To augment the quality of our life,fully compliant personalized advanced health-care electronic system is *** of the major requirements to implement such systems is a physically flexible high-performance biocompatible energy storage(battery).However,the status-quo options do not match all of these attributes simultaneously and we also lack in an effective integration strategy to integrate them in complex architecture such as orthodontic domain in human *** we show,a physically complaint lithium-ion micro-battery(236μg)with an unprecedented volumetric energy(the ratio of energy to device geometrical size)of 200 mWh/cm^(3) after 120 cycles of continuous *** results of 90%viability test confirmed the battery’s *** also show seamless integration of the developed battery in an optoelectronic system embedded in a threedimensional printed smart dental *** foresee the resultant orthodontic system as a personalized advanced health-care application,which could serve in faster bone regeneration and enhanced enamel health-care protection and subsequently reducing the overall health-care cost.

The present study aims to estimate the annual soil loss in the Soummam watershed in the northeast of Algeria,using the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation(RUSLE),geographic information system(GIS),and remote sensing(RS).RUSLE model has been used for modelling the main factors involved in erosive *** Soummam watershed covers a surface area of 9108.45 km^2 of irregular shape,northeast–southwest towards *** is characterized by an altitude varying between 2 m in the northeast and 2308 m in the *** showed that the average erosivity factor(R)is 70.64(mJ·mm)/(ha·h·year)and the maximum value reaches 140(mJ·mm)/(ha·h·year),the average soil erodibility factor(K)is 0.016(t·h·ha)/(mJ·ha·mm)and maximum values reach 0.0204(t·h·ha)/(mJ·ha·mm)in the southeast regions of the watershed,the average slope length and steepness factor(LS)is 9.79 and the mean C factor is estimated to be *** maps integration of different factors of RUSLE in GIS with their database,allowed with a rapid and efficient manner to highlight complexity and factors interdependence in the erosion risk *** resulting map for soils losses,with an average erosion rate of 6.81 t/(ha·year)shows a low erosion(medium erosion(7.42 to 19.77 t/(ha·year)),which represents 17.66%of the *** with extreme erosion risk exceeding 32.18 t/(ha·year)cover more than 3.54%of the basin *** results can certainly aid in implementation of soil management and conservation practices to reduce the soil erosion in the Soummam watershed.

Background: A healthy diet is essential for optimal diabetes management. However, dietary habits vary from one region to another, making it challenging to standardize practices. Objective: To describe the diet habits of patients living with diabetes in Guinea. Methods: We conducted a dietary habits survey among 102 patients living with diabetes followed-up at the University Hospital of Conakry in Guinea between January and March 2012. Data were collected by individual interview on the basis of a three-item questionnaire: diabetes data, diet mode, and food composition. Results: In total, 85% of patients were consuming 3 meals daily;13.7% had a collation and 25% had snacking habits. The meal was individual in 82.4% and collective in 17.6% of patients. The main foods consumed daily were: rice (93.1%), fish (93.1%), palm oil (91.1%), bread (87.2%). Foods consumed regularly (2 to 3 times a week) were: meat (49%), eggs (23.5%), dairy products (34.3%), fruit (43.1%), vegetables (40.2%) and peanut oil (21.5%). The food bans reported were: regular sugar (100%), sodas (62.7%), peanuts (84.3%) and sweetened fruits (55.8%). Conclusion: Combining dietary recommendations and dietary habits is essential for appropriate management of diabetic patients. The assessment of local food glycemic indexes and the training of dietitians remains a challenge in our context.

Congenital Heart Disease Referred for Surgery: Analysis and Epidemiological Description in the Cardiology Department of CHU Ignace Deen

Introduction: Congenital heart disease includes all cardiac and vascular malformations. It accounts for approximately one third of all congenital malformations and is a public health problem, particularly in developing countries. The aim of this study was to analyze the epidemiological, clinical and paraclinical aspects of congenital heart disease. methods: This was a retrospective descriptive and analytical study based on the records of 135 patients referred for surgery and followed up in the cardiology department of the Ignace Deen University Hospital, collected in November 2022. Results: Hospital prevalence was 5%. The mean age was 71 months, ranging from 1 month to 19 years. The age group over 24 months was the most represented (62%). The m/F sex ratio was 1.36. Urban origin was predominant (58%). The rate of children not attending school or dropping out was high (16%). Siblings with fewer than 4 children were the most common (88%). A heart murmur was the most frequent sign (78%), followed by cyanosis (36%) and heart failure (29%). The association between heart murmurs and CHD was proven with a p-value Conclusion: CHDs represent the main indication for paediatric cardiac surgery and follow-up (95%). We stress the importance of implementing a screening and management strategy for congenital heart disease.

Ebstein Anomaly: A Clinical Case Series among Adolescents in Guinea

Ebstein’s anomaly is a rare congenital heart disease. We report a series of 4 cases of Ebstein’s anomaly discovered in adolescents. The mean age was 13.75 ± 0.96, with 3 boys and one girl. Three were in heart failure. The EKG showed atrial hypertrophy (1 case), right bundle branch block (1 case), Wolff-Parkinson-White (1 case), and atrial fibrillation (1 case). Cardiomegaly was present in all patients with a mean cardiothoracic index of 0.77 ± 0.03. On echocardiography, the mean apical displacement of the tricuspid septal leaflet was 22.5 ± 3.30 mm/m2, the Celermajer index was Grade 2 in 2 patients and Grade 4 in 2 patients. Depletive medical treatment was prescribed to 3 patients. Anticoagulant therapy was initiated in one patient. Two are awaiting surgery. One death was recorded, it was at Grade 4 of the Celermajer index.

Affirming nonlinear optical coefficient constancy from z-scan measurement

Goodness of fit is demonstrated for theoretical calculation of z-scan data based on beams propagating in the nonlinear medium and the Fresnel–Kirchhoff diffraction integral in experiments with high nonlinear refraction and absorption. The constancy of nonlinear optical parameters is achieved regardless of sample thickness and laser intensity, which clarifies the physical significance of optical parameters. We have obtained γ = 2.0 × 10-19 m2/W and β = 5.0 × 10-13 m/W for carbon disulfide excited by a pulsed laser at 800 nm with pulse duration of 35 fs,which are independent of sample thickness and laser intensity. Affirming constancy of the extracted parameters to the incident light intensity may become a practice to verify the goodness of the z-scan experiment.

Profile of Pituitary Adenomas in Senegal: Epidemiological, Clinical and Therapeutic Aspects about 241 Collected Cases

Introduction: in adults, adenomas are the most frequent causes of pituitary tumours. The objective was to characterize its epidemiological and clinical aspects, as well as its therapeutic modalities in Senegal. methodology: this was a multicenter, retrospective, descriptive and analytical study carried out from the Senegalese register of pituitary adenomas (2008-2022). Results: 242 patients were collected with an average age of 42.4 ± 13 years and a sex ratio (m/F) of 0.91. The mean consultation time was 19.7 ± 23 months. The circumstances of discovery were pituitary apoplexy (11 cases, 4.54%), tumor syndrome (176 cases, 72.72%), gonadal manifestations (103 cases, 42.56%), dysmorphic syndrome (21 cases, 8.68%), hypercorticism (15 cases, 6.19%). morphologically, it was a macroadenoma (197 cases, 81.40%), an extensive adenoma (22 cases, 9.10%). The hormonal profile was lactotropic hypersecretion (80 cases, 33.05%), somatotropic (13 cases, 5.39%), corticotropic (14 cases, 5.78%), mixed (9 cases, 3.71%). The factors significantly associated with prolactinoma were young age (p = 0.000), female sex (p = 0.000), long consultation delay (p = 0.000) and microadenoma (p = 0.001). Only arterial hypertension was associated with acromegaly (p = 0.000). We found a significant correlation between Cushing’s disease and microadenomas (p = 0.000). Non-secreting adenomas were significantly associated with advanced age (p = 0.000), long delay in consultation (p = 0.000), male gender (p = 0.000), tumor syndrome (p = 0.001) and macroadenomas (p = 0.000). Pituitary surgery was effective in 173 patients (71.49%) including 166 cases (68.59%) by transphenoidal approach. Postoperative incidents were transient diabetes insipidus in 82 cases (47.39%), cerebrospinal fluid leak (20 cases, 11.56%). Death was observed in 18 patients in the entire series (7.44%). The Problem of Rehospitalisation for Heart Failure at the Cardiology Department of the Hôpital National Ignace Deen

Introduction: Despite current therapeutic advances, heart failure in sub-Saharan Africa remains a common, serious and costly disease, particularly due to rehospitalizations. The objective of this work was to determine the proportion of rehospitalizations for heart failure and to identify etiological factors. methodology: This was a retrospective descriptive study with a duration of 8 months from April 1 to November 30, 2021. This study included all patients rehospitalized in the department for Heart Failure and who agreed to participate in our study. Results: During the period of our study, 437 patients were hospitalized in the HF department, among which we collected 126 cases of rehospitalization for HF with a frequency of 28.83%. The mean age of our patients was 46.32 ± 18.98 years with the extremes of 15 to 84 years. The most affected age group was between 35 and 44 years old in 24 cases, i.e. a frequency of 19%. We observed a female predominance of 64 cases, i.e. a frequency of 50.8% compared to 62 cases, i.e. a frequency of 49.2% with a sex ratio (m/F) equal to 0.96. 98 cases of our patients, i.e. a frequency of 77.8%, were mutual insurance companies who felt they had the necessary support from those around them. In our sample, the underlying heart disease was mainly represented by valvular heart disease in 59 cases, followed by hypertensive heart disease in 42 cases with the respective frequencies of 46.82% and 33.33%. The majority of our patients were rehospitalized (1 - 3) times after a first episode of HF flare-up in 117 cases or 92.9%. Irregularity at control and therapeutic break were the most common decompensation factors with frequencies of 75.8% and 74.2% respectively.
