Numerical analysis of frictional behavior of dense gas-solid systems

Dense gas-solid flows show significantly higher stresses compared with dilute flows, mainly attributable to particle-particle friction in dense particle flows. Several models developed have considered particle-particle friction; however, they generally underestimate its effect in dense regions of the gas-solid system, leading to unrealistic predictions in their flow patterns. Recently, several attempts have been made to formulate such flows and the impact of particle-particle friction on predicting flow patterns based on modified frictional viscosity models by including effects of bulk density changes on frictional pressure of the solid phase. The solid-wall boundary is also expected to have considerable effect on friction because particulate phases generally slip over the solid surface that directly affects particle-particle frictional forces. Polydispersity of the solid phase also leads to higher friction between particles as more particles have sustained contact in polydispersed systems. Their effects were investi- gated by performing CFD simulations of particle settlement to calculate the slope angle of resting material of non-cohesive particles as they settle on a solid surface. This slope angle is directly affected by frictional forces and may be a reasonably good measure of frictional forces between particles. The calculated slope angle, as a measure of frictional forces inside the system are compared with experimental values of this slope angle as well as simulation results from the literature.

Acute variceal bleeding in patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension(PHT) is the most serious emergency complication among those patients and could have catastrophic outcomes if not timely managed. Early screening by esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy(EGD) for the presence of esophageal varices(EVs) is currently recommended by the practice guidelines for all cirrhotic patients. Meanwhile, EGD is not readily accepted or preferred by many patients. The literature is rich in studies to investigate and validate non-invasive markers of EVs prediction aiming at reducing the unneeded endoscopic procedures. Gallbladder(GB) wall thickness(GBWT) measurement has been found promising in many published research articles. We aim to highlight the validity of sonographic GBWT measurement in the prediction of EVs based on the available evidence. We searched databases including Cochrane library, Pub Med, Web of Science and many others for relevant articles. GBWT is associated with the presence of EVs in cirrhotic patients with PHT of different etiologies. The cut-off of GBWT that can predict the presence of EVs varied in the literature and ranges from 3.1 mm to 4.35 mm with variable sensitivities of 46%-90.9% and lower cutoffs in viral cirrhosis compared to non-viral, however GBWT > 4 mm in many studies is associated with acceptable sensitivity up to 90%. Furthermore, a relation was also noticed with the degree of varices and portal hypertensive *** cirrhotics, GBWT > 3.5 mm predicts the presence of advanced(grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ) EVs with a sensitivity of 45%, the sensitivity increased to 92% when a cut-off ≥ 3.95 mm was used in another cohort. Analysis of these results should carefully be revised in the context of ascites, hypoalbuminemia and other intrinsic GB diseases among cirrhotic patients. The sensitivity for prediction of EVs improved upon combining GBWT measurement with other non-invasive predictors, e.g., platelets/GBWT.

In this current work,aluminum alloy grade 2024 is adopted as a plate material that is used in the rolling process with three different parameters including thickness reduction,forming temperature,and density of lubrication *** experimental procedure of the rolling process is performed using the design of the experiment based on the Taguchi technique(L27),then surface roughness,surface hardness,and surface residual stresses are *** results showed that the lubrication density has a significant impact on the surface roughness which depends on the lubrication properties(mineral oil type,natural fat,and kinematic viscosity)while surface hardness and surface residual stresses were strongly affected by thickness *** the other side,the augment in forming temperature can decrease the quality of the final surface finish and the surface hardness but reduce the induced residual *** best surface finish is obtained based on the optimum condition of the rolling factors are(R%_(3),T_(1),andρ_(3))while the optimum condition of rolling parameters that generate higher hardness and compressive residual stresses are(R%_(3)T_(1)ρ_(1)).

Deep learning is considered one of the most efficient and reliable methods through which the legitimacy of a digital image can be *** the current cyber world where deepfakes have shaken the global community,confirming the legitimacy of a digital image is of great *** the advancements made in deep learning techniques,now we can efficiently train and develop state-of-the-art digital image forensic *** most traditional and widely used method by researchers is convolution neural networks(CNN)for verification of image authenticity but it consumes a considerable number of resources and requires a large dataset for ***,in this study,a transfer learning based deep learning technique for image forgery detection is *** proposed methodology consists of three modules namely;preprocessing module,convolutional module,and the classification *** using our proposed technique,the training time is drastically reduced by utilizing the pre-trained *** performance of the proposed technique is evaluated by using benchmark datasets,i.e.,BOW and BOSSBase that detect five forensic types which include JPEG compression,contrast enhancement(CE),median filtering(MF),additive Gaussian noise,and *** evaluated the performance of our proposed technique by conducting various experiments and case scenarios and achieved an accuracy of 99.92%.The results show the superiority of the proposed system.

The interaction mechanism of mucin and α-amylase with virgin olive oil (VOO) polyphenols (oleuropein (OL),tyrosol (TY),hydroxytyrosol (HT)) was analyzed by fluorescence,ultraviolet (UV) absorption,attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR),circular dichroic (CD) spectroscopy and molecular docking.A total of 17 polyphenols have been identified in the selected VOO,and the TY,HT and OL were the main *** quenching mechanism between mucin/α-amylase and three VOO polyphenols was static,mainly through van der Waals forces and hydrogen *** results of UV absorption,ATR-FTIR,and CD spectroscopy revealed that the conformation of mucin changed after combining with the three polyphenols,while that of the α-amylase changed *** docking predicted the interaction sites of the three polyphenols with human salivary mucin and α-*** present study could provide the theoretical foundation for further research on the interaction between human salivary protein and phenolic compounds in VOO.

This study examines the large amount of agricultural waste produced in Egypt between 2010 and 2019 by analysing data from various departments within the Agriculture *** also provides a comprehensive database on the biomass available from agricultural waste in Egypt and its potential applications for producing power,heat and chemical *** biomass-pyrolysis systems powered by solar energy are used,research demonstrates the potential to convert agricultural waste into a variety of chemical *** approach utilizes solar energy,a clean and renewable source,and has wide-ranging industrial and power generation *** Egypt’s reliance on agriculture,the country currently utilizes little biomass for energy production and has not previously used it as a source for creating chemical products,which could potentially save on the imported oil used in these *** findings of the study are graphically presented using histograms,pie charts,*** overall production of residues reached the 30-Mt level in *** it contains the most rice-cultivated land,Dakahlia(Lower Egypt region)produces the highest percentage of the total residue(37.17%).Qena governorate(Upper Egypt region)produces 1.14 metric tons of residues,with sugarcane accounting for 20.3%of the total.
