Duodenal diverticula are a relatively common condition. They are asymptomatic, unless they become complicated, with perforation being the rarest but most severe complication. Surgical treatment is the most frequently performed approach. We report the case of a patient with a perforated duodenal diverticulum, which was diagnosed early and treated conservatively with antibiotics and percutaneous drainage of secondary retroperitoneal abscesses. We suggest this method could be an acceptable option for the management of similar cases, provided that the patient is in good general condition and without septic signs.

X-ray diffractograms, optic and electronic microscopy were used to study the structural changes on extruded orange pulp using a Brabender® laboratory single-screw extruder (GnF 1014/2, 20:1, L/D). The results showed that most of the cellulose would be in the amorphous state, with small crystalline areas in the angular region of 2θ = 14.5°. The evaluated extrusion conditions did not affect the crystallinity of the raw cellulose, maintaining the size of the crystalline regions in the angular region of 2θ = 22.5°. neutral detergent solubilized the crystalline areas of potassium citrate and cellulose, formed during the extrusion process. However, these conditions did not affect the crystallinity of the raw cellulose. In addition, no change was observed in the crystallinity of pectin. The electron microphotographs allowed for the estimation of the heterogeneity of orange pulp and assessment of the difference of resistance between the walls of the buds and juice vesicles. Thus, it was demonstrated that during the extrusion process most of the porosity and the cellular structure of the endocarp remained unaltered.

In this work, a tool that allows visualizing the probability of the power demand according to the temperature and the hours of the day is presented. This aim contributes to the decision making support for the transformer and its service administration. The objective is to represent the demand accurately as a color statistical map based on two variables: the time of day and the ambient temperature. Since the daily energy consumption is periodic regarding the hours of the day in terms of several days, its representation with Gaussian models becomes difficult, but it is simplified when working with circular statistics. The circular statistics used here is the Von Mises distribution, which has the parameters mean address and kappa concentration. Results obtained from measurements made over a year in a medium-voltage transformer with intervals of 60 minutes are shown.

This paper intends to develop suitable methods to provide likely scenarios in order to support decision making for slow dynamic processes such as the underlying of agribusiness. A new method to analyze the short- and long-term time series forecast and to model the behavior of the underlying process using nonlinear artificial neural networks (Ann) is presented. The algorithm can effectively forecast the time-series data by stochastic analysis (Monte carlo) of its future behavior using fractional Gaussian noise (fGn). The algorithm was used to forecast country risk time series for several countries, both for short term that is 30 days ahead and long term 350 days ahead scenarios.

Objective: To evaluate the combination of several statins(atorvastatin, fluvastatin and simvastatin) and azoles(voriconazole, posaconazole and itraconazole) against Acanthamoeba spp. Methods: The efficiency of the different drug combinations against the trophozoite stage of different Acanthamoeba strains were evaluated by Alamar Blue assay. Effect on the cyst stage was observed by inverted microscope. cytotoxicity of combinations of azoles and statins was evaluated by measuring the release of lactate dehydrogenase from a murine macrophage cell line. Results: combinations of any of the tested statins and voriconazole or posaconazole were more efficient in inhibiting Acanthamoeba compared to statins or azoles individually. The drug combinations at the combined inhibitory concentrations 50% showed lower toxicity compared to that of the compounds ***: The combinations of statins together with voriconazole and posaconazole are more efficient than these drugs alone, and these combinations have lower cytotoxicity in mammalian cell lines.

Iron-rich compounds with the tetragonal ThMn12-type structure have the potential to meet current demands for rare-earth-lean permanent magnets with high energy density and operating temperatures of 150-200℃.However,while it is normal for magnet technology to lag behind the development of underlying magnetic material,this gap has always been unusually large for ThMn12-type *** gap has widened further in recent years,as excellent combinations of intrinsic magnetic properties have been obtained in compounds synthesized with a smaller amount of structure-stabilizing elements(e.g.,SmFe11V or Sm0.8Zr0.2Fe9.2co2.3Ti0.5)or with no such elements(i.e.,SmFe9.6co2.4 thin films).The search for promising compounds continues-with increasing help coming from theoretical ***,progress in the development of magnets beyond polymer-bonded interstitially modified powders remains *** introduction of lanthanum(La)was found to stabilize low-meltingtemperature minority phases in Sm(Fe,Ti)12 alloys,thus allowing for liquid-phase sintering for the first *** high reactivity of La,however,has apparently undermined the development of coercivity(Hc).A controlled crystallization of the initially suppressed ThMn12-type phase makes"bulk"magnetic hardening possible,not only in Sm-Fe-V alloys(in which it has been known since the 1990s),but also is in La-added(ce,Sm)(Fe,Ti)12 *** properties of the bulk-hardened alloys,however,remain *** synthesized(Sm,Zr)(Fe,Si)12 and(Sm,Zr)(Fe,co,Ti)12 powders may become suitable for sintering into powerful fully dense magnets,although not before a higher degree of anisotropy in both alloys and a higher Hc in the latter alloy have been developed.
