Retinitis pigmentosa(RP) is a group of inherited retinal disorders that lead to photoreceptor *** has been reported to be related to oxidative stress,autophagy,and inflammation.(-)-Epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG),the most abundant catechin-based flavonoid in green tea leaves,has significant antioxidant,anti-carcinogenic,antimicrobial,and neuroprotective ***,given its low molecular weight and hydrophilic properties,can cross the blood-retinal barrier and is able to reach different ocular tissues such as the lens,cornea,and *** has been shown to provide retinal protection against ischemia;sodium nitroprusside-,N-methyl-D-aspartate-,lipopolysaccharide-,light-,sodium iodate-,or H2 O2-induced damage and diabetic *** suggests that systemic EGCG administration has the potential to protect against retinal degenerative or neurodegenerative diseases such as *** aim of this work was to investigate whether EGCG can protect against RP progression in the animal P23 H line 1,the model of *** P23 H rats were crossed with pigmented Long Evans rats to produce offspring exhibiting the clinical features of *** P23 H rats were treated via intraperitoneal injection with saline or EGCG at a dose of 25 mg/kg every week from P100 to P160 and then compared to wild-type Long Evans *** treated with EGCG showed better visual and retinal electrical function with increased contrast sensitivity and b-wave values compared with those observed in P23 H rats treated with *** reduced lipid peroxidation and increased total antioxidant capacity and catalase and superoxide dismutase *** differences were observed in visual acuity,nitrate levels,nitrite levels or glutathione S-transferase *** conclusion,EGCG not only reduced the loss of visual function in P23 H rats but also improved the levels of antioxidant enzymes and reduced oxidative *** study was approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee(CE

Covid is giving us many lessons among which one must be to realize that this is the time to act for sustainable future. The smart world around us has made it inevitable to have an alarming situation regarding the uncontrolled growth of waste products such as plastic and electronic wastes. Both are immense threats to the health of human,wildlife and environment, that eventually affect the societal and economic structures as evident from recent Covid-crisis. The proper management of these wastes and innovating ideas for new sustainable technologies are the need of the hour. Circular economy act with green technology(green economy) is the way to tackle this challenge. Current perspective presents the overview of the scenario regarding these burgeoning issues and demonstrates some measures that are taken or being considered to depend on to come out of them.

Production of pectic extracts from sugar beet pulp with antiproliferative activity on a breast cancer cell line

In the last years, sugar beet pectins have been the subject of several investigations involving extraction methodologies, chemical composition and functional properties. The structure of pectins, which depends on the extraction method, is decisive in their capacity to induce apoptosis on several cancer cell lines like colon, prostate and breast. In this work, sugar beet pectin extraction was performed in the following steps： lipid extraction with hexane, removal of soluble complex carbohydrates and proteins, and enzymatic treatment with amyloglucosidase, protease, and pectinase. The enzymatic treatment was carried out with Rohapect DA6L under the following conditions： 50℃, pH 4.0, 2% enzyme/substrate （E/S） ratio, 15 h, and a solid to liquid ratio of 1 ： 10. The pectic extract showed a degree of polymerization （DP） profile of 55.8% with DP≥7; 4.9% with DP6; 5.8% between DP2 and DP6 ; 4.7% with DP2; and 28.8% with DP1. The pectic extract was examined for its antiproliferative activity on the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. At a concentration range of 12.5-25 mg/mL the pectic extract killed 80.6% of the cells, exhibiting a higher antiproliferative activity than 4-hydroxytamoxifen （4- OHT）, a classical anticancer drug, which killed 56.5% of the cells.

THERMOCHROMIC EFFECTS OF LEUCO DYES STUDIED IN POLYPROPYLENE

A series of thermochromic polypropylene foils were prepared by embedding various leuco dye-developer-solvent systems in the polymer matrix. Bisphenol A, laurylgallate, ethylgallate and p-hydroxybenzoic acid methyl ester were used as developers, crystal violet lactone and 3,3-bis-（1-n-butyl-2-methyl-3-indolyl）-phthalide as dyes and l-octanoic acid methyl ester as solvent. The molar ratio between the three components of the investigated leuco dye-developer-solvent systems was kept constant. All obtained polypropylene foils exhibit an excellent thermochromic behavior. The foils, prepared by extrusion technology, switch from color to colorless with increasing temperature. The influence of molecular structure of the developer on the intensity of the colored state and the influence of a developer-surfactant complex on the resulting thermochromic properties were investigated. The results are presented and discussed in detail according to a molecular model suggesting that the ring-opening process of the leuco dye is triggered by the formation of dye-developer complexes via H-bondings.

Myostatin(MSTN) is one of the key factors regulating myogenesis. Because of its role as a negative regulator of muscle mass deposition, much interest has been given to its protein and, in recent years, several studies have analysed MSTN gene regulation. This review discusses the MSTN gene promoter, focusing on its structure in several animal species, both vertebrate and invertebrate. We report the important binding sites considering their degree of phylogenetic conservation and roles they play in the promoter activity. Finally, we discuss recent studies focusing on MSTN gene regulation via promoter manipulation and the potential applications they have both in medicine and agriculture.
