The Public Works Research Institute Distributed Hydrological(PWRI-DH)for flood modeling is a combination of the tank model and the kinematic wave *** the PWRI-DH model,fitting the required parameters plays a fundamental *** developers of the PWRI-DH model have introduced the capability of obtaining parameters automatically using the baseline parameters;however,the results are not always the expected results because they depend on several factors and must be calibrated *** last issue has limited the interest of researchers regarding in the usage of the PWRI-DH *** this paper,we present a methodology to obtain the parameters required for the PWRI-DH model that enables to focusing only on the key ***,a parametric study is performed by identifying the influence of each parameter in the *** this study,we found that only four parameters play a fundamental role in the flood modeling using the PWRI-DH *** flood events in the Upper Aikawa River basin are used to calibrate the *** results showed that the proposed methodology is suitable and improve the efficient on the flood simulation of Aikawa River and similar rivers,when using the PWRI-DH model.

In-bore yaw of a projectile in a gun tube has been shown to result in range loss if the yaw is significant. An attempt was made to determine if relationships between in-bore yaw and projectile First Maximum Yaw(FMY) were observable. Experiments were conducted in which pressure transducers were mounted near the muzzle of a 155 mm cannon in three sets of four. Each set formed a cruciform pattern to obtain a differential pressure across the projectile. These data were then integrated to form a picture of what the overall pressure distribution was along the side of the projectile. The pressure distribution was used to determine a magnitude and direction of the overturning moment acting on the projectile. This moment and its resulting angular acceleration were then compared to the actual first maximum yaw observed in the test. The degree of correlation was examined using various statistical techniques. Overall uncertainty in the projectile dynamics was between 20% and 40% of the mean values of FMY.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a neglected tropical skin endemic disease, with worldwide distribution. By 2020 in the Americas, Mexico was in 12th place with 11 states reporting new cases. Molecular biology with different targets for diagnosis and species identification has been used for decades, also dermoscopy, a non-invasive diagnostic tool has shown its usefulness. We present the first case of cutaneous leishmaniasis in non-endemic place (Guerrero, Mexico) identifying Leishmania mexicana with molecular biology, and treated with itraconazole.

Design of protective and high sensitivity encapsulation layers in wearable devices

Elastomeric encapsulation layers are widely used in soft, wearable devices to physically isolate rigid electronic components from external environmental stimuli(e.g., stress) and facilitate device sterilization for reusability. In devices experiencing large deformations, the stress-isolation effect of the top encapsulation layer can eliminate the damage to the electronic components caused by external forces. However, for health monitoring and sensing applications, the strain-isolation effect of the bottom encapsulation layer can partially block the physiological signals of interest and degrade the measurement accuracy. Here, an analytic model is developed for the strain-and stress-isolation effects present in wearable devices with elastomeric encapsulation layers. The soft, elastomeric encapsulation layers and main electronic components layer are modeled as transversely isotropicelastic mediums and the strain-and stress-isolation effects are described using isolation indexes. The analysis and results show that the isolation effects strongly depend on the thickness, density, and elastic modulus of both the elastomeric encapsulation layers and the main electronic component layer. These findings, combined with the flexible mechanics design strategies of wearable devices, provide new design guidelines for future wearable devices to protect them from external forces while capturing the relevant physiological signals underneath the skin.

Ocean current energy is a promising and reliable resource that offers sustainability and predictability in realizing green future needs.A diffuser-augmented horizontal-axis turbine is utilized to generate ocean current energy.A numerical study on the impact of diffuser angle variations on the power coefficient has been carried out in the previous *** elucidate the fluid dynamics aspects and further validation of previous computational results,the experimental investigation on the optimal design of tidal turbine with 20.04°diffuser augmentation is presented in this *** study was conducted in a flowing tank with a current velocity of 0.7 m/*** maximum power coefficient of 20.04°is 0.436 experimentally,which is a little smaller than the numerical ***,to reinforce the 20.04°result,a diffuser with an angle of 10.43°was also manufactured and tested *** maximum power coefficient of 10.43°is 0.303 experimentally,which is 3%smaller than the numerical *** was concluded that the numerical approach might be considered satisfactory and represent similar phenomena to the experimental investigation in an application for modelling of multi-objective optimization.

The digestive gland of the apple snail Pomacea canaliculata lodges two types of pigmented corpuscles(identified as C and K corpuscles)which has been proposed as endosymbiont/*** corpuscular types are always present in the digestive gland of adult snails,they are released into the tubuloacinar lumen and are later expelled in the *** their part,hatchlings lack any C or K corpuscles in the digestive gland as well as in their feces,whereas C corpuscles appear in both the gland and feces within one week after ***,it is possible that the detritivorous hatchlings acquire the putative C-endosymbiont from feces in the sediments where they live,***‘lateral’or‘horizontal’*** possibility was put to test in an experiment in which we prevented any lateral transmission,by a 7-days aseptic culture,with no food,of aseptically obtained *** the end of the experiment,we observed that most juveniles had survived the culture period,and hence the digestive glands and feces of survivors were studied by light microscopy of resin embedded,toluidine blue-stained *** studied glands and fecal samples showed C *** is concluded that lateral transmission of the endosymbiont,if any,is not indispensable for the acquisition of the endosymbiont by hatchlings.
