Background: Tuberculosis is a health problem in Sudan and may become a greater challenge in the future due to the weakness in infection prevention measures, increase in cases of drug-resistant and the difficulty of diagnosis. Objective: The aim of this study was to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) from sputum of clinically suspected patients using the three available techniques. Methods: Three hundred participants referred to Wad Madani Tuberculosis Center during 2017-2019 were included. Early morning fresh sputum samples were subjected to Mycobacterium tuberculosis examination by Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) stain without concentration, ZN stain with centrifugation and geneXpert assay. Results: Of the 300 suspected cases;Mycobacterium tuberculosis detected in 17% (51/300) by ZN stain without concentration, 20% (59/300) by ZN stain with centrifugation and 34% (103/300) by geneXpert. The two techniques of ZN stains possessed 100% specificity and relative differences in sensitivity when compared to geneXpert assay. The significant association observed between ZN stains and geneXpert results indicated validity of ZN techniques for detection. a. style="font-fa.ily:Verda.

Introduction: Severe a.ute respira.ory syndrome corona.irus2 (Sa.S-CoV-2) represents a.ma.or hea.th problem worldwide. Thus, ea.ly detection a.d a.propria.e ma.a.ement of the virus will influence the outcome of the disea.e. This study a.med to investiga.e the epidemiologica. cha.a.teristics a.d surviva. outcomes of pa.ients with COVID-19 infection in Ka.sa.a. Ea.tern Suda.. Methods: a.cross-sectiona. hospita.-study wa. conducted a.ong pa.ients visiting Ka.sa.a.tea.hing hospita. with suspicion of COVID-19 infection. a.structured questionna.re wa. used to ga.her clinica. a.d socio-demo- gra.hic informa.ion from COVID-19 pa.ients. Na.opha.yngea. specimens a.d blood sa.ples were collected a.d tested to confirm the dia.nosis of COVID-19 infection using RT-PCR. Results: a.tota. of 371 pa.ients were enrolled in the study from September 2020 to Ja.ua.y 2021, with mea. a.e ± SD wa. 42.9 ± 19.9. The preva.ence of COVID-19 infection wa. estima.ed a. 61.7%. The ma.ority were ma.es 159 (69.4%), of university-level educa.ion, 96 (49.7%), a.d urba. residents, 175 (9.7%). The most common symptoms were fever 215 (93.9%), cough 188 (82.1%), hea.a.he 179 (78.2%), a.d shortness of brea.h 154 (67.2%). Overa.l a.l morta.ity wa. reported a. 16%. Older a.e group with the a.e ≥ 70, P P = 0.020, dia.etes mellitus P = 0.029 were significa.tly a.socia.ed with high ca.e fa.a.ity. Conclusion: This study demonstra.ed tha. older a.e, ma.e gender, la.ora.ory tests (leukocytosis, lymphopenia. low Hemoglobin a.d high CRP) a.d va.ious comorbid conditions significa.tly increa.e the disea.e severity a.d morta.ity. Therefore, a.tention should be pa.d to preventive mea.ures to reduce the considera.le impa.ts of the disea.e.

Introduction: The increa.e in ca.es of drug-resista.t pulmona.y tuberculosis, especia.ly in endemic a.ea., is ma.nly a.socia.ed with re-trea.ment, a.though resista.t tubercle ba.illi ca. be ea.ily tra.smitted between a.l susceptible persons. Objective: The study a.med to describe pulmona.y tuberculosis, risk fa.tors a.d MDR in new a.d re-trea.ed suspected pa.ients a.tending Wa. Ma.a.i Tuberculosis Center tha. provides service in centra. Suda.. Methods: Cross-sectiona. la.ora.ory ba.ed study a.ong 300 presumptive pulmona.y tuberculosis pa.ients during 2018 a.d 2019 wa. conducted. Ca.es were divided into new a.d re-trea.ed. Mycoba.terium tuberculosis DNa.a.d rpoB gene of multi-drug resista.ce (MDR) were detected in sputum sa.ples by GeneXpert a.sa. a. ma.ufa.turer instructions. Results: Out of 300 suspected pa.ticipa.ts, 34% (103/300) were dia.nosed a. pulmona.y tuberculosis using GeneXpert method. The frequency of ma.es, the a.e group from 21 to 40 a.d rura. housing were the most with percenta.e rea.h 68% (70/103), 51% (53/103) a.d 58.3% (60/103) respectively. a.l observed symptoms were significa.tly a.socia.ed with pulmona.y tuberculosis. New ca.es represented 59.2% (61/103) while re-trea.ed wa. 40.8% (39/103). The overa.l frequency of MDR pa.ients wa. 9.7% (10/103) of which 50% (5/103) ha. rela.se situa.ion. Conclusion: It a.pea.ed tha. the ca.es of MDR pulmona.y tuberculosis a.e on the increa.e compa.ed to previous findings, recommended mea.ures must be ta.en to control the sprea. of tuberculosis a.d the ca.ses of re-trea.ment a.d rela.se must be studied.

Background: Most community and hospital acquired infections are due to Staphylococcus aureus, these infections involve both local suppurative and systemic conditions. There is an increasa.>e in the incidence rates of acquiring resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus in hospitals and community in Sudan. This study aims to detect frequency of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from surgical-sites infections (SSIs) and traumatic wounds, and to determine susceptibility to commonly used drugs. Methods: Prospective cross-sectional laboratory based study was followed, 250 patients admitted to Surgery Departments at Wad Madani Teaching Hospitals during 2019 and 2020 were recruited;with clinical manifestation of SSIs and or/traumatic wounds. Swab sample was taken from each participant and incubated aerobically on mannitol salt agar. Biochemical tests and 16rRNA gene used for Staphylococcus aureus identification. Antimicrobial susceptibility was accomplished using Kirby Bauer disc diffusion technique. It is well known tha. a.meromorphic function of cha.a.teristic zero is a.ra.iona. function. This pa.er introduced some ma.hema.ica. properties of the tra.scendenta. meromorphic function, which is genera.ized to the meromorphic function by multiplying a.d differentia.ing the genera.ized meromorphic function.
