The nucleon excitation spectrum remains poorly known, with the masses, widths, em couplings and even existence of many states not well established. A program of experiments using meson photoproduction off the nucleon is being carried out to improve this situation. A new large acceptance recoil polarimeter has been developed by the Edinburgh group for use in such reactions with the Crystal Ball at mAmI. This work summarizes the procedure used to measure recoil polarization with the new device and presents some preliminary results for the double polarization observable Cx in the reaction γp→pπ, compared to the current partial wave analysis.

Introduction: Posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (PC-BPPV) is considered the mostcommon cause of peripheral vertigo in the emergency department (Ed). Although the canalith repositioning maneuver (CRm) is the standard of care, the most effective method to deliver it in the Ed hasbeen poorly ***: To compare two protocols of the Epley maneuver for the treatment of *** and methods: We prospectively recruited 101 patients with unilateral PC-BPPV on physical examination, randomizing them to either a single Epley maneuver (em) (n ¼ 46) or multiple maneuvers(n ¼ 55) on the same visit. measured outcomes included presence/absence of positional nystagmus,resolution of vertigo, and score on the dizziness handicap inventory (dHI) at follow-up evaluations. ThedHI was stratified into mild ( 30) and moderate-severe (>30).Results: Normalization of the dix-Hallpike maneuver at day 5 was observed in 38% of the single emgroup and 44.4% in the multiple em group (p ¼ 0.62). The dHI showed reduction from 42.2 (Sd 18.4) to31.9 (Sd 23.7) in the single em group and from 43.7 (Sd 22.9) to 33.5 (Sd 21.5) in the multiple em group(p ¼ 0.06). A higher number of patients improved from moderate-severe to mild dHI (p ¼ 0.03) in thesingle em group compared to the multi-em group (p ¼ 0.23).Conclusion: There was no statistically significant difference between performing a single em versusmultiple ems for treatment of PC-BPPV in the emergency department. The single em approach isassociated with shorter physical contact between patients and examiner, which is logically safer in apandemic context.

Liver is unlikely the key organ driving mortality in coronavirus disease 2019(COVId-19)however,liver function tests(LFTs)abnormalities are widely observed mostly in moderate and severe *** to this review,the overall prevalence of abnormal LFTs in COVId-19 patients ranges from 2.5%to 96.8%*** geographical variability in the prevalence of underlying diseases is the determinant for the observed discrepancies between East and *** mechanisms are implicated in COVId-19-induced liver *** them,hypercytokinemia with“bystander hepatitis”,cytokine storm syndrome with subsequent oxidative stress and endotheliopathy,hypercoagulable state and immuno-thromboinflammation are the most determinant mechanisms leading to tissue *** hypoxia may also contribute under specific conditions,while direct hepatocyte injury is an emerging *** for initially observed severe acute respiratory distress syndrome corona virus-2(SARS-CoV-2)tropism for cholangiocytes,more recent cumulative data show SARS-CoV-2 virions within hepatocytes and sinusoidal endothelial cells using electron microscopy(em).The best evidence for hepatocellular invasion by the virus is the identification of replicating SARS-CoV-2 RNA,S protein RNA and viral nucleocapsid protein within hepatocytes using in-situ hybridization and immunostaining with observed intrahepatic presence of SARS-CoV-2 by em and by in-situ *** data mostly derived from imaging findings indicate possible long-term sequelae for the liver months after recovery,suggesting a post-COVId-19 persistent live injury.

The diffusion behavior of Cu and Ni atoms undergoing liquidesolid electromigration（L-S em） was investigated using Cu/Sn/Ni interconnects under a current density of 5.0 103A/cm2 at 250℃. The flowing direction of electrons significantly influences the cross-solder interaction of Cu and Ni atoms, i.e., under downwind diffusion, both Cu and Ni atoms can diffuse to the opposite interfaces; while under upwind diffusion,Cu atoms but not Ni atoms can diffuse to the opposite interface. When electrons flow from the Cu to the Ni, only Cu atoms diffuse to the opposite anode Ni interface, resulting in the transformation of interfacial intermetallic compound（ImC） from Ni3Sn4into（Cu,Ni）6Sn5and further into [（Cu,Ni）6Sn5t Cu6Sn5], while no Ni atoms diffuse to the opposite cathode Cu interface and thus the interfacial Cu6Sn5 *** electrons flow from the Ni to the Cu, both Cu and Ni atoms diffuse to the opposite interfaces,resulting in the interfacial ImC transformation from initial Cu6Sn5into（Cu,Ni）6Sn5and further into[（Cu,Ni）6Sn5t（Ni,Cu）3Sn4] at the anode Cu interface while that from initial Ni3Sn4into（Cu,Ni）6Sn5and further into（Ni,Cu）3Sn4at the cathode Ni interface. It is more damaging with electrons flowing from the Cu to the Ni than the other way.

emeralds-the green colored variety of beryl-occur as gem-quality specimens in over fifty deposits *** digital traceability methods for emerald have limitations,sample-based approaches offer robust alterna-tives,particularly for determining the geographic origin of *** factors make emerald suitable for provenance studies and hence for developing models for origin ***,the diverse elemental chemistry of emerald at minor(d trace levels(mw)exhibits unique inter-element fractionations between global ***,minimally destructive techniques,including laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(LA-ICP-mS),enable measurement of these diagnostic elemental ***,when applied to extensive datasets,machine learning(mL)techniques enable the creation of predictive models and statistical discrimination with adequate characterization of the *** study em-ploys a carefully selected dataset comprising more than 1000 LA-ICP-mS analyses of gem-quality emeralds,enriched with new *** dataset represents the largest available for global emerald *** con-ducted unsupervised exploratory analysis using Principal Component Analysis(PCA).For machine learning-based classification,we employed Support Vector machine Classification(SVm-C),achieving an initial accu-racy rate of 79%.This was enhanced to 96.8%through the use of hierarchical SVm-C with PCA filters as our modeling *** mL models were trained using the concentrations of eight statistically significant ele-ments(Li,V,Cr,Fe,Sc,Ga,Rb,Cs).By leveraging high-quality LA-ICP-mS data and mL techniques,accurate identification of the geographical origin of emerald becomes *** models are important for accurate provenance of emerald,and from a geochemical perspective,for understanding the formation environments of beryl-bearing pegmatites and shales.
