The highly accurate full-potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital method is employed to calculate the structural,electronic and transport properties of HgIn_(2)S_(4) and ZnIn_(2)S_(4).For ZnIn_(2)S_(4),the calculated In–S bond length is in good agreement with the experimental *** moduli results suggest that ZnIn_(2)S_(4) can afford more compressional effects than HgIn_(2)S_(4).The present study confirms that both HgIn_(2)S_(4) and ZnIn_(2)S_(4) are indirect band gap materials with band gap values of 0.705 eV and 1.533 eV *** localized region existing in the most bottom valance band of both materials splits into states by 1 eV energy difference under the spin orbital coupling *** plots of charge density predict that chemical bonding in these compounds is a mixture of ionic and covalent *** mass results reveal that mobility of charge carriers in ZnIn_(2)S_(4) is greater than that in HgIn_(2)S_(4).

The current study describes the application of a new extraction method for efficient uranium adsorption via cost-effective hydrazine-impregnated activated *** experimental parameters such as time, adsorbent weight, temperature(°C), and uranium concentration were thoroughly investigated. The synthesized adsorbent was characterized via X-ray diffraction, Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The results showed86% uranium extraction under optimized conditions(20% P2O5 at 25 °C, 120 min). The obtained findings fit well with thermodynamic and isothermal(Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms) models and pseudo second-order kinetics. In thermodynamic studies, the negative sign of(DG°) specified the spontaneity of process, the negative sign of(DH°) revealed endothermicity, and the positive sign of(DS°) showed high randomness after adsorption.

Structural and optoelectronic properties of pure and Co doped In2O3 are studied by employing the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method,which is known to produce highly accurate *** principles calculations are performed with ordinary generalized gradient approximation(GGA)along with new Hubbard and modified Becke-Johnson exchange(mBJ)potential *** band gap results are obtained for In2O3 with GGA+U and *** the case of mBJ,the band gap values are 3.5 eV and 3.4 eV for rhombohedral and cubic phases,which are in close agreement with the experimental *** of In by Co 25%alters the energy gap and a spin splitting effect is observed in these *** the spin-up state,it remains semiconductor,whereas for the spin-down state it shows semimetallic *** value of static refractive index n(0)is 1.74 for the cubic phase,while in rhombohedral phase the values of n(0)are 1.77 and 1.74 along xx and zz optical axes,*** calculated optical properties conform anisotropy in the rhombohedral phase and these materials can be potential candidates for the optoelectronics applications.

Arsenic(As)is a known carcinogen and naturally occurring semi-metal in soils and in the Earth's *** of soils and water with As poses a serious threat to millions of people worldwide due to its health hazards and toxicological ***,devising novel and efficient methods for remediation of contaminated areas has attracted a great deal of interest across the *** this study,we investigated the usefulness of synthetic birnessite,goethite,hexadecylpyridinium chloride-modified montmorillonite(HDPC-m),hexadecylpyridinium bromide-modified zeolite(HDPB-Z),and lanthanum(La)-doped magnetic biochar produced from eucalyptus bark(La-Euchar)as adsorbents at 10%dosage for As stabilization in a soil spiked with 1000 mg kg^(-1)*** effectiveness of the above adsorbents in As immobilization in soil was assessed using single-step extractions with 2 mol L^(-1)HNO_(3)and deionized water,the simplified bioaccessibility extraction test(SBET)method,and sequential extraction with the modified Community Bureau of Reference(BCR)*** of the adsorbents shifted the exchangeable fraction of As to more recalcitrant fractions and dramatically reduced the exchangeable fraction by 6%-99%and the extractable amounts with HNO_(3),deionized water,and SBET method by 30%-92%,17%-95%,and 12%-90%,respectively,compared to the unamended *** immobilizing effects of adsorbents on As decreased in the sequence of birnessite>La-Euchar>goethite>HDPB-Z>*** exhibited great affinity for As and drastically reduced As extractability by more than 90%in all single *** results revealed that HDPC-m,HDPB-Z,La-Euchar,birnessite,and goethite are promising immobilizing agents for in situ stabilization of As in terrestrial environments.

Sex ratio distortion in the tropical butterfly Acraea encedana is caused by infection with a male-killing bacterium of the genus Wolbachia. Previous research on this species has reported extreme female bias, high bacterial prevalences, and full sex role reversal. In this paper, we provide an assessment for the dynamics of the male-killer, based on a survey for sex ratios and Wolbachia prevalences among wild populations of A. encedana in Uganda. The study reveals that Wolbachia infection showed considerable variation over both spatial and temporal scales.

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV) is probably the most common diagnosis at vertigo *** cycles of several human illnesses could be attributed variously to changes in atmospheric or weather *** this retrospective study,patients with BPPV from January 2010 to December 2012 were studied,and their charts were *** analysis revealed a statistically significant difference in patients’ numbers among different months of the *** there is a significant statistical correlation between the numbers of patients with climatic variations especially the *** present paper discusses the possible explanations for these results which confirms the seasonal variations in BPPV,together with a review of literature to view the possible associations with other disorders that causes such seasonality.

Forest Road Detection Using LiDAR Data

We developed a three-step classification approach for forest road extraction utilizing LiDAR data. The first step employed the IDW method to interpolate LiDAR point data （first and last pulses） to achieve DSm, DTm and DNTm layers （at 1 m resolution）. For this interpolation RmSE was 0.19 m. In the second step, the Support Vector machine （SVm） was employed to classify the LiDAR data into two classes, road and non-road. For this classification, SVm indicated the merged distance layer with intensity data and yielded better identification of the road position. Assessments of the obtained results showed 63% correctness, 75% completeness and 52% quality of classification. In the next step, road edges were defined in the LiDAR-extracted layers, enabling accu- rate digitizing of the centerline location. more than 95% of the Li- DAR-derived road was digitized within 1.3 m to the field surveyed nor- rnal. The proposed approach can provide thorough and accurate road inventory data to support forest management.

Plant-based antimicrobial agents are readily available, cost-effective, and exhibit low toxicity, making them promising alternatives in combatting microbial infections. Among these plants, garlic (Allium sativum) stands out for its traditional medicinal use in effectively combating various microorganisms. In the poultry industry, preventing avian virus and bacterial infections is paramount for chicken husbandry. However, using conventional drugs poses potential risks to human health. Garlic, a widely used Asian plant in traditional medicine for various pathologies, has shown potential as an herbal prophylactic remedy against viral and bacterial infections. Recently, researchers explored garlic and its derivatives as a scientific strategy in veterinary practices for diverse purposes, such as improving poultry production characteristics and acting as antibiotic growth promoters. This comprehensive review delves into garlic and its derivatives as preventive and corrective treatments for viral diseases in laying hens and broilers. The paper highlights their potential effectiveness and safety as a natural means to enhance poultry health and welfare while mitigating the risks associated with conventional drug usage in the food industry.

We report the electronic band structure and optical parameters of X-Phosphides （X=B, AI, Ga, In） by first-principles technique based on a new approximation known as modified Becke-Johnson （roB J）. This potential is considered more accurate in elaborating excited states properties of insulators and semiconductors as compared to LDA and GGA. The present calculated band gaps values of BP, AlP, GaP, and InP are 1.867 eV, 2.268 eV, 2.090 eV, and 1.377 eV respectively, which are in close agreement to the experimental results. The band gap values trend in this study is as： E9 （mBJ-GGA/LDA）〉 E9 （GGA）〉 Eg （LDA）. Optical parametric quantities （dielectric constant, refractive index, reflectivity and optical conductivity） which based on the band structure are aiso presented and discussed. BP, AlP, GaP, and InP have strong absorption in between the energy range 4-9 eV, 4-7 ev, 3-7 eV, and 2-7 eV respectively. Static dielectric constant, static refractive index and coefficient of reflectivity at zero frequency, within mBJ-GGA, are also calculated. BP, AIP, GaP, and InP show significant optical conductivity in the range 5.2-10 eV, 4.3-8 eV, 3.5- 7.2 eV, and 3.2-8 eV respectively. The present study endorses that the said compounds can be used in opto-electronic applications, for different energy ranges.
