Rational molecular design of efficient yellow-red dendrimer TADF for solution-processed OLEDs: a combined effect of substitution position and strength of the donors

The development of high-performance solution-processed red organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) remains a challenge,particularly in terms of maintaining efficiency at high luminance. Here, we designed and synthesized four novel orange-red thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF) dendrimers that are solution-processable: 2GCz BP, 2DPACz BP, 2FBP2GCz and 2FBP2DPACz. We systematically investigated the effect of substitution position and strength of donors on the optoelectronic properties. The reverse intersystem crossing rate constant(kRISC) of the emitters having donors substituted at positions 11and 12 of the dibenzo[a,c]phenazine(BP) is more than 10-times faster than that of compounds substituted having donors substituted at positions 3 and 6. Compound 2DPACz BP, containing stronger donors than 2GCz BP, exhibits a red-shifted emission and smaller singlet-triplet energy splitting, ΔE_(ST), of 0.01 e V. The solution-processed OLED with 10 wt% 2DPACz BP doped in m CP emitted at 640 nm and showed a maximum external quantum efficiency(EQE_(max)) of 7.8%, which was effectively maintained out to a luminance of 1,000 cd m-2. Such a device's performance at relevant display luminance is among the highest for solution-processed red TADF OLEDs. The efficiency of the devices was improved significantly by using 4Cz IPN as an assistant dopant in a hyperfluorescence(HF) configuration, where the 2DPACz BP HF device shows an EQEmaxof 20.0% at λEL of 605 nm and remains high at 11.8% at a luminance of 1,000 cd m-2, which makes this device one of the highest efficiency orange-to-red HF SP-OLEDs to date.

13-Lipoxygenases(LOXs)initiate the synthesis of jasmonic acid(JA),the best-understood oxylipin hormone in herbivory ***,the roles of 9-LOX-derived oxylipins in insect resistance remain ***,we report a novel anti-herbivory mechanism mediated by a tonoplast-localized 9-LOX,zmLOX5,and its linolenic acid-derived product,9-hydroxy-10-oxo-12(z),15(z)-octadecadienoic acid(9,10-KODA).Transposon-insertional disruption of zmLOX5 resulted in the loss of resistance to insect ***5 knockout mutants displayed greatly reduced wound-induced accumulation of multiple oxylipins and defense metabolites,including benzoxazinoids,abscisic acid(ABA),and JA-isoleucine(JA-Ile).However,exogenous JA-Ile failed to rescue insect defense in lox5 mutants,while applications of 1 mM 9,10-KODA or the JA precursor,12-oxo-phytodienoic acid(12-OPDA),restored wild-type resistance *** profiling revealed that exogenous 9,10-KODA primed the plants for increased production of ABA and 12-OPDA,but not *** none of the 9-oxylipins were able to rescue JA-Ile induction,the lox5 mutant accumulated lower wound-induced levels of Ca^(2+),suggesting this as a potential explanation for lower wound-induced *** pretreated with 9,10-KODA exhibited rapid or more robust woundinduced defense gene *** addition,an artificial diet supplemented with 9,10-KODA arrested fall armyworm larvae ***,analysis of single and double lox5 and lox10 mutants showed that zmLOX5 also contributed to insect defense by modulating zmLOX10-mediated green leaf volatile ***,our study uncovered a previously unknown anti-herbivore defense and hormonelike signaling activity for a major 9-oxylipin α-ketol.

Rapid characterization of the binding property of HtrA2/Omi PDz domain by validation screening of PDz ligand library

HtrA2/Omi is a mammalian mitochondrial serine protease, and was found to have dual roles in mam- malian cells, not only acting as an apoptosis-inducing protein but also maintaining mitochondrial ho- meostasis. PDz domain is one of the most important protein-protein interaction modules and is in- volved in a variety of important cellular functions, such as signal transduction, degradation of proteins, and formation of cytoskeleton. Recently, it was reported that the PDz domain of HtrA2/Omi might regulate proteolytic activity through its interactions with ligand proteins. In this study, we rapidly characterized the binding properties of HtrA2/Omi PDz domain by validation screening of the PDz ligand library with yeast two-hybrid approach. Then, we predicted its novel ligand proteins in human proteome and reconfirmed them in the yeast two-hybrid system. Finally, we analyzed the smallest networks bordered by the shortest path length between the protein pairs of novel interactions to evaluate the confidence of the identified interactions. The results revealed some novel binding proper- ties of HtrA2/Omi PDz domain. Besides the reported Class II PDz motif, it also binds to Class I and Class III motifs, and exhibits restricted variability at P?3, which means that the P?3 residue is selected according to the composition of the last three residues. Seven novel ligand proteins of HtrA2/Omi PDz domain were discovered, providing significant clues for further clarifying the roles of HtrA2/Omi. Moreover, this study proves the high efficiency and practicability of the newly developed validation screening of candidate ligand library method for binding property characterization of peptide-binding domains.

Effects of Nitridation on Properties of SiC Fiber and Interface of Ti Matrix Composite

The prenitridation of the TiBx coating surface of the Sigma sm1240 SiC fiber can form more stable compounds at the surface and obstruct the release of boron atoms into the Ti-based alloy matrix. The effect of nitridation on the tensile strength of the fiber was investigated in this work. Nitridation could degrade the tensile strength of the SiC fiber if the treating temperature and time were not optimized. The chemical reaction between the W core and SiC and the modification of the fiber microstructure during the nitridation are responsible for the degradation of the tensile strength. The strength can be maintained by the further optimization of the treating temperature and time. Therefore, stabilizing the surface of the TiBx coating and hence the interface of the SiCf/Ti composite by the nitridation of the SiC fiber is a feasible technique for practical applications. Ti-6Al-4V foil is used as the raw material of the matrix in the Ti-matrix composite.

A theoretical study on different cluster configurations of the ~9Be nucleus by using a simple cluster model

In this study,a comprehensive investigation on different cluster configurations of the ~9Be nucleus is performed with a simple cluster *** this goal,the elastic scattering angular distributions of ~9Be by ^(27)A1,^(28)Si,^(64)zn,^(144)sm,^(208)Pb,and ^(209)Bi target nuclei are reanalyzed for α + α + n,d + ~7Li,~3H + ~6Li,~3He + ~6He and n + ~8Be cluster configurations of the ~9Be projectile within the framework of the optical *** theoretical results are compared with each other as well as the experimental *** results provide an opportunity for a test of different cluster configurations in explaining the elastic scattering of^9Be nucleus.

Giant magnetocaloric effect in the Gd_5 Ge_(2.025)Si_(1.925)In_(0.05) compound

The magnetocaloric properties of the GdsGe2.025Si1.925In0.05 compound have been studied by x-ray diffraction, magnetic and heat capacity measurements. Powder x-ray diffraction measurement shows that the compound has a dominant phase of monoclinic Cd5Ge2Si2-type structure and a small quantity of Gds（Ge,Si）3-type phase at room temperature. At about 270 K, this compound shows a first order phase transition. The isothermal magnetic entropy change （△sm） is calculated from the temperature and magnetic field dependences of the magnetization and the temperature dependence of MCE in terms of adiabatic temperature change （△Tad） is calculated from the isothermal magnetic entropy change and the temperature variation in zero-field heat-capacity data. The maximum △sm is -13.6 J·kg^-1.K^- 1 and maximum ATad is 13 K for the magnetic field change of 0 5 T. The Debye temperature （θD） of this compound is 149 K and the value of DOS at the Fermi level is 1.6 states/*** from the low temperature zero-field heat-capacity data. A considerable isothermal magnetic entropy change and adiabatic temperature change under a field change of 0-5 T jointly make the Gd5Ge2.025Si1.925In0.05 compound an attractive candidate for a magnetic refrigerant.

A new near-infrared direct acceleration mechanism driven by Laguerre-Gaussian laser is proposed to stably accelerate and concentrate electron slice both in longitudinal and transversal directions in ***-dimensional simulations show that a 2-μm circularly polarized LG_(p)^(l)(p=0,l=1,σ_(2)=-1)laser can directly manipulate attosecond electron slices in additional dimensions(angular directions)and give them annular structures and angular *** annular vortex attosecond electron slices are expected to have some novel applications such as in the collimation of antiprotons in conventional linear accelerators,edge-enhancement electron imaging,structured X-ray generation,and analysis and manipulation of nanomaterials.
