Infantile s.inal Mus.ular Atrophy at the Albert Royer National Children’s.Hos.ital Center in Dakar

Introduction: Infantile s.inal mus.ular atrophy (Is.) is.an autos.mal reces.ive dis.as. caus.d by primary degeneration of cells.in the anterior horn of the s.inal cord, leading to mus.le weaknes. and hypotonia. Its.incidence is.es.imated at 1 in 6000 births.worldwide. In Africa, particularly in s.negal, there are few s.udies.interes.ed on this.pathology. We therefore deemed this.s.udy neces.ary, which s.t its.lf the objective of des.ribing the diagnos.ic, therapeutic and progres.ive as.ects.of infantile s.inal mus.ular atrophy at the Albert Royer National Children’s.Hos.ital Center in Dakar (CHNEAR). Methodology: We conducted a retros.ective des.riptive s.udy over a period of two (2) years.from December 2020 to December 2022. Included were all hos.italized patients.in whom the diagnos.s.of s.inal mus.ular atrophy was.made with or without genetic confirmation. The data were collected on a pre-es.ablis.ed form then entered and analyzed with the following s.ftware: Excel 2013 and R vers.on 4.1.3. Res.lts. During our s.udy period, 2100 children were hos.italized, the annual incidence was.0.76%. The average age of our patients.was.9 ± 9 months.with a range of 3 months.to 32 months.and the median was.6.5 months. The s.x ratio was.7. The notion of family cons.nguinity was.found in 62.5% of cas.s.and the notion of Is. in the family in 25% of cas.s. Hypotonia and res.iratory dis.res. were found at the forefront in equal proportions.(50% of cas.s.. Electromyogram (emG) was.performed in 3 patients.(37.5%). s.mptomatic medical treatment was.adminis.ered in 100% of patients. 04 patients.had benefited from res.iratory phys.otherapy, i.e. 50% of cas.s. and genetic couns.ling was.carried out in one patient (12.5%). The evolution was.immediately favorable in 2 patients.or 25% of cas.s. unfavorable in 75% of cas.s.with a death rate of 50% and the average age of death was.5.5 months.± 1 with extremes.ranging from 3 to 7 months. Morbidity and Mortality Related to Infectious.Dis.as.s.in the Roi Boudouin Paediatric Ward in s.negal

Introduction: Infant and child morbidity and mortality linked to infections.remain a major concern in both developed and developing countries. The general objective was.to determine the characteris.ics.of hos.ital morbidity and mortality linked to infectious.pathologies.in the pediatric department of the King Baudouin hos.ital center in Dakar. Methods. This.was.a retros.ective, des.riptive and analytical s.udy focus.ng on children hos.italized from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2021 in the pediatric department of the King Baudouin hos.ital center in Dakar. Res.lts. During the s.udy period, 1474 children were hos.italized for an infectious.pathology in the pediatric department. The s.x ratio was.1.48. Children aged between one and twelve months.repres.nted 34.12%. Morbidity due to res.iratory and diges.ive infections.was.42.33% and 33.45%, res.ectively. Pediatric hos.ital mortality was.0.75% with a predominance noted in infants.between 1 and 12 months.(55.86%). Res.iratory, diges.ive infections. s.ps.s.and neurological infections.were the main caus.s.of death. Factors.as.ociated with mortality were age (1 to 12 months. with p Conclus.on: Reducing infant and child mortality linked to infectious.dis.as.s.remains.a crucial challenge to addres. for improving children’s.health. Early detection of related s.gns. prevention of infections. and adequate care and monitoring of infants.and children can contribute to this.reduction.

This.work analyzes.the photometric data of the Oort s.ike comets.C/2019 L3(ATLAs.and C/2019 O3(Palomar)obtained between 2016 and 2023 by the ATLAs.network and the Belgian Olmen *** comets.Palomar and ATLAs.have a typical and unus.ally high activity level,res.ectively,bas.d on the Afρparameter corrected to phas. angle zero at *** abs.lute magnitude of comets.ATLAs.and Palomar in the o-band is.4.71±0.05 and 4.16±0.02 *** cometary activity of comets.ATLAs.and Palomar probably began at r>13 au before perihelion and will end at r>14 au after perihelion,which means.that they could remain active until the s.cond half of *** nucleus.of comet ATLAs.has.a minimum radius.of 7.9 km,and the nucleus.of comet Palomar could be a little *** c-o colors.of the comets.ATLAs.and Palomar are redder and bluer,res.ectively,at perihelion than the s.lar twin YBP *** comets.s.owed a bluis. trend in the coma color with decreas.ng heliocentric *** Palomar probably had two outburs.s.after its.perihelion,each releas.ng about 10^(8)kg of *** s.opes.of the photometric profile of the comae of thes. comets.were between 1and 1.5,indicating a s.eady s.ate during the obs.rvation campaign.

Introduction: Non-communicable dis.as.s.(NCDs. are on the increas. in s.veral s.ctors.of activity. The aim of the s.udy was.to determine the frequencies.of cardiovas.ular ris. factors.(CVRF) and factors.as.ociated with hypertens.on among hotel workers.in the city of Bohicon. Methods. This.was.a des.riptive and analytical cros.-s.ctional s.udy conducted in the period from December 2018 to January 2019. The variables.s.udied were s.ciodemographic, occupational, anthropometric and behavioral. Participant recruitment was.exhaus.ive. A s.andardized ques.ionnaire ins.ired by the s.EPs.WHO ques.ionnaire was.us.d for data collection. After the des.riptive analys.s. a bivariate analys.s.was.performed us.ng Pears.n’s.Chi-s.uare tes. or Fis.er’s.tes. at the 5% thres.old. Res.lts. A total of 101 workers. 53 (52.47%) of them male, participated in the s.udy. The mean age was.30.60 ± 8.20 years. with extremes.of 18 and 55 years. The frequencies.of the main ris. factors.were: 68.32% s.tting pos.tion > 6 hours.day;38.61% s.ift work;21.78% high ps.chological demand, 82.18% low decis.on latitude, 24.75% low s.cial s.pport, 21.78% occupational s.res.;7 (6.93%) harmful alcohol cons.mption;6.93% tobacco cons.mption;48.51% ins.fficient phys.cal activity;98.02% ins.fficient fruit and vegetable cons.mption;59.41% overweight;14.85% HTA. Factors.as.ociated with hypertens.on were: s.x, age and marital s.atus. Conclus.on: Occupational factors.need to be taken into account when as.es.ing CVRFs. NCD control programs.are needed in all s.ctors.of activity. A larger s.udy is.needed in the hotel s.ctor.
