Effect of Aqueous-Alcoholic Extract of Ducrosia Anethifolia Boiss on the Fetal Liver of Diabetic Rats

Objective:Moshgak(Ducrosia anethifolia)is a wild plant with medicinal *** present study aimed to evaluate the effect of Moshgak on the liver tissue of the diabetic rat *** and Methods:In this animal study,the aqueous-alcoholic extract of Moshgak was prepared in the standard *** rats were divided randomly into five groups,including control,sham,and three diabetic *** rats were diabetic with intraperitoneal injection of a single dose of streptozotocin(80 mg)and 2 diabetic groups were treated with Moshgak extract(280 and 560 mg/kg/bw)for 19 *** rats were anesthetized and their blood was taken to measure the blood glucose,insulin,and ***,their fetuses were *** fetal liver sections were obtained by using the stereological *** micrometry of the liver tissue was performed and data were ***:The finding showed a statistically significant increase(P<0.01)in the total volume of liver,connective tissue,sinusoid,and hepatocytes in diabetic rats compared to control rats,while these parameters decreased significantly in treated groups with *** cell count hepatic decreased in the treated ***,the changes in blood glucose,malondialdehyde,and insulin in diabetic rats were improved significantly by Moshgak *** dilation of sinusoids,hepatocyte vacuolation,and mild lymphocytosis was observed in all diabetic groups except the treatment group with Moshgak 560 mg/kg/***:According to obtained results,Moshgak extract was able to compensate partially the changes induced by diabetes in the fetal liver ***,due to the side effects of diabetes during pregnancy,further research on anti-diabetic properties of Moshgak is suggested.

Endorphins, oxytocin, sexuality and romantic relationships: An understudied area

Endorphins are the body's natural opioids that are created and released by the central nervous system, hypothalamus and pituitary gland. Endorphins have a reputation for pain reduction, enhancing excitement or satisfaction, boosting confidence, enabling control of emotions and generating feelings of euphoria, and are involved in the natural reward cycle. There is also evidence in the literature suggesting the role of endorphins in sexuality(including sexual function and sexual behaviours), as they may regulate the release of sex hormones, prolactin and growth hormone, which are involved in sexual function and love. Endogenous oxytocin is another intrinsic hormone whose role in inducing labour contractions, the delivery of the baby and stimulating lactation has been well studied. However, the potential impact of endorphins and oxytocin on sexuality and romantic relationships is not well understood. This article reviews the research on endorphins and endogenous oxytocin and how they relate to human sexuality and romantic relationships. Some animal studies report the effect of endorphin and oxytocin on sex hormones and mating behaviours, but these findings have not been supported by research into human behaviour, indicating many gaps in knowledge relating to the association between these hormones and human sexuality.

Transition into fatherhood is often marked by a period of adjustment,uncertainty and psychological distress and challenges for many men,along with social isolation and relationship *** factors for paternal mental health issues are maternal depression,marital distress,parenting stress,gender role stress,mismatched expectations for pregnancy and after childbirth,poor physical health,inadequate self-care behaviours,avoiding seeking help for mental health issues,and having a child with sleeping,feeding and temperament *** depression,anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder can have negative impacts on the social and emotional wellbeing of fathers,their partners and their ***,these issues are not widely acknowledged,recognised or ***’s mental health illness is a silent *** often fail to seek help due to their feeling of shame,stigma for a lack of emotional control,distress or anxiety related to utilising mental health support services,and underrating the severity of their *** necessitate the need for timely attention,psychological support and proper education to minimise their risk of mental health *** research has indicated fathers’inclination toward being included in practices such as the mental health assessment,perinatal education and postnatal educational approaches need to be inclusive of fathers and encourage them to seek support for their paternal mental health issues and parenting difficulties.

Mechanical properties of TiO_2-hydroxyapatite nanostructured coatings on Ti-6Al-4V substrates by APS method

TiO2-hydroxyapatite （HA） nanostructured coatings were produced by atmospheric plasma spray method. The effects of starting powder composition and grain size on their mechanical properties were investigated. The microstructure and morphology were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. It is found that the coating with 10% HA has the best mechanical properties. Based on Rietveld refinement method, the mean grain size of the as-received powder （212 nm） extensively decreases to 66.4 nm after 20 h of high-energy ball milling. In spite of grain growth, the deposited coatings maintain their nanostructures with the mean grain size of 112 nm. SEM images show that there is a lower porosity in the coating with a higher HA content. Optical microscopy images show that uniform thickness is obtained for all the coatings.

Pretest analysis of shake table response of a two-span steel girder bridge incorporating accelerated bridge construction connections

This paper presents pretest analysis of a shake table test model of a 0.35-scale,two-span,steel plate girder *** objective of pretest analysis was to obtain an insight on the seismic response of the bridge model during the shake table *** bridge included seat type abutments,full-depth precast deck panels,and a two-column bent in which columns were pinned to the footing and integral with *** accelerated bridge construction connections were incorporated in the bridge *** analytical model was developed in OpenSees and was subjected to ten input bi-directional earthquake motions including near-fault and far-field *** overall seismic response of the bridge was satisfactory for all the earthquake records at 100%,150%,and 200%design *** connections and capacity-protected components remained elastic,and the average ductility capacity surpassed the ductility demand even at 200%design *** experimental fragility curves developed for RC bridge columns,it was predicted that there was a probability of 45%that columns would undergo the imminent failure in the last run and a probability of 30%for their failure.

Lateralization in monogamous pairs:wild geese prefer to keep their partner in the left hemifield except when disturbed

Behavioural lateralization,which reflects the functional specializations of the two brain hemispheres,is assumed to play an important role in cooperative intraspecific ***,there are few studies focused on the lateralization in cooperative behaviours of individuals,especially in a natural *** the present study,we investigated Iateralized spatial interactions between the partners in life-long monogamous *** male-female pairs of two geese species(barnacle,Branta leucopsis,and white-fronted,Anser albifrons geese),were observed during different stages of the annual cycle in a variety of *** geese flocks,we recorded which visual hemifield(left/right)the following partner used to monitor the leading partner relevant to the type of behaviour and the disturbance *** a significant majority of pairs,the following bird viewed the leading partner with the left eye during routine behaviours such as resting and feeding in undisturbed *** behavioural lateralization,implicating the right hemisphere processing,was consistent across the different aggregation sites and years of the *** contrast,no significant bias was found in a variety of geese behaviours associated with enhanced disturbance(when alert on water,flying or fleeing away when disturbed,feeding during the hunting period,in urban area feeding and during moulting).We hypothesize that the increased demands for right hemisphere processing to deal with stressful and emergency situations may interfere with the manifestation of lateralization in social interactions.

Evaluating the Importance of Environmental Variables on Spatial Distribution of Caspian cobra Naja oxiana(Eichwald, 1831) in Iran

Over recent years, the population of Caspian cobra Naja oxiana has declined in its distribution range in Iran due to habitat destruction and overhunting. Consequently, their small and isolated populations in fragmented landscapes are facing genetic and demographic threats. Evaluating the spatial distribution pattern of Naja oxiana, identifying core habitat patches and improving landscape connectivity among the patches have a significant role in the long-term survival of the species. This study predicts the spatial distribution map of the Caspian cobra considering the factors affecting the predictive power of the distribution models, including sampling bias in presence points, correct selection of background locations, and input model parameters. The sampling bias in presence points was removed using spatial filtering. Several models were run using 19 environmental variables that eventually led to the selection of the effective habitat variables and best MaxEnt distribution model. We also used an ensemble model(EM) of habitat suitability methods to predict the potential habitats of the species. Topographical roughness, shrublands, average annual precipitation, and sparse rangeland with a density of ≤ 20% had the most effect on the spatial distribution of Caspian cobra. The evaluation of models confirmed that the EM has more predictive performance than MaxEnt in predicting the distribution of Naja oxiana.
