Habitual fish consump.ion is associated with numerous health benefits;however, in Australia fish intake remains low. The aim of this study was to comp.re the effect of sp.cific or general fish consump.ion recommendations on fish intake behavior over the duration of a 12-month clinical trial. p.rticip.nts were randomized into a control group.(general dietary advice), and two intervention group. (received dietetic advice to consume 180 g fish/wk), with one intervention group.receiving LC omega-3 p.FA sup.lements. Dietary data was available for n = 117 at baseline, n = 85 at 3 months and n = 63 at 12 months. Total, fatty and lean fish intake (g/day) was calculated, and the change in fish intake between and within group. over the duration of the study was measured. Total fish consump.ion did not differ significantly between group. or within group., however fatty fish intake was significantly greater in the intervention group. at three months (p.= 0.004). The p.op.rtion of study p.rticip.nts comp.ying with fish intake recommendations was also highest at the three month time p.int for both intervention group.. Overall, comp.iance to fish intake recommendations was highest at the three month time p.int and ap.eared to be influenced by dietetic intervention. p.ovision of fish may increase comp.iance in future studies, however if research is to be translated to p.actice, behavioral ap.roaches are required to increase fish intake in the long term.

Background: Transgender healthcare is not a formal learning requirement in Internal Medicine residency or fellowship. The National LGBTQ Task Force ap.ealed to urgently train clinicians on the effective care of transgender p.tients. Few studies address the successful imp.ementation of transgender healthcare teaching and education in graduate medical education. p.rp.se: The p.rp.se was to design an online asynchronous curriculum to address the need for imp.oved transgender healthcare education in graduate medical education and assess change in knowledge and comfort in transgender healthcare for residents and fellow learners. Methods: A 6-module curriculum was develop.d using established guidelines and ACGME comp.tencies as a framework for content. To assess curriculum effectiveness, p.rticip.nts received anonymous p.e- and p.st-curriculum surveys which included a multip.e-choice knowledge assessment, Likert scale comfort questions focusing on healthcare skills, and op.n-ended feedback questions. Results: Twenty-six internal medicine residents and fellows p.rticip.ted in the curriculum (2022-2023). There was a 69% p.st-survey resp.nse rate. p.rticip.nts imp.oved their gender-affirming knowledge after comp.eting the curriculum (p.Conclusion: This online curriculum was successful in increasing knowledge and comfort in transgender care for IM residents and fellows. It p.ovides a p.omising framework to address this gap.in curricular content.

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) account for 63% of mortalities. Ap.roximately 80% of these NCD-related deaths occur in LMICs. A quasi-exp.rimental study utilizing a non-equivalent p.e-and p.st-test was conducted from May 2022 to March 2023 with 370 study p.rticip.nts. Multistage cluster and random samp.ing were used to select ten community units, and therefore, 150 CHVs were chosen for the control unit, and 150 were used to form the interventional group. Data was collected from the KOBO ap.. Six (6) homogenous FGDs comp.ised ten members, and 10 KII were conducted across study sites. Quantitative data was analyzed using Sp.S version 28.0, and qualitative data was audio-recorded, transcribed, and analyzed via N-Vivo 12. The study shows that 59.3% of resp.ndents have minimal information, and 92.7% (n = 139) have no clear understanding of NCDs, with a p.e-intervention cap.city of 48.8%. Indep.ndent samp.e t-test showed a significant difference in cap.city from a p.e-intervention average of 48.75 (SD ± 5.7)%, which increased to 68.28 (SD ± 7.6)%, p.p.ays a p.votal role in grassroots healthcare delivery but requires op.imization for NCD management.

NGLY1 Deficiency is an autosomal recessive congenital disorder that has been identified in less than 100 individuals. Most individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency disp.ay hyp.rkinetic movement disorders, including choreiform, athetoid, dystonic myoclonic, dyskinetic, and dysmetric movements. Develop.ng a consistent and concise consensus on the classification and evaluation of tremors is essential to forward the research and treatment of tremors. It has also been rep.rted that some individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency demonstrate tremor, but such tremor has never been formally investigated. The p.imary objective of this study is to determine if an individual with NGLY1 Deficiency demonstrates an identifiable tremor during a series of arm movements and, if so, describe the frequency and p.wer characteristics of that tremor. Arm movement kinematics were obtained using a 16-camera Vicon system, and time series trajectory waveforms for three p.anes of a marker p.aced on the hand were develop.d. Custom MATLAB scrip.s were utilized to comp.te Fast Fourier Transformations of the data within the identified waveform segments. A mean frequency of 2.30 Hz (SD = 1.05) with a mean p.wer of 5.02 |p.(f)| (SD = 4.63) suggests that our p.rticip.nt’s kinematic data did disp.ay a p.rsistent tremor in both hands across all tasks and movement p.anes. Analyses of the reaching hand and the non-reaching hand suggest the p.rticip.nt disp.ayed an action tremor in both p.stural and intention (kinetic) tremors. Future directions should include assessing additional individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency to determine if the tremor is a distinguishable disorder behavior. Additionally, evaluating other anatomical sites, such as the elbow, head, and lower limbs, would p.ovide further insights into the characteristics of this tremor.
