This paper presents a simple yet func.ional non-intrusive method for elec.ric.power measurement that c.n be applied in energy effic.enc. programs, in order to provide a better knowledge of the energy c.nsumption of the applianc.s in a home.

Melt extrusion-based additive manufac.uring(ME-AM)is a promising tec.nique to fabric.te porous sc.ffolds for tissue engi-neering ***,most synthetic.semic.ystalline polymers do not possess the intrinsic.biologic.l ac.ivity required to c.ntrol c.ll *** of biomolec.les on polymeric.surfac.s of AM sc.ffolds enhanc.s the bioac.ivity of a c.nstruc.;however,there are limited strategies available to c.ntrol the surfac. ***,we report a strategy to tune the surfac. density of bioac.ive groups by blending a low molec.lar weight poly(ε-c.prolac.one)5k(Pc.5k)c.ntaining orthogonally reac.ive azide groups with an unfunc.ionalized high molec.lar weight Pc.75k at different *** porous three-dimensional(3D)sc.f-folds were then fabric.ted using a high weight perc.ntage(75 wt.%)of the low molec.lar weight Pc. *** a proof-of-c.nc.pt test,we prepared films of three different mass ratios of low and high molec.lar weight polymers with a thermopress and reac.ed with an alkynated fluoresc.nt model c.mpound on the surfac.,yielding a density of 201-561 pmol/c.^(2).Subsequently,a bone morphogenetic.protein 2(BMP-2)-derived peptide was grafted onto the films c.mprising different blend c.mpositions,and the effec. of peptide surfac. density on the osteogenic.differentiation of human mesenc.ymal stromal c.lls(hMSc.)was *** two weeks of c.lturing in a basic.medium,c.lls expressed higher levels of BMP rec.ptor II(BMPRII)on films with the c.njugated *** addition,we found that alkaline phosphatase ac.ivity was only signific.ntly enhanc.d on films c.ntain-ing the highest peptide density(i.e.,561 pmol/c.^(2)),indic.ting the importanc. of the surfac. *** together,these results emphasize that the density of surfac. peptides on c.ll differentiation must be c.nsidered at the c.ll-material ***,we have presented a viable strategy for ME-AM c.mmunity that desires to tune the bulk and surfac. func.ionality via blending of(m

The use of bioc.ar c.n have several effec.s on plant germination,depending on raw material,preparation method and applic.tion ***,the molec.lar mec.anisms that lead to those results have yet to be *** aim of this researc. was to improve the understanding of these mec.anisms by c.arac.erizing the metabolic.effec.s of sugarc.ne bagasse bioc.ar on soybean *** types of bioc.ars were prepared by pyrolysis at 300℃(Sc.300),400℃(Sc.400)and 600℃(Sc.600).Then,eac. one was mixed into sand at 1%,3%,5%(w/w)dose,*** experiment was performed in 8 days of inc.bation,when the number of germinated seeds and the average radic.e length were *** evaluate the metabolome,the dry biomass(DB)was subjec.ed to extrac.ion with a mixture of methanol-d4 and D2O(1:1 v/v).The extrac.s were submitted to metabolomic. analysis by Proton Nuc.ear Magnetic.*** Relative Germination,Relative Average Radic.e Growth and Germination Index inc.eased in all treatments c.mpared to *** the other hand,the DB inc.eased in all treatments,exc.pt for Sc.300,at doses of 1%and 3%w/*** metabolites(alanine,asparagine,ac.tic.ac.d,c.tric.ac.d,glyc.rol,fatty ac.ds and suc.ose)were identified and quantified in DB extrac.s as the most influential finding for the separation of *** together,these results strongly suggested that bioc.ars ac.elerated the c.tabolism of triac.lglyc.rols to suc.ose and induc.d a slight osmotic.stress.

c.rdiovasc.lar diseases are the main c.use of morbidity and mortality in the world, and obesity and the metabolic.syndrome are risk fac.ors for its development. One of the therapies to reduc. c.rdiovasc.lar risk is the use of polyunsaturated fatty ac.ds. In Brazil, a sourc. of suc. ac.d is the oil extrac.ed from the fat of the c.pybara. The objec.ive of this work is to study the effec.s of the c.pybara oil on lipid and gluc.se metabolism, as well as its effec.s on the adipose tissue and c.rdiac.remodeling. We assessed the effec.s of c.pybara oil treatment on body mass, lipid and c.rbohydrate metabolism, systolic.blood pressure, adipose tissue and c.rdiac.remodeling, and performed an ultrastruc.ural evaluation of the myoc.rdium in c.7Bl/6 mic. treated with high-fat diet. Treatment with c.pybara oil reduc.d total c.olesterol and triglyc.ride levels, systolic.blood pressure, visc.ral and subc.taneous adipose tissue, and adipoc.te diameter. In addition, c.rdiac.remodeling was attenuated, preserving c.rdiomyoc.tes, inc.easing vasc.larization, reduc.ng c.rdiomyoc.te hypertrophy and the extrac.llular matrix, and preserving the morphologic.l integrity of mitoc.ondria. c.pybara oil has several benefic.al effec.s on the c.rdiovasc.lar and metabolic.system, and further studies are needed to better understand its role in the prevention or treatment of c.rdiovasc.lar diseases.

Air temperature and photoperiod play an important role in the seedling development for tropic.l forest *** variables are sensitive to c.imate,and so evaluating thermal and photoperiodic.effec.s on seedling development is fundamental,espec.ally for c.imate c.ange *** to quantify thermal time and the energy required for plants to reac. a development stage inc.ude air temperature and c.rdinal *** photoperiod will also affec. physiologic.l reac.ions of a plant and thus its *** we evaluated the six thermal time methods widely used to c.mpute thermal requirement,and identified the influenc. of the photoperiod from the 2015 and2016 growing seasons and 12 sowing dates in Itajubá,Minas Gerais state,Brazil,on seedling development of three native tropic.l forest spec.es Psidium guajava L.(Myrtac.ae),c.tharexylum myrianthum c.am.(Verbenac.ae),and Bixa orellana L.(Bixac.ae).The method used to quantify thermal time influenc.d the analytic.l results of seedling development;the one that c.nsidered three c.rdinal temperatures and c.mpared them with the mean air temperature(Method5)performed better in c.mputing thermal *** influenc. of photoperiod on seedling development was inc.nc.usive for the three spec.es,but all three developed better in mild temperatures(between 13.3℃and 26.9℃)with a photoperiod shorter than 13 h.
