Empty Sella [Presenting as Hypopituitarism] and Platybasia Secondary to Essential Fatty Acids Deprived Diet. Proof of Basic Concept Study by Retrospective Analysis

Background: Universal concern is an increased prevalence of morbidity, mortality;with improper comprehension, the globe has implemented, non evidence-based medical practice, without therapeutic indication, therapeutic protocols, policies-contraception, abortion, annihilating human race by therapy, destroying germ cells with consecutive systemic inflammatory response syndrome, associated with decreased androgen oestrogen resulting in metabolic syndrome, increased neoplasms—due to lacuna of this comprehension—cholesterol was blamed, resulting in essential fatty acids deprived diet, promoting sunflower seed oil, refined oil, lipid-lowering agents prescription like water, for the past >40 years;the tragedy of this false concept of refined oil, essential fatty acids deprived diet, [against God-ordained marvelous cell metabolism, from cholesterol] resulting in degenerative diseases, defaulted genomic repertoire, as cause and effect phenomenon in the two following morbid, fatal case presentations;contraception, abortion is the culprit and not cholesterol which is the basic life moiety of cell membrane, cell metabolism governing steroid hormones-androgen oestrogen derived from cholesterol. Case 1: 76-year-old male, vegetarian, presented with lethargy, hypotension, unexplained hyponatremia, on fludrocortisone for 2 years. MRI detected empty sella;hence hypopituitarism with cortisol deficiency, resulting in hyponatremia was considered and with hydrocortisone replacement, patient improved. Low levels of LDL, HDL, suggested chronic [>40 years] deprivation of diet containing essential fatty acids had resulted in degenerative—empty sella status with hypopituitarism. Case 2: 17-year-old girl presented with headache, vomiting, feeble pulse;6 months prior platybasia had been diagnosed and she had undergone corrective neurosurgery, to widen bilaterally, narrowed, base of skull foramina, to prevent compression on the exiting neurovascular bundles;urgent CT scan of brain confirmed sign

Combined estimation of state and feed-back gain for optimal load frequency control is *** frequency control(LFC)addresses the problem of controlling system frequency in response to disturbance,and is one of main research areas in power system operation.A well acknowledged solution to this problem is feedback stabilization,where the Linear Quadratic Regulator(LQR)based controller computes the feedback gain K from the known system parameters and implements the control,assuming the availability of all the state ***,this approach restricts control to cases where the state variables are readily available and the system parameters are ***,by estimating the states continuously from available measurements of some of the states,it can accommodate dynamic changes in the system *** paper proposes the technique of augmenting the state variables with controller *** introduces a non-linearity to the augmented system and thereby the estimation is performed using an Extended Kalman *** results in producing controller gains that are capable of controlling the system in response to changes in load demand,system parameter variation and measurement noise.

A study of female genital swabs in a Nigerian Tertiary Hospital

Objective:To detect some common microbial agents of vaginal discharge and improve the current syndromic management of abnormal vaginal ***:A prospective study of female genital swabs collected from obstetrics and gynecology units of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital,Kano,Nigeria and an analysed of microscopy,culture and sensitivity in the medical microbiology and parasitology laboratory of this hospital were conducted from December 2007 to December *** on epidemiologic indices were collected from the patients,using structured interviewer-administered ***:Eight hundred and forty Candida species were detected,constituting 60%(n=840) of 1 400 female genital discharge samples of microbial etiology in a total of 2 000 female genital samples *** distribution of vaginal candidiasis was tbe highest in young adults aged 21 to 30 years with 43%(n=360) of the total 840 cases. Pregnant women that presented with vaginal candidiasis constituted 40%(n=360) of the total 840 *** risk groups included the immuno-suppression with 24%(n=202),group on hormonal therapy with 15%(n=126) and broad spectrum antibiotics users with 16%(n=134).Conclusions: The results show that Candida is the most common cause of vaginitis and vulvo-vaginal candidiasis followed by *** in the young adults aged 21 to 30 years,pregnant mothers, immuno-suppression,contraceptive and broad spectrum antibiotic *** management of vaginal candidiasis and vulvo-vaginal candidiasis is recommended especially among the risk groups in order to avoid complications and reduce HIV transmission.

Invasion genetics： Lessons from a ubiquitous bird, the house sparrow Passer domesticus

Following an introduction, non-native species are exposed to environments that differ from those found in their native range; further, as these non-native species expand beyond the site of introduction, they must constantly adapt to novel environ- ments. Although introduced species are present across most ecosystems, few species have successfully established themselves on a truly global scale. One such species, the house sparrow Passer domesticus, is now one of the world＇s most broadly distributed vertebrate species and has been introduced to a great part of its current range. To date, work on four continents suggests both ge- netic and phenotypic variation exists between native and introduced ranges. As such, house sparrows represent an excellent op- portunity to study adaptations to novel environments and how these adaptations are derived. The global distribution of this spe- cies and the multiple independent introductions to geographically isolated sites allow researchers to ask questions regarding ge- netic variation and adaptation on a global scale. Here, we summarize the molecular studies of invasive house sparrows from the earliest work using allozymes through more recent work on epigenetics; using these studies, we discuss patterns of dispersal of this species. We then discuss future directions in techniques （e.g. next generation sequencing） and how they will provide new in- sight into questions that are fundamental to invasion biology. Finally, we discuss how continued research on the house sparrow in light of these genetic changes and adaptations will elucidate answers of adaptation, invasion biology, range expansion, and resi- lience in vertebrate systems generally

Isolation and molecular characterization of entomopathogenic nematode,Heterorhabditis *** an arable land in Nigeria

The occurrence of entomopathogenic nematodes(EPNs)in arable soil samples from Nigeria was investigated using Baermann extraction tray and insect-bait(White’s trap)*** were tested for infectivity using the larvae of Galleria mellonella(greater moth)and Tenebrio molitor(mealworm).The study revealed a new species of Heterorhabditis(MT371593)in soil samples that were randomly collected from an arable farmland cultivated with cassava TMS-30572 at the Teaching and Research Farm of Landmark University,*** of the internal transcribed spacer region(ITS)of the ribosomal DNA produced a nucleotide sequence of 933 base pairs(bp).A BLASTN search of GenBank showed that the sequence of the Nigerian isolate is identical at 99%similarity to that of Heterorhabditis *** *** test of the isolate showed 100%mortality against *** larvae within 48 h of exposure while only 80%mortality was recorded for *** after 1 week of *** is the first account of Heterorhabditis *** *** varying degrees of infectivity against mealworm and greater moth observed in this study proved that the Nigerian isolate of Heterorhabditis *** potentially be an attractive option in the management of insect pests of cash crops.

Background:The greater cane rat(GCR),reputed to be African's second largest rodent,is a precocial hystricomorph with an uncommon phenotype and life *** and socio-economic interests in the GCR have led to heightened research efforts targeted towards a better understanding of its biology and exploration of its economic and translational ***:Records of all online scientific publications on the GCR from Google,Google Scholar,PubMed,***,Ebscohost and Worldwide science,with the exception of research theses,proceedings,unpublished projects and abstracts,were collated and analyzed using descriptive ***:A total of 146 published scholarly articles spanning about six decades were retrieved,with 98%of the GCR publications originating from African *** boasts the highest number of publications(58.22%)followed by Ghana(21.23%)and South Africa(5.48%)while Senegal contributed the least(0.69%).Publications were sorted into ten field *** field with the highest number of articles(41.78%)was animal breeding and management recording,closely followed by anatomy(37.67%).Lesser contributions were made by parasitology(5.48%),biochemistry/hematology(4.8%),pharmacology/toxicology(4.11%),pathology(2.06%),and surgery/anesthesia and physiology(1.37%apiece).The fields with fewest contributions were microbiology and developmental biology(0.69%each).Conclusion:This study chronicles the spectrum of knowledge available on the GCR,highlighting the knowledge gap that still exists in various fields in order to provide advocacy for new frontiers in research efforts on this *** suggest the need for a clearly defined and well integrated national/regional policy aimed at establishing Africa's foremost micro-livestock rodent,the greater cane rat,on the world's scientific radar.

Background: In spite of advanced technologies and drug discoveries, morbidity and mortality were undoubtedly increasing in the era of contraception and abortion. Aims: Altruistic correlation of increasing morbidity, mortality, with contraception, abortion was planned for. Methods: In 2012, a retrospective analysis of prevalence of mortality in 350 patients of 20 - 35 years, 35 - 50 years and >50 years from data collected between 2003 and 2012 by convenient, stratified random sampling, from community, hospital, and its association with contraception and abortion status was undertaken;simultaneously, serum estrogen levels obtained from 105 patients were analyzed. In 2014, randomly chosen 8 males, of the 3 age groups, from a different community, whose life partners had undergone sterilization, were assessed for their serum testosterone levels. Results: Contraception users exhibited 3 - 4 fold increased mortality [p 50 years [p < 0.0005]. Endogenous estrogen was reduced in 75% [p < 0.0005] of contraceptive users. Plasma testosterone was reduced in males observing contraception, to less than 50% of normal, e.g. 1.3 ng/ml;66.6% contraception users aged 20 - 35 years had reduced [p < 0.0005] testosterone;100% of male contraception users aged 36 - 70 years showed reduced testosterone [p < 0.0005]. Conclusion: The “withered tree akin host” concept is contraception, abortion, with smashed fragmentation of germ cells. Reduced endogenous estrogen, androgen [dried up, destroyed life factors] result in deranged cell metabolism, cell cycle, and defaulted genomic repertoire, leading to failure of all established pharmacological therapeutics, including advanced technologies which yield gratifying results in non contracepted people today and in every one, before the era of contraception;subsets of people, host with contraception, with destroyed life factors, behave helplessly, concerning therapeutic applications, compared with subsets of people, host without contraception, with intac

Reliability Assessment of a Fully Laterally Restrained Steel Floor Beam to Eurocode 3

Parametric uncertainties should always be considered when setting design criteria in order to ensure safe and cost effective design of engineered structures. This paper presents the results of the reliability assessment of a fully laterally restrained steel floor I-beam to Eurocode 3 design rules. The failure modes considered are bending, shear and deflection. These were solved to obtain reliability indices using first order reliability method coded in MATLAB environment. Parametric sensitivity analyses were carried out at varying values of the design parameters to show their relative contributions to the safety of the beam. It was seen that reliability indices generally decreased with an increase in load ratio, imposed load, beam span in bending, shear stress and deflection respectively. In addition, increasing the beam span beyond 10 m, load ratio above 1.4 and imposed load beyond 30 kN/m made the beam fail as these parameters gave negative reliability indices. For failure in deflection, reliability index rose with an increase in the radius of gyration and overall depth of the beam section accordingly. Furthermore, the reliability index surged as the thickness of the web increased when taking into account, shear failure. The results of the analysis showed that the steel beam is very safe in shear and at some load ratios and imposed loads for failure in bending and deflection respectively. The average values of reliability indices obtained for load ratios ranging from 1.0 to 1.4 fell from 3.017 to 3.457 for all failure mode studied. These values are within the recommended reliability indices by the Joint Committee on Structural Safety for structure with moderate failure consequences and beams in flexure.

Misfoldedα-synudein is a major component of Lewy bodies,which are a hallmark of Parkinson's disease(PD).A large body of evidence shows thatα-synuclein can aggregate into amyloid fibrils,but the relationship between a-synuclein self-assembly and Lewy body formation remains ***,we show,both in vitro and in a Caenorhabditis elegans model of PD,thatα-synuclein undergoes liquid-liquid phase separation by forming a liquid droplet state,which converts into an amyloid-rich hydrogel with Lewy-body-like *** maturation process towards the amyloid state is delayed in the presence of model synaptic vesicles in *** together,these results suggest that the formation of Lewy bodies may be linked to the arrested maturation ofα-synuclein condensates in the presence of lipids and other cellular components.
