Photodegra.a.ion of Bina.y a.o Dyes Using Core-Shell Fe3O4/SiO2/TiO2Na.ospheres

Photodegra.a.ion ha. emerged a. a. environmenta.ly friendly method of decomposing ha.mful dyes in wa.tewa.er. In this study, core-shell Fe3O4/SiO2/ TiO2 na.ospheres with ma.netic cores were obta.ned from synthesised ma.netic Fe3O4 na.opa.ticles through the precipita.ion method, the surfa.e of the ma.netic Fe3O4 na.opa.ticles wa. coa.ed with a.silica.(SiO2) la.er by hydrolysis of tetra.ethoxysila.e (TMOS) a. a.silica.source, a.d fina.ly, Fe3O4/SiO2 na.ospheres were coa.ed with tita.ium (TiO2) la.er using tetra.utyltita.a.e (TBT) a. a.precursor through the sol-gel process. The morphology a.d structure of the prepa.ed ma.eria.s were cha.a.terised by X-ra. diffra.tion (XRD) a.a.ysis, sca.ning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ra. energy dispersive spectrometry (EDa.), Fourier tra.sform infra.ed spectroscopy (FT-IR), a.d a.omic force microscopy (a.M). The photoca.a.ytic a.tivities of the prepa.ed core-shell na.ospheres were studied using bina.y a.o dyes, na.ely methyl ora.ge (a.ionic dye, MO) a.d methylene blue (ca.ionic dye, MB) in a.ueous solution under UV light irra.ia.ion (365 nm), a.d UV-Vis spectrophotometer wa. utilised to monitor the a.ount of ea.h dye in the mixture. It wa. found tha. 90.2% a.d 100% of bina.y MO a.d MB were removed for 5 h, respectively. The results revea.ed tha. the efficiency of the photoca.a.ytic degra.a.ion of the core-shell na.ospheres wa. not degrea.ed a.ter five runs tha. ca. be used a. recycla.le photoca.a.ysts. The results show tha. the performa.ce of the prepa.ed core-shell na.ospheres wa. better tha. tha. of commercia. TiO2 na.opa.ticles. Moreover, the ma.netic sepa.a.ion properties of the core-shell Fe3O4/SiO2/TiO2 na.ospheres ca. ena.le the prepa.ed ma.eria.s to ha.e wider a.plica.ion prospects.

Preventive effects of ca.na.is on neurotoxic a.d hepa.otoxic a.tivities of ma.a.hion in ra.

Objective: To investiga.e the effect of Ca.na.is sa.iva.extra.t on the development of neuroa.d hepa.o-toxicity ca.sed by ma.a.hion injection in ra.s. Methods: The extra.t of Ca.na.is sa.iva.wa. obta.ned from the pla.t resin by chloroform trea.ment. Δ~9-Tetra.ydroca.na.inol content of the extra.t(20%) wa. qua.tified using ga. chroma.ogra.hy–ma.s spectrometry. The doses of ca.na.is extra.t were expressed a. Δ~9-tetra.ydroca.na.inol content of 10 or 20 mg/kg. Ma.a.hion(150 mg/kg) wa. intra.eritonea.ly a.ministered followed a.ter 30 min by the ca.na.is extra.t(10 or 20 mg/kg, subcuta.eously). Ra.s were eutha.ized 4 h la.er. Ma.ondia.dehyde(MDa., reduced gluta.hione(GSH), nitric oxide a.d pa.a.xona.e-1(PON-1) a.tivity were determined in bra.n a.d liver. Bra.n 5-lipoxygena.e a.d butyrylcholinestera.e(BChE) a.tivity were mea.ured a. well. Histopa.hologica. exa.ina.ion of bra.n a.d liver tissue wa. a.so performed. Results: Compa.ed to controls, ma.a.hion resulted in increa.ed oxida.ive stress in bra.n a.d liver. MDa.a.d nitric oxide concentra.ions were significa.tly increa.ed(Pa.d GSH significa.tly decrea.ed with respect to control levels(Pa.a.hion a.so significa.tly inhibited PON-1 a.d BChE a.tivities but ha. no effect on bra.n 5-lipoxygena.e. Bra.n MDa.concentra.ions were not a.tered by ca.na.is trea.ment. Ca.na.is a. 20 mg/kg, however, ca.sed significa.t increa.e in nitric oxide a.d restored the GSH a.d PON-1 a.tivity. Bra.n BChE a.tivity significa.tly decrea.ed by 26.1%(Pa.ter trea.ment with 10 mg/kg ca.na.is. Ca.na.is showed no effect on bra.n 5-lipoxygena.e. On the other ha.d, ra.s trea.ed with ca.na.is exhibited significa.tly higher levels of liver MDa. nitric oxide a.d PON-1 a.tivity compa.ed with the ma.a.hion control group. Ra.s trea.ed with only ma.a.hion exhibited spongiform cha.ges, neurona. da.a.e in the cerebra. cortex a.d degenera.ion of some Purkinje cells in the cerebellum. Eco-Friendly Production of Silver Na.opa.ticles from Peel of Ta.gerine for Degra.a.ion of Dye

Green chemistry methods for production of na.opa.ticles ha.e ma.y a.va.ta.es, such a. ea.e of use, which ma.es the methods desira.le a.d economica.ly via.le. The a.m of the present work wa. to green synthesise silver na.opa.ticles (SNPs) using a.ueous ta.gerine peel extra.t in different ra.ios (2:1, 1:1, 1:2). The formed SNPs were cha.a.terised using ultra.iolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry, a.d tra.smission electron microscopy (TEM). The UV-Vis spectra.showed tha. the highest a.sorba.ce wa. observed when the ra.io of peel ta.gerine extra.t to silver nitra.e solution wa. 1:2. The tra.smission electron microgra.hs showed the forma.ion of poly dispersed na.opa.ticles. It wa. found tha. the a.era.e dia.eter of the na.opa.ticles wa. 30.29 ± 5.1 nm, 16.68 ± 5.7 nm, a.d 25.85 ± 8.4 nm, using a.ta.gerine peel solution a.d silver nitra.e solution ra.io of 2:1, 1:1, a.d 1:2, respectively. The formed SNPs were eva.ua.ed a. ca.a.ysts for methyl ora.ge dye degra.a.ion, a.d the results confirmed tha. SNPs ca. speed up the degra.a.ion of the dye.

Objective: To investiga.e the effect of the prosta.la.din E1 a.a.ogue misoprostol on oxida.ive stress a.d neurodegera.ion ca.sed by subcuta.eous rotenone a.ministra.ion in ra.s. Methods:Rotenone wa. a.ministered in a.dose of 1.5 mg/kg every other da. for 2 weeks. Sta.ting from the 1 st da. of rotenone injection, ra.s were subcuta.eously trea.ed with misoprostol a. doses of10, 100 or 1 000 μg/kg. Ra.s were eva.ua.ed for bra.n lipid peroxida.ion(ma.ondia.dehyde:MDa., reduced gluta.hione(GSH), nitric oxide(NO) levels, a.d pa.a.xona.e-1(PON-1) *** concentra.ions of the a.ti-a.optotic protein B cell/lymphoma.2(Bcl-2) were determined in the stria.um. Histopa.hologic exa.ina.ion a.d the expression of inducible nitric oxide syntha.e(iNOS) in the cerebra. cortex a.d stria.um were a.so performed. Results: Compa.ed with the vehicle-trea.ed group, rotenone ca.sed a.significa.t increa.e in bra.n lipid proxida.ion(MDa.by 61%(Pa.compa.ied by a. increa.e in NO by 73.1%(Pa.d a.decrea.e in GSH concentra.ion by 29.4%(Pa.dition, bra.n PON-1 a.tivity significa.tly decrea.ed by63.0%(Pa.d stria.a. Bcl-2 significa.tly decrea.ed by 27.9%(Pa.ue. Iron (Fe) is a.vita. element for the surviva. a.d prolifera.ion of a.l pla.ts;therefore, Fe-biofortifica.ion by the a.plica.ion of chemica. a.d orga.ic fertilizers is being a. a. effective a.proa.h to fight hidden hunger reta.ds the growth a.d development of crop pla.ts. Two experiments were ca.ried out to investiga.e the effect of pota.sium a.d exogenous orga.ic a.ids on iron upta.e by two different pla.ts: one is monocotyledon, maize (Zea mays L.) a.d the second is dicotolydon pea.(a.>Pisum sativum L.) grown under controlled conditions. The seedlings were grown in sand culture in a greenhouse experiment and irrigated with one-tenth strength modified nutrient solution of Hoagland and Arnon as a base solution (pH 7.5), containing different iron treatments (0, 1, and 5 ppm as FeSO4·7H2O) combined with potassium nutrition (0, 5, 10, and 50 ppm as K2SO4). After 30 days, the best interaction treatment was selected for further experiment including 5.0 ppm Fe as FeSO4.7H2O and 50 ppm K as K2SO4 in combination with 1 × 10-5 mole/liter of one a.>of a.>the following orga.ic a.ids: Citric a.id, Oxa.ic a.id, Formic a.id, a.etic a.id, Propionic a.id, Ta.ta.ic a.id, Succinic a.id, Fuma.ic a.id, Ma.ic a.id, Gluta.ic a.id, besides the free orga.ic a.id nutrient solution a. a.control. The resulting condyles were spa.ia.ly ma.ched by using a. a.a.omica. la.dma.k-ba.ed registra.ion procedure. a.sta.da.dized sphere wa. crea.ed a.ound ea.h condyle, a.d the condyla. bone volume within this selected region of interest wa. a.toma.ica.ly ca.cula.ed. To investiga.e the reproducibility of the method, inter- a.d intra.observer relia.ility wa. ca.cula.ed for a.sessments ma.e by two experienced ra.iologists twice five months a.a.t in a.set of ten ra.domly selected pa.ients. To test the a.cura.y of the bone segmenta.ion, the inner a.d outer bone structures of one dry ma.dible, sca.ned a.cording to the clinica. set-up, were compa.ed with the gold sta.da.d, micro-CT. Thirty-eight condyles showed a.significa.t （P〈O.05） mea. bone volume decrea.e of 26.4%_ 11.4% （502.9 mm3＋ 268.1 mm3）. No significa.t effects of side, sex or a.e were found. Good to excellent （ICC〉 0.6） intra. a.d inter-observer relia.ility wa. observed for both MSCT a.d CBCT. Moreover, the bone segmenta.ion a.cura.y wa. less tha. one voxel （0.4 mm） for MSCT （0.3 mm __. 0.2 mm） a.d CBCT （0.4 mm _ 0.3 mm）, thus indica.ing the clinica. potentia. of this method for objective follow-up in pa.hologica. condyla. resorption.
