The.anti-apoptotic me.- be.s, such as B-ce.l lymphoma-e.tra large.（Bd-xL）, block the.pro-apoptotic Bcl2 me.be.s and pre.e.t ce.l de.th. Bcl-xL is abundantly e.pre.se. during de.e.opme.t and in mature.ne.rons, sugge.ting that it plays a role.in prote.tion from de.th from untoward e.e.ts occurring in adult life.such as ische.ia, inflammation or trauma. Phosphoribulokinase.（PRK）, a nucle.r-e.code. plastid-localize. e.zyme.unique.to the.photosynthe.ic carbon re.uction （Calvin） cycle. was clone. and characte.ize. from the.strame.opile.alga Vauche.ia litore.. This alga is the.source.of plastids for the.mollusc （se. slug） e.ysia chlorotica which e.able.the.animal to survive.for months sole.y by photoautotrophic CO2 fixation. The.1633-bp V. litore. prk ge.e.was clone. and the.coding re.ion, found to be.inte.rupte. by four introns, e.code. a 405-amino acid prote.n. This prote.n contains the.typical bipartite.targe. se.ue.ce.e.pe.te. of nucle.re.code. prote.ns that are.dire.te. to comple. （i.e. four me.brane.bound） algal plastids. De.novo synthe.is of PRK and e.zyme.activity we.e.de.e.te. in e. chlorotica in spite.of having be.n starve. of V. litore. for se.e.al months. Unlike.the.algal e.zyme. Six die.s containing 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, or 50% PSG, with the.PSG dire.tly re.lacing fish me.l, we.e.use. in the.first trial. The.e.we.e.no significant diffe.e.ce. in we.ght gain or fe.d conve.sion ratio be.we.n the.fish me.l-base. control die. and die.s containing up to 30% PSG. Howe.e., we.ght gain was significantly re.uce. and fe.d conve.sion ratio significantly incre.se. with the.40% and 50% PSG die.s. This study e.amine. the.e.fe.ts of five.diffe.e.t colors of ve.tically-suspe.de. e.vironme.tal e.richme.t on the.growth of juve.ile.Shasta strain rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) during hatche.y re.ring in circular tanks. The.colors use. we.e.silve. (unpainte. aluminum—control), safe.y re., se.i-gloss black, hunte. gre.n, and safe.y blue. Afte. 86 days, total tank we.ght, we.ght gain, and fe.d conve.sion ration we.e.not significantly diffe.e.t among any of the.color tre.tme.ts. Individual fish we.ghts, le.gths, and condition factors we.e.also not significantly diffe.e.t among the.tre.tme.ts. The.re.ults of this study indicate.that the.re.ative.y small amount of color pre.e.t on the.suspe.de. structure.did not affe.t rainbow trout growth.
