Biological silicon nanoparticles improve Phaseolus vulgaris L. yield and minimize its contaminant contents on a heavy metals-contaminated saline soil

The synthesis of biological silicon nano-particles(Bio-si-nPs)is an eco-friendly and lowcost *** is no study focusing on the effect of Bio-si-nPs on the plants grown on saline soil contaminated with heavy *** this study,an attempt was made to synthesis Bio-si-nPs using potassium silica florid substrate,and the identified Aspergillus tubingensis AM11 isolate that separated from distribution systems of the potable water.A twoyear field trial was conducted to compare the protective effects of Bio-si-nPs(2.5 and 5.0 mmol/L)and potassium silicate(10 mmol/L)as a foliar spray on the antioxidant defense system,physio-biochemical components,and the contaminants contents of Phaseolus vulgaris *** on saline soil contaminated with heavy *** findings showed that all treatments of Bio-si-nPs and potassium silicate significantly improved plant growth and production,chlorophylls,carotenoids,transpiration rate,net photosynthetic rate,stomatal conductance,membrane stability index,relative water content,free proline,total soluble sugars,n,P,K,Ca2+,K+/na+,and the activities of peroxidase,catalase,ascorbic peroxidase and superoxide oxide *** of Bio-si-nPs and potassium silicate significantly decreased electrolyte leakage,malondialdehyde,H2 O2,O2·-,na+,Pb,Cd,and ni in leaves and pods of Phaseolus vulgaris *** to ***-si-nPs were more effective compared to potassium *** of Bio-si-nPs at the rate of 5 mmol/L was the recommended treatment to enhance the performance and reduce heavy metals content on plants grown on contaminated saline soils.

Thermally Radiative Rotating Magneto-nanofluid Flow over an Exponential sheet with Heat Generation and Viscous Dissipation:A Comparative study

This article examines a mathematical model to analyze the rotating flow of three-dimensional water based nanofluid over a convectively heated exponentially stretching sheet in the presence of transverse magnetic field with additional effects of thermal radiation,Joule heating and viscous ***(Ag),copper(Cu),copper oxide(Cu O),aluminum oxide(Al_2O_3)and titanium dioxide(Ti O_2)have been taken under consideration as the nanoparticles and water(H_2O)as the base *** suitable similarity transformations,the governing partial differential equations(PDEs)of the modeled problem are transformed to the ordinary differential equations(ODEs).These ODEs are then solved numerically by applying the shooting *** the particular situation,the results are compared with the available *** effects of different nanoparticles on the temperature distribution are also discussed graphically and *** is witnessed that the skin friction coefficient is maximum for silver based ***,the velocity profile is found to diminish for the increasing values of the magnetic parameter.

Recurrence of inflammatory pseudotumor in the distal bile duct: Lessons learned from a single case and reported cases

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors （IMTs） or inflammatory pseudotumors （IPs） have been extensively discussed in the literature. They are usually found in the lung and upper respiratory tract. However, reporting of cases involving the biliopancreatic region has increased over recent years. Immunohistochemical study of these lesions limited to the pancreatic head or distal bile duct seems to be compatible with those observed in a new entity called autoimmune pancreatitis, but usually intense fibrotic reaction （zonation） predominates producing a mass. When this condition is limited to the pancreatic head, the common bile duct might be involved by the inflammatory process and jaundice may occur often resembling adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. We have previously reported a case of IMT arising from the bile duct associated with autoimmune pancreatitis which is an extremely rare entity. Four years after Kaush-Whipple resection, radiological examination on routine follow-up revealed a tumor mass, suggesting local recurrence. Ultrasound-guided FnA confirmed our suspicious diagnosis. This present case, as others, suggests that persistent follow-up is necessary in order to prevent irreversible liver damage at this specific location.

V_2O_5·nH_2O nanosheets and multi-walled carbon nanotube composite as a negative electrode for sodium-ion batteries

Two dimensional(2D) transition metal oxides and chalcogenides dem.nstrate a promising performance in sodium-ion batteries(sIBs) application. In this study, we investigated the use of a composite of freeze dried V_2O_5·nH_2O nanosheets and multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCnT) as a negative electrode material for sIBs. Cyclic voltammetry(CV) results indicated that a reversible sodium-ion insertion/deinsertion into the composite electrode can be obtained in the potential window of 0.1–2.5 V vs. na^+/na. The composite electrodes delivered sodium storage capacities of 140 and 45 m Ah g^(-1) under applied current densities of 20 and 100 m A g^(-1), respectively. The pause test during constant current measurem.nt showed a raise in the open circuit potential(OCP) of about 0.46 V, and a charge capacity loss of ～10%. These values are comparable with those reported for hard carbon electrodes. For comparison, electrodes of freeze dried V_2O_5·nH_2O nanosheets were prepared and tested for sIBs application. The results showed that the MWCnT plays a significant role in the electrochemical performance of the composite material.

Influence of biomass density and food to microorganisms ratio on the mixed culture type I methanotrophs enriched from activated sludge

Methanotrophic based process can be the remedy to offset the wastewater treatment facilities increasing energy requirem.nts due to methanotroph＇s unique ability to integrate methane assimilation with multiple biotechnological applications like biological nitrogen removal and methanol production. Regardless of the methanotrophic process end product, the challenge to maintain stable microbial growth in the methanotrophs cultivation bioreactor at higher cell densities is one of the major obstacles facing the process upscaling. Therefore, a series of consecutive batch tests were performed to attentively investigate the biomass density influence on type I methanotrophs bacterial growth. In addition, food to microorganisms（F/M）, carbon to nitrogen（C/n） and nitrogen to microorganisms（n/M） ratio effect on the microbial activity was studied for the first time. It was clarified that the F/M ratio is the most influencing factor on the microbial growth at higher biomass densities rather than the biomass density increase, whereas C/n and n/M ratio change, while using nitrate as the nitrogen source,does not influence methanotrophs microbial growth. These study results would facilitate the scaling up of methanotrophic based biotechnology by identifying that F/M ratio as the key parameter that influences methanotrophs cultivation at high biomass densities.

Calcium stabilized nitrogen rich sialon ceramics having a general formula of Ca_(x)si_(12-2x)Al_(2x)n_(16) with x value(x is the solubility of cation Ca in α-sialon structure)in the range of 0.2-2.2 for compositions lying along the si_(3)n_(4):1/2Ca_(3)n_(2):3Aln line were synthesized using nano/submicron size starting powder precursors and spark plasma sintering(sPs)*** development of calcium stabilized nitrogen rich sialon ceramics at a significantly low sintering temperature of 1500℃(typically reported a temperature of 1700℃ or greater)remains to be the highlight of the present *** sPs processed sialons were characterized for their microstructure,phase and compositional analysis,and physical and mechanical ***,a correlation was developed between the lattice parameters and the content(x)of the alkaline metal cation in the α-sialon ***-densified single-phase nitrogen rich α-sialon ceramics were achieved in the range of 0.53(3)≤x≤1.27(3).A nitrogen richα-sialon sample possessing a maximum hardness of 22.4 GPa and fracture toughness of 6.1 MPa·m^(1/2) was developed.

Effectiveness of external prestressing in enhancing the non-ductile hanger failure mechanism in reinforced concrete inverted T-beams

Recently,inverted T-beams have been used in reinforced concrete(RC)bridges to support transverse precast *** T-beams,contrary to practice with conventional beams,are loaded on the flanges upper *** loading configuration causes hanger failure due to the generation of vertical tensile stresses near the bottom of the *** key purpose of this study is to investigate the efficiency of vertical external prestressing stainless-steel bars in mitigating non-ductile hanger failure in reinforced concrete inverted *** experimental study on six inverted-T beams,including two un-strengthened specimens,was carried *** study showed that the value of the prestressing level had a considerable impact on the performance of hanger mechanism in relation to crack pattern,ultimate loads,cracking behavior,load-deflection,strains,and *** experimental results indicated that the suggested method for strengthening inverted T-beams had efficacy in reducing the seriousness of the non-ductile hanger failure and resulted in a strength increase of up to 53% when compared to that of the un-strengthened ***,two analytical models for estimating the hanger capacity and the average crack width of the strengthened RC inverted T-beams were *** models that were proposed exhibited a high degree of agreem.nt with the experimental results.
