Poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene-chlorofluoroethylene)P(VDF-TrFE-CFE)is a relaxor ferroelectric polymer,which exhibits a temperature-independent electrocaloric effect at room *** this work,the electrocaloric effect in P(VDF-TrFE-CFE)film was directly analysed using infrared imaging.P(VDF-TrFE-CFE)64.8%/27.4%/7.8%(in mole)film of(15±1)mm thickness was deposited on polyethylene naphthalate *** ECE of P(VDF-TrFE-CFE)film was measured from 15 to 35C at different electric fields.A maximum adiabatic temperature change(DTad)of 3.58 K was measured during the cooling cycle at a field of 100 V/mm at 30*** element analysis of temperature dissipation through the sample estimated that the actual temperature change within P(VDF-TrFE-CFE)film was 4.3 *** the thermal mass of the substrate,a substantial ECE was observed in P(VDF-TrFE-CFE)*** electrocaloric terpolymer composition could be of interest for electrocaloric cooling applications.

A new computational procedure for modelling the structural behavior of stiffened plates with symmetry boundary conditions is here *** uses two-dimensional finite elements as a way to decrease computational time without losing precision thanks to a relatively small number of elements applied for analyzing out-of-plane displacements(deflections)and ***,the constructal design method was included in the procedure,together with the exhaustive search technique,with the scope to optimize the stress/strain status of stiffened plates by design *** the purpose,a reference plate without stiffeners was initially design and used as starting *** of the volume was reshaped into stiffeners:thickness was reduced maintaining unchanged weight,length and *** main goal was to minimize strains and stresses by geometric *** demonstrated that,thanks to this design procedure,it is always possible to find an adequate geometry transformation from reference plate into stiffeners,allowing significant improvements in mechanical behavior.

This study presents the LES （large eddy simulation） of forced convection in laminar and two dimensional turbulent flows when the flow reaches the steady state. The main purpose is the evaluation of a developed numerical methodology for the simulation of forced convection flows at various Reynolds numbers （100 _〈 Rex 〈_ 10,000） and for a fixed Prandtl number （Pr = 1.0）. The hexahedral eight-node FEM （finite element method） with an explicit Taylor-Galerkin scheme is used to obtain the numerical solutions of the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy. The Smagorinsky model is employed for the sub-grid treatment. The time-averaged velocity and temperature profiles are compared with results of literature and a CFD （computational fluid dynamics） package based on finite volume method, leading to a highest deviation of nearly 6%. Moreover, characteristics of the forced convection flows are properly obtained, e.g., the effect of the Reynolds number over the multiplicity of scales.

Poly（lactic acid）（PLA）-containing nerve guidance conduits（NGCs） are currently being investigated for nerve repair as an alternative to autograft, which leads to permanent functional impairment in the territory innervated by the removed nerve. Combination of polymers modifies the physical properties of the conduits, altering their nerve-guidance properties. Conduits made from PLA-only or combined with other polymers have been used successfully for nerve repair, but their efficiency has not been compared. We compared the morphological and functional outcomes of peripheral nerve repair by using NGCs made of poly（lactic acid） and combined or not with polycaprolactone（PLA/PCL） or polyvinylpyrrolidone（PLA/PVP）. To assess the functional recovery, we employed a mechanical hyperalgesia analysis, sciatic functional index（SFI）, and electroneuromyography. The mechanical hyperalgesia analysis showed that the PLA group improved more rapidly than the PLA/PVP and PLA/PCL groups; similarly, in the electroneuromyography assay, the PLA group exhibited higher amplitude than the PLA/PCL and PLA/PVP groups. However, the SFI improvement rates did not differ among the groups. Morphologically, the PLA group showed more vascularization, while the nerve fiber regeneration did not differ among the groups. In conclusion, the PLA-only conduits were superior to the other NGCs tested for nerve repair.

Members of the ERF Family of Transcription Factors play an important role in plant development and gene expression that regulates responses to biotic and abiotic *** work identified 36 ERF family genes in Coffea arabica within the AP2/ERF full domain,using the EST-based genomic resource of the Brazilian Coffee Genome *** ERF family genes were classified into nine of the ten existing groups through phylogenetic analysis of the deduced amino acid sequences and comparison with the sequences of the ERF family genes in *** addition to the AP2 domain,other conserved domains were identified,typical of members of each *** in silico analysis and expression profiling showed high levels of expression for libraries derived from tissues of fruits,leaves and flowers as well as for libraries subjected to water *** results suggest the participation of the ERF family genes of *** in distinct biological functions,such as control of development,maturation,and responses to water *** results of this work imply in the selection of promising genes for further functional characterizations that will provide a better understanding of the complex regulatory networks related to plant development and responses to stress,opening up opportunities for coffee breeding programs.

This paper describes the study of cobalt growth mechanism obtained by electrodeposition method with variation of pH solution. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） and scanning electronic microscopy （SEM） results were possible conclude that the cobalt electrodeposited at pH = 5.40 presented approximately an area three times larger than the cobalt electrodeposited at pH = 2.70. In addition, the cobalt electrodeposited at pH = 2.70 had a value of charge transfer resistance equal to 151.6 f2＂cm2 and the cobalt electrodeposited at pH = 5.40 this value corresponds to 67.4 f2＇cm. This occurs because the increased in micro-porosity increase the diffusion of electrolyte on cobalt electrodeposits easily the corrosion process.

The objective of this work is to produce statistics that are going to show changes occurred in Brazil＇s ecosystems and these statistics are going to join the SEEA （Environmental-Economic Accounts System）. It is based by a SEEA＇s methodology, diffused by UN （United Nations）, which aims an approach between economic and environmental statistics, producing international comparability and conceptual uniformity to evaluate change process in land cover and land use that occurs in several countries. It is necessary to verifying the suitability of methodological procedures to Brazilian reality and the access to all information and files needed. The first step was analysing MODIS （Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer） as orbital instrument on the purposed classification method. The choice of this sensor was made because of the product＇s quality and its capacity to generate images of a large area, though the challenge is to identify accurate Land usage＇s categories in images with a spatial resolution of approximately 250 m. After the final classification, the next step is to make a quantification and comparison of data from these different years using a 1 km2 grids, as proposed in an already used methodology by the European Environment Agency. This procedure will allow evaluate and identify the process of changing in each grid of the land cover and land use, and provide historical series of the chosen years.
