A comprehensive account of fungal classification from freshwater habitats is outlined and discussed in the present review based on literature of biodiversity studies and recent morpho-phylogenetic analyses.A total of 3,870 freshwater fungal species are listed with additional details on the isolation source,habitat,geographical distribution,and molecular *** Ascomycota(2,968 species,1,018 genera)dominated the freshwater fungal taxa wherein Sordariomycetes(823 species,298 genera)had the largest number,followed by Dothideomycetes(677 species,229 genera),Eurotiomycetes(276 species,49 genera),and Leotiomycetes(260 species,83 genera).Other phyla included in the updated classification of freshwater fungi are:Chytridiomycota(333 species,97 genera),Rozellomycota(221 species,105 genera),Basidiomycota(218 species,100 genera),Blastocladiomycota(47 species,10 genera),Monoblepharomycota(29 species,6 genera),Mucoromycota(19 spe-cies,10 genera),Aphelidiomycota(15 species,3 genera),Entomophthoromycota(6 species,4 genera),Mortierellomycota(5 species,3 genera),Olpidiomycota(4 species,1 genus),Zoopagomycota(3 species,2 genera),and Sanchytriomycota(2 species,2 genera).The freshwater fungi belong to 1,361 genera,386 families and 145 *** Pleosporales and Laboulbeniaceae are the largest freshwater fungal order and family comprised of 391 and 185 species,*** most speciose genera are Chitonomyces(87,Laboulbeniomycetes),Verrucaria(50,Eurotiomycetes),Rhizophydium(52,Rhizophydiomycetes),Penicillium(47,Eurotiomycetes),and Candida(42,Saccharomycetes).

AIM To assess the feasibility and parental acceptance of diagnostic microlaryngobronchoscopy(MLB) as day case *** A prospective study was performed over a 26 moperiod at a tertiary paediatric ENT centre. Patients were selected in clinic using set criteria. All MLBs were performed using a standardised anaesthetic protocol and patients monitored post-operatively. Six weeks following surgery, parents underwent questionnaire *** Ninety-four out of 101 MLBs was successfully performed as day case surgery over the set period. Seven patients required an overnight stay for further observation. Fiftyseven parents took part in the questionnaire of which 68.4% were highly satisfied with same day discharge. CONCLUSION MLB is feasible, safe and acceptable as day case surgery in carefully selected patients.

AIM: To evaluate Quality of life(QoL) in chronic heart failure(CHF) in relation to Neuroticism personality trait and CHF ***: Thirty six consecutive, outpatients with Chronic Heart Failure(6 females and 30 males, mean age: 54 ± 12 years), with a left ventricular ejection fraction ≤ 45% at optimal medical treatment at the time of inclusion, were asked to answer the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire(KCCQ) for Quality ofLife assessment and the NEO Five-Factor Personality Inventory for personality assessment. All patients un-derwent a symptom limited cardiopulmonary exercise testing on a cycle-ergometer, in order to access CHF severity. A multivariate linear regression analysis us-ing simultaneous entry of predictors was performed to examine which of the CHF variables and of the person-ality variables were correlated independently to QoL scores in the two summary scales of the KCCQ, namely the Overall Summary Scale and the Clinical Summary ***: The Neuroticism personality trait score had a significant inverse correlation with the Clinical Sum-mary Score and Overall Summary Score of the KCCQ(r =-0.621, P < 0.05 and r =-0.543, P < 0.001, respec-tively). KCCQ summary scales did not show significant correlations with the personality traits of Extraversion, Openness, Conscientiousness and Agreeableness. Mul-tivariate linear regression analysis using simultaneous entry of predictors was also conducted to determine the best linear combination of statistically significant univari-ate predictors such as Neuroticism, VE/VCO2 slope and VO2 peak, for predicting KCCQ Clinical Summary Score. The results show Neuroticism(β =-0.37, P < 0.05), VE/VCO2 slope(β =-0.31, P < 0.05) and VO2 peak(β = 0.37, P < 0.05) to be independent predictors of QoL. In multivariate regression analysis Neuroticism(b =-0.37, P < 0.05), the slope of ventilatory equivalent for carbon dioxide output during exercise,(VE/VCO2 slope)(b =-0.31, P < 0.05) and peak oxygen uptake(VO2 peak)

BACKGROUND Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) occurs when the reflux of stomach contents causes troublesome symptoms and/or complications. When medical therapy is insufficient, surgical therapy is indicated and, until now, Laparoscopic fundoplication(LF) constitutes the gold-standard method. However, magnetic sphincter augmentation(MSA) using the LINX^® Reflux Management System has recently emerged and disputes the standard therapeutic *** To investigate the device’s safety and efficacy in resolving GERD *** This is a systematic review conducted in accordance to the PRISMA *** searched MEDLINE, ***, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials CENTRAL databases from inception until September *** Overall, 35 studies with a total number of 2511 MSA patients were included and analyzed. Post-operative proton-pump inhibitor(PPI) cessation rates reached 100%, with less bloating symptoms and a better ability to belch or vomit in comparison to LF. Special patient groups(e.g., bariatric or large hiatal-hernias)had promising results too. The most common postoperative complication was dysphagia ranging between 6% and 83%. Dilation due to dysphagia occurred in 8% of patients with typical inclusion criteria. Esophageal erosion may occur in up to 0.03% of patients. Furthermore, a recent trial indicated MSA as an efficient alternative to double-dose PPIs in moderate-to-severe *** The findings of our review suggest that MSA has the potential to bridge the treatment gap between maxed-out medical treatment and LF. However, further studies with longer follow-up are needed for a better elucidation of these results.

Mapping indoor overheating and air pollution risk modification across Great Britain:A modelling study

Housing has long been thought to play a significant role in population exposure to environmental hazards such as high temperatures and air ***,there is sparse data describing how housing may modify heat and air pollution exposure such that housing's role in poor health and mortality from these hazards may be *** paper describes the development of individual-address level indoor overheating and air pollution risk modifiers for Great Britain,for use alongside historical weather,outdoor air pollution,population socio-economic data,and mortality data in a large-scale epidemiological investigation.A geographically-referenced housing stock database was developed using the Homes Energy Efficiency Database(HEED)and the English Housing Survey(EHS).Simulations of unique combinations of building,fabric,occupation,and environment were run using a modelling framework developed for Energy Plus8.0,estimating indoor temperature metrics,indoor/outdoor ratio of pollution from outdoor sources,and indoor air pollution from multiple indoor *** were compiled,matched back to individual properties in HEED,and mapped using Geographical Information Systems(GIS).Results indicate urban areas had higher numbers of buildings prone to overheating,reduced levels indoor air pollution from outdoor sources,and higher air pollution from indoor sources relative to rural areas,driven largely by variations in building *** results provide the first national-scale quantitative estimate of heat and indoor air pollution modification by dwellings,aggregated at levels suitable for inclusion in health analysis.
