Palm kernel oil is a vegetable oil derived from Elaeis guineensis and widely used in neonatal settings for skin care. It is a good emollient with a beneficial effect in moisturizing the skin and preventing transdermal heat and water loss. However, it＇s putative roles in the prevention or treatment of fatty acid deficiency is still controversial. So is its function in the improvement of neurological development from its long- chain polyunsaturated fatty acids？ We set out in this review to verify whether its empiric use in this context has any scientific justification and is recommendable. Although there is evidence that it has emollient and moisturizing properties necessary for softening the skin and restoring elasticity, controversy subsists on its other nutritional and neurodevelopmental properties.

Air pollution is a result of multiple sources including both natural and anthropogenic activities. The rapid urbanization of the cities such as Bujumbura, economic capital of Burundi, is one of these factors. The very first characterization of the spatio-temporal variability of PM2.5 in Bujumbura and the forecasting of PM2.5 concentration have been conducted in this paper using data collected during a year, from August 2022 to August 2023, by low-cost sensors installed in Bujumbura city. For each commune, an hourly, daily and seasonal analysis was carried out and the results showed that the mass concentrations of PM2.5 in the three municipalities differ from one commune to another. The average hourly and annual PM2.5 concentrations exceed the World Health Organization standards. The range is between 28.3 and 35.0 μg/m3. In order to make a prediction of PM2.5 concentration, an investigation of Recurrent Neural Networks with Long Short-Term Memory has been undertaken.

In this study,Mn_(3)O_(4) spherical particles(SPs)were synthesized by the sol-gel process,after which they were thermally annealed at 400℃,and comprehensively characterized.X-ray Diffraction(XRD)revealed that Mn_(3)O_(4) exhibited a tetragonal spinel structure,and Fourier transformed infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy identified surfaceadsorbed functional *** electron microscopy(SEM)and the specific surface area analyses by Brunauer−Emmett−Teller(BET)revealed a porous,homogeneous surface composed of strongly agglomerated spherical grains with an estimated average particle size of∼35 nm,which corresponded to a large specific surface area of∼81.5 m^(2)/g.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)analysis indicated that Mn_(3)O_(4) was composed of metallic cations(Mn^(4+),Mn^(3)+,and Mn^(2+))and oxygen species(O_(2)−,OH−and CO_(3)^(2−)).The optical bandgap energy is∼2.55 *** of the catalytic performance of the Mn_(3)O_(4) SPs indicated T90 conversion of CH4 to CO_(2) and H_(2)O at 398℃ for gas hourly space velocity(GHSV)of 72000 mL^(3) g^(−1) h^(−1).This observed performance can be attributed to the cooperative effects of the smallest spherical grain size with a mesoporous structure,which is responsible for the larger specific surface area and available surface-active oxygenated *** cooperative effect of the good reducibility,higher ratio of active species(OLat/OAds),and results of density functional theory(DFT)calculations suggested that the total oxidation of CH_(4) over the mesoporous Mn_(3)O_(4) SPs might take place via a two-term process in which both the Langmuir−Hinshelwood and Mars−van Krevelen mechanisms are cooperatively involved.

This paper develops the modeling of wind speed by Weibull distribution in the intention to evaluate wind energy potential and help for designing small wind energy plant in Batouri in Cameroon. The Weibull distribution model was developed using wind speed data collected from a metrological station at the small Airport of Batouri. Four numerical methods (Moment method, Graphical method, Empirical method and Energy pattern factor method) were used to estimate weibull parameters K and C. The application of these four methods is effective using a sample wind speed data set. With some statistical analysis, a comparison of the accuracy of each method is also performed. The study helps to determine that Energy pattern factor method is the most effective (K = 3.8262 and C = 2.4659).

Density functional theory （DFT） approach has been applied for the analysis of the bond between the [（H20）2] and the [M（gly）2] fragments in a series of trans and cis [M（gly）2[（H20）2] complexes. For comparative purpose, both relativistic and non-relativistic calculations have been performed. The nature of the interaction between the [（H20）2] and [M（gly）2] fragments was investigated using energy decomposition analysis, Hirshfeld atomic charge variation, molecular orbital considerations and bond order decomposition analysis, respectively. Results reveal that the [（H20）：]-[M（gly）2] interaction lies from the hydrogen bridge interaction between these fragments. The strength of the bonding increases in the order Ni2＋〉 Pd2＋〉 Pt2＋ while the relativistic correction tends to strengthen the [（H2O）2---[M（gly）2] bond in the order Ni 〈 Pd 〈 Pt.

Inventory and Management of Fungi Associated with Banana Plant through the Use of Allium ampeloprasum and Cymbopogon citratus Extracts

Despite the nutritional, economic and medicinal values of banana plant, independent of the region and production system is confronted with some diseases such as the fungi disease. These fungal diseases are responsible for the low yields. The objective of this study was to improve the sanitary state of banana plant. To achieve this objective, fungi associated with banana leaves were isolated on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) culture medium and their identification was done on the basis of morphological and microscopic characteristics using reference documents. Antifungal activity of Allium ampeloprasum and Cymbopogon citratus extracts were evaluated in vitro on agar medium on the development of Pseudocercospora fijiensis, P. musicola and Pestalopsis sp. The results showed that banana plant harbours a diversity of fungal species, the most frequent being P. fijiensis (51.58%), Pestalopsis sp. (15.47%) and P. musicola (12.03%). Aqueous extracts of C. citratus at the concentration of 15 mg/ml, inhibited 100% of the radial growth of P. fijiensis and Pestalopsis sp with a fungitoxic activity. Similarly, ethanolic extract A. ampeloprasum inhibited at 100% the radial growth of Pestalopsis sp. This antifungal activity was fungistatic. These results suggest that the aqueous and ethanol extracts of the tested plants could be used as alternatives to chemical products in the fight against banana diseases especially Sigatoka. Hence further studies need to be undertaken to isolate the active compounds from these extracts with fungicidal potential.

电力对于一个国家的发展很重要。电力供应的基础是提供基本的服务,如在教育中为学校和家庭提供照明,提供安全的冷藏食品。在贝宁,电力能源是由国有公司SBEE提供的,与贝宁电力共同体(CEB)联合,正在帮助实现其管理。贝宁电力公司(SBEE)的优先事项之一是为整个贝宁人口提供充足的电力。为此,贝宁已实施发展战略,以增加其电力生产。然而,目前似乎仍然难以实现这一目标。当前贝宁正面临着一场全国性的能源危机。贝宁人民面临着屡次的停电,国内能源供应大幅下降。因此,贝宁面临着巨大的不安全性。本研究首先对贝宁电力供应部门进行SWOT评估,以确定影响其发电效率的问题。这一评估显示,加纳、科特迪瓦和尼日利亚等邻国对电力进口的依赖性很强,主要原因是这些国家的电力产量很低。然后通过调查和统计分析评价贝宁的能源生产,最后估算了该国的能源需求指数。结果表明,贝宁现有的可再生能源利用较少,且政府的财政资源投入水平较低。此外,论文对当前的能源生产总量(GWh)和该公司的能源供应总量进行了比较分析。随后分析了能源供应总量与人口对能源的总需求之间的差异。在其基础上确定能源需求函数,并用来预测未来人口变化对能源的需求。论文最后就贝宁的能源发展提出了如下建议,包括贝宁必须要通过开发太阳能和风能等可再生能源来丰富其能源生产,建立强有力的机构组织,建立公私伙伴关系,提升电力行业的监管水平。
