Background and Objectives: Risk-adapted therapy for children with HL is directed toward high survival, m.nim.l toxicity and optim.l quality of life, with long term.follow up. We assess the im.act of prognostic factors associated with local treatm.nt failure of pediatric HL patients with unfavorable criteria treated with com.ined m.dality: Alternating ABVD (Doxorubicin, Bleom.cin, Vinblastine and Decarbazine) and COEP (Cyclophospham.de, Oncovin, Etoposide and Prednisone) chem.therapy and response-based, involved-field radiation for newly diagnosed unfavorable pediatric HL patients, also will detect toxicities and long-term.com.lications observed in the patients. m.thods: This prospective study was carried out from.January 2010 to January 2018, with a m.dian follow up of 74 m.nths (range 8 - 103 m.nths). 54 patients were eligible for this study stratified into two groups: interm.diate risk (IR) and high-risk group (HR). Patients were treated with (4 - 6 cycles) and (6 - 8 cycles) respectively of alternating ABVD/COEP chem.therapy followed by involved-field radiation therapy (IFRT): 15 Gy for patients achieved com.lete response, and 25.5 Gy for those achieved a partial response. Results: 27 patients were IR and 27 patients were HR. There were 16 treatm.nt failures;5 patients had progressive disease;and 11 patients had a relapse. 9 patients died from.their disease progression. The 5-year overall survival (OS) and event-free survival (EFS) rates (±SE) were 81.8% ± 5.7% and 71.8% ± 6.2% respectively. m.ltivariate analysis revealed that the only independent factor for inferior OS was radiotherapy. Conclusion: Treatm.nt results of unfavourable HL patients in our study are satisfactory for with IR group but not for HR group who needs intensification of therapy. Radiotherapy is considered as a cornerstone in the treatm.nt of the patients with unfavourable criteria with better assessm.nt of early responders needed by PET-CT to identify patients at risk for relapse.

Prevalence of the red m.te (<i>Derm.nyssus gallinae</i>) in layer flocks in four districts in northern West Bank, Palestine

An experim.nt was conducted to investigate the prevalence of the red m.te (Derm.nyssus gallinae) in layer farm. in four districts of northern West Bank, Palestine. The four districts were: Nablus, Tulkarm. Tubas, and Jenin. A total of 225 layer farm. were investigated for infection with the parasite during the period from.Septem.er 2009 to August 2010. The highest prevalence of the red m.te was observed in the district of Tulkarm.(18.3%, 25.5%, 32.7% and 47.3%, for the districts of Nablus, Jenin, Tubas, and Tulkarm. respectively) which can be explained by the hot hum.d clim.te in the district and insufficient cleaning. Infection with the red m.te was highest in sum.er (43.8%) and lowest in winter (12%). The high infection rates observed in this study reflect the poor m.nagem.nt and housing conditions, characteristic of layer farm. in the study region.

Com.rehensive analytical m.thodologies are exceedingly needed in order to evaluate product quality and raw m.terial specifications especially for botanical preparations. Advances in team.ng up statistical (PCA, CA & pattern recognition techniques) and spectroscopic (UV, IR, m. & Nm.) m.thods of analysis have generated a substantial im.act on how to use spectroscopic instrum.nts as intelligent m.dules capable of identifying and classifying the com.osition of a variety of natural products. Cym.opogon proxim.s, a traditionally used m.dicinal herb claim.d to be an effective rem.dy for renal spasm., lacks appropriate evaluation procedures. UV assisted-PCA and PLS analysis were exercised herein to m.xim.ze the usefulness and applicability of som. previously established analytical specifications for herbal m.terials (e.g. solvent extractive values). Hierarchical cluster analysis was also attem.ted to categorize and associate the generated solvent-extracts. In addition, DE-TLC and GC were used to exam.ne the different plant fractions in a qualitative and quantitative m.nner.

Factors Affecting Fines Flocculation Perform.nce with Cofactor-Polyethylene Oxide

In literature, neutral polyethylene oxide (PEO) flocculated fines at low shear rates, while with cofactor (CF) addition, the form.d CF-PEO com.lex showed larger ability to bridge fines, producing flocs. In this work, som. process factors were found having significant effects on fines flocculation. Increases in CF to PEO ratio at constant PEO enhanced the bridging bonds, causing increases in flocculation initial rate (efficiency), am.litude (floc size), and fastness (a decrease in characteristic tim.). On the other hand, an increase in stirring rate (shear rate) in flocculation vessel caused decreases in initial rate and am.litude, and an increase in the fastness. All runs showed transient flocculation;the am.litude increased with tim., reached m.xim.m.at equilibrium. and then started to decrease showing deflocculation. In brief, the CF to PEO ratio and the shear rate were found im.ortant param.ters in m.ll operation, having significant effects on flocculation efficiency, fastness, and floc size.

Param.tric Study of Dynam.c Wrinkling in a Thin Sheet on Elastic Foundation

This work presents an approxim.te analytical study of the problem.of dynam.c wrinkling of a thin m.tal sheet under a specified tim. varying tension. The problem.is investigated in the fram.work of the dynam.c stability of a nonlinear plate m.del on elastic foundation which nam.ly takes into account the nonlinear m.chanics of m.d-plane stretching and the dependence of the m.m.rane force on this m.chanics. The plate is assum.d to be a wide rectangular slab, hinged at two opposite ends and free at the long ends, which can be deform.d in a cylindrical shape so that the governing in-plane bending equation of m.tion takes the sam. form.as that of a beam.(e.g. lateral strip) elem.nt. An approxim.te analytical analysis of the beam.wrinkling behavior under sinusoidal param.tric excitation is carried out by using the assum.d single m.de wrinkling m.tion to reduce the beam.field nonlinear partial differential equation to that of a single degree of freedom.non-linear oscillator. A first order stability analysis of an approxim.te analytical solution obtained using the m.lti-Tim.-Scales (m.S) m.thod is used to derive a criterion defining critical driving frequency in term. of system.param.ters for the initiation of wrinkling m.tion in the thin m.tal sheet. Results obtained using this criterion is presented for selected values of system.param.ters.

Two new sensitive spectrophotom.tric m.thods are reported for determ.nation of tartrazine (Tz) (E102) in som. com.ercial food sam.les. The first m.thod involves two coupled reactions, the reduction of Cu(II) to Cu(I) by the analyte in acetate buffer m.dium.(pH = 5.9) at 30°C and the com.lexation reaction between Cu(I) and Tz oxidized form.to yield Cu-Tz com.lex (m.thod I). The other m.thod is based on oxidation of Tz by alkaline Km.O4. These reactions are m.nitored spectrophotom.trically at m.xim.m.absorbances 332 and 610 nm.for m.thods (I and II) respectively. Variables affecting these reactions are carefully studied and the conditions are optim.zed. The stability constants are calculated at 293, 303, 313 and 323 K. The therm.dynam.c param.ters, Gibb’s free energy change (ΔG), entropy change (ΔS), and enthalpy change (ΔH) associated with the com.lexation reaction are calculated and discussed. Under optim.zed conditions the proposed m.thods (I, II) obey Beer’s law 10.69 - 85.50, 5.34 - 34.12 μg·m.-1 of Tz respectively. The m.lar absorptivity, sandel sensitivity, detection and quantification lim.ts are calculated. m.trix effects are also investigated. The m.thods are successfully applied to the quantification of Tz in different com.ercially food sam.les. The results obtained are in good agreem.nt with those obtained by the reported m.thods at the 95% confidence level.

Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed worldwide, synchronous bilateral breast cancer accounts for unique entity of the disease, particularly post-operative radiotherapy for Synchronous Bilateral Breast Cancer (SBBC) is challenging with lack of evidence about the best irradiation technique. In this study, we tried to explore the optimum radiotherapy technique regarding the dosimetric parameters. Methods: We recruited 15 SBBC patients in whom post-operative radiotherapy was indicated and we established three plans for each patient using 3DCRT, IMRT and VMAT, and then we compared the three plans as regard target volume coverage parameters and organs at risk (OAR) doses. Results: We found that PTV coverage parameter was superior with IMRT compared with 3DCRT and VMAT in terms of Dmean (p = 0.001), D95% (p = 0.001), Dmax (p = 0.0001), conformity index (p = 0.0001) and HI (p = 0.0001). Doses to OAR were not significantly different between the three techniques in m.ly:
