media. follow up of 20 months, the media. surviva. time wa. 13 months （95% CI： 10.917-15.083） a.d 1 yea. overa.l surviva. ra.e wa. 53.6%. Conclusion： This regimen ha. demonstra.ed a. a.cepta.le toxicity profile a.d encoura.ing response to trea.ment. Eva.ua.ion of this regimen in la.ger number a.d a.pha.e III tria. a.e recommended.

Ba.kground To determine the incidence a.d risk fa.tors of post-photothera.y rebound hyperbilirubinemia.beca.se da.a.a.out bilirubin rebound in neona.es a.e la.king a.d few studies ha.e concerned this condition. Methods a.prospective observa.iona. study wa. conducted on 500 neona.es with indirect hyperbilirubinemia.who were trea.ed a.cording to sta.da.d guidelines. Tota. serum bilirubin (TSB) wa. mea.ured a. 24–36 h a.ter photothera.y;significa.t bilirubin rebound (SBR) is considered a. increa.ing TSB tha. needs reinstitution of photothera.y. Results a.tota. of 124 (24.9%) neona.es developed SBR with TSB increa.ed by 3.4 (2.4–11.2) mg/dL a.ter stopping pho-tothera.y. Multiple logistic regression model revea.ed the following significa.t risk fa.tors for rebound: low birth weight (B = 1.3,P a.y (B = 0.83, P= 0.03, OR 2.3), hemolysis (B = 1.2,P a.ge bilirubin level (B = 0.3,P = 0.001, OR 1.3), a.d short dura.ion of conventiona. photothera.y (B = ? 1.2,P a.es with hemolysis, low birth weight, suspected sepsis, short dura.ion of conventiona. photothera.y, exposure to intensive photothera.y, a.d rela.ively high discha.ge TSB. These risk fa.tors should be ta.en into a.count when pla.ning post-photothera.y follow-up.
