Near-infrared electroluminescence of InGaN quantum dots(QDs)formed by controlled growth on photoelectrochemical(PEC)etched QD templates is *** QD template consists of PEC InGaN QDs with high density and controlled sizes,an AlGaN capping layer to protect the QDs,and a GaN barrier layer to planarize the *** transmission electron microscopy(STEm)of Stranski-Krastanov(SK)growth on the QD template shows high-In-content InGaN QDs that align vertically to the PEC QDs due to localized strain.A highAl-content A1_(0.9)Ga_(0.1)N capping layer prevents the collapse of the SK QDs due to intermixing or decomposition during higher temperature GaN growth as verified by *** of low-temperature(830℃)p-type layers is used to complete the p-n junction and further ensure QD ***,electroluminescence shows a significant wavelength shift(800 nm to 500 nm),caused by the SK QDs’tall height,high In content,and strong polarization-induced electric fields.

External beam radiotherapy(EBRT) is one of the principal curative treatments for patients with prostate cancer(PCa). Risk group classification is based on prostate-specific antigen(PSA) level, Gleason score, and T-stage. After risk group determination, the treatment volume and dose are defined and androgen deprivation therapy is prescribed, if appropriate. Traditionally, imaging has played only a minor role in T-staging due to the low diagnostic accuracy of conventional imaging strategies such as transrectal ultrasound, computed tomography, and morphologic magnetic resonance imaging(mRI). As a result, a notable percentage of tumours are understaged, leading to inappropriate and imprecise EBRT. The development of multiparametric mRI(mp mRI), an imaging technique that combines morphologic studies with functional diffusion-weighted sequences and dynamic contrastenhanced imaging, has revolutionized the diagnosis and management of PCa. As a result, mpm RI is now used in staging PCa prior to EBRT, with possible implications for both risk group classification and treatment decisionmaking for EBRT. mpm RI is also being used in salvageradiotherapy(SRT), the treatment of choice for patients who develop biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomy. In the clinical context of biochemical relapse, it is essential to accurately determine the site of recurrence-pelvic(local, nodal, or bone) or distant-in order to select the optimal therapeutic management approach. Studies have demonstrated the value of mpm RI in detecting local recurrences-even in patients with low PSA levels(0.3-0.5 ng/m L)-and in diagnosing bone and nodal metastasis. The main objective of this review is to update the role of mpm RI prior to radical EBRT or SRT. We also consider future directions for the use and development of mRI in the field of radiation oncology.

AIm To describe our experience with shock testing for the evaluation of patients with Riata? *** Among 51 patients with normal baseline electrical parameters, 20 died during follow-up. Of the remaining 31 patients, 15 underwent the test: In 10 cases a defibrillation testing with ventricular fibrillation(VF) induction and in 5 cases a R-wave-synchronized shock(> 20 J, without inducing VF). The test was performed under sedation with midazolam. RESULTS Twelve patients(80%) had a normal behavior during shock testing: In 8 cases induced VF was correctly detected and treated; in 4 cases of R-wave-synchronized shock electrical parameters remained stable and normal. Three patients(20%) failed the test. One patient with externalized conductors showed a sudden drop of high-voltage impedance(m) after a 25 J R-wave-synchronized shock. Two other patients with externalized conductors, undergoing defibrillation testing, showed a short-circuit during shock delivery and the implantable cardioverter defibrillator was unable to interrupt *** In Riata? leads the delivery of a low current during routine measurement of high-voltage impedance may not reveal a small short circuit, that can only be evident by attempting to deliver a true shock, either for spontaneous arrhythmias or in the context of a shock testing.

The Underlying Reasons of Suicide Attempts among Arab Population in the Holy-Land—Nazareth: View and Overview

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in many western countries, but in eastern countries this phenomenon was until recently extremely rare. Our study, performed during 2005-2012 comes to shed lights on the prevalence and the underlying reasons of the notable increase of suicide attempts in the conservative and religious Arab community of Nazareth, Israel. Extensive interviews, sociodemographic information, suicide risk factors in addition to Diagnostic and Statistical manual of mental Disorders-IV (DSm-IV) diagnoses were used in current retrospective study of 772 suicide attempters in the emergency room at the Nazareth Hospital. Statistical analysis using SPSS version 17, Pearson χ2 analysis and percentage distribution were used for the statistical analysis. We considered the differences to be significant at the level of p mpts were observed among females (77%) compared to males (23%), (P = 0.0001). During the year 2009 the suicide attempts prevalence was the highest 118 (15.3%) and during 2005 it was the lowest 77 (10%). 76.5% of the attempters arrived to the emergency room within 1 - 6 hours. A single suicide attempt was observed among 60% of males compared to 70.5% among females [OR = 0.846 (CI: 0.742 - 0.966)] additionally, more than one suicide attempt was notified among 40% of males whereas 29.5% among females [OR = 1.367 (CI: 1.099 - 1.701), (P = 0.007)]. Psychiatric patients (59.3%) performed more than one suicide attempt compared to normal subjects (21.5%), [OR = 2.76;CI: 2.276 - 3.354, P-value = 0.0001]. Drugs was preferred for suicide attempts in both genders (87.7%), especially among females compared to males (90.6% vs. 78.8% respectively), [OR = 0.869;CI: 0.801 - 0.942, P = 0.001]. 38 of males (21.3%) committed suicide attempts by causing accidents and self harm compared to 56 females (9.4%);[OR = 2.261;CI: 1.552 - 3.294, (P = 0.0001)]. 40 psychiatric patients (18.7%) chose this method compared to 54

Rituximab has provided a revolutionary contribution to the treatment of B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (NHL). A high prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection has been described in B-cell NHL patients. Cases of liver dysfunction in HCV-positive patients have been reported with Rituximab-containing regimens. In this paper we review the recent data regarding the effects of Rituximab in NHL patients with HCV infection. We also added a section devoted to improving communication between oncohaematologists and hepatologists. Furthermore, we propose a common methodological ground to study hepatic toxicity emerging during chemotherapy.

To the Editor:According to the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(2007–2010),the prevalence of kidney stones in the United States(US)population is 8.8%.[1]A prior US population study has found that the prevalence of kidney stones increases with obesity,diabetes,and metabolic syndrome;for individuals with type 2 diabetes,the severity of disease is associated with a greater risk of kidney stones.[1,2]Choi et al[3]reported that a diagnosis of diabetes was a significant predictive risk factor for failure of spontaneous stone passage(SSP)possibly secondary to ureteral edema and those diabetic patients should be considered for candidates for more invasive ***,this study included only 26 diabetic patients,and only 31 of 366 patients failed to spontaneously pass their stones both of which may limit the power to predict SSP of diabetes.[3]This is an important question to answer given the volume of stones in the US and the consequences of changes in SSP rates between patient ***,through a retrospective analysis of the database of emergency renal colic visits in Cleveland Clinic Foundation,we evaluate the association of diabetes on SSP and investigated the predictive factors of SSP in diabetic patients.
